***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I am traveling in New Mexico closing on my new house, and long story short, T-Mobile just will not work for me around here. I also brought a prepaid Verizon dumbphone (Samsung Gusto) and found Verizon signals loud and clear all over the place where I had no service on T-Mo.

Now, the corporate store here has a TERRIBLE reputation in online reviews, while the authorized verizon sellers have good reputations. I called those two and one said they'll get stock tomorrow around 1 or 2 PM, and hold one for me. I can swing by and pick it up on my way to the airport, it'll be perfect.

HOWEVER, the guy at my VZW corp store in MN finally called me to follow up and ask if I wanted to get the phone tomorrow, but I won't be back tomorrow. He left a voicemail. So I'm wondering, should I call him tomorrow morning and ask him to hold it until Friday when I get back? Any reason not to get it from an authorized retailer?

In my experience authorized retailers are even better at customer service. Maybe because they're privately owned? I don't know.

But I'd probably go with getting it tomorrow, if I were you.

btw, Rio Rancho FTW!

Switched from TM to Verizon while I was out there. It really blows in that area.

If I am on a family line and don't play on getting a new phone till the contract is up and I don't plan on changing my plan at all, would the let's talk deal be good for me?
Also want to keep my unlimited data.

Could it be that this roller coaster is finally coming to an end?

Man, starting tomorrow, my productivity at work is going to go through the roof!

I'm figuring Friday. Tomorrow I'm only at work as a preventative measure for myself. It's technically going to be logged as a sick day. :D
Friday I have to do some work but we close early for our holiday party.
So Monday will really see my productivity jump.

Ugh, that's terrible! I don't think you have an alternative. :(

By being back, I assume you switched back from another provider? A while back I had switched to sprint for the nexus s after my droid x screen crapped out on me. Sprint didn't have reception at work which was a big problem. I decided to switch back to verizon within my 30 day trial period. Rep in store connected me to a buy back program wher they waived my etf from my prior verizon contract, and authorized a charge at a new contract price. Not sure how often you can do that or it's a one time thing. If you're already back on verizon, not sure there's much you can do.

I asked this before but still have no idea.....my upgrade date is 12/29.....I do not want to wait.....I will stroke out!.....so how much will this cost me tomorrow morning when I crash thru the barricade??

Talk with a corp manager and have them override your upgrade date. You're well within the window.

I'm sure that it must have been mentioned at some point, however, the greatest thing about having an official release date for the GNex is this. We get to sleep some without having to worry about watching Big Reds website every day at midnight for some indication that it's coming out.

I don't know but you all but I'm sleeping GRRREAT tonight.. :)

Bombed out trying to get the 3G to 4g discount. She said that it was for "chosen" people only. She did say however, that the phone is being released tomorrow. Do you think it is worth another shot calling about the deal?

from CSR:
Kaylen: The reason the phones are so cheap through third party vendors like Best Buy, Wirefly, or Let's Talk is because these vendors have their own contract on top of Verizon's contract. With these third party vendors, if you purchase a phone you can not change your plan within the first 6 months or you would incur a termination charge up to $250. Also if you decide to end your contract early, you would have to pay that third party vendor's termination fee and Verizon termination fee amount as well. Does that help clarify the price difference in the phones?

You are right. There's the catch.

Just to add to that, I just went through the process with a Rezound. The price came up at $219 initially (before $75 rebate). So, I went through and started to add a plan. They had "bundled" plans to choose from, which may be perfect for you, but, for me, the plan that I put together put the phone back up to $289. The whole... can't change plan for 6 months thing would worry me.

So, it's still cheaper than VZW, but, I'd definitely read the fine print before doing it...

BabyBlues, love your new avatar!!
To be honest, it seems kind of silly to compliment each of her avatars. Can you think of a single one that wasn't outstanding?

Although I have to admit, I think my favorite avatar was of Princess Leia and Han Solo together after you "returned." What did she say? I think it was something like "It's all okay, now go get that Galaxy Nexus!"

It's going to suck when this thread locks and I have to go back to real life.

this has probably been ninja'd, but i went to my verizon store in DC at about 8:30pm and asked a CSR about the nexus, he said it is definitely being released tomorrow. I will be there at 9AM. Thanks to all for all the ups and downs over this debacle of a release. Enjoy your new phones everyone!

I can't believe I've managed to sit on my upgrade for almost a full year. I guess it just shows how good of a phone my Incredible, that I bought off-contract, has been to me.

So long HTC Incredible (you were NEVER a Droid in my eyes), you've been a good friend...

Just spend 15 minutes on the phone with an amazing CSR. Simply inquired on moving my upgrade up, she asked what phone I was looking at and I replied the Nexus, and she told me she can't get the order in right now (obviously) but will be calling me back tomorrow at the same time to put the order in. Thanked me for my outstanding loyalty and I have to say this is why Verizon gets it.
