***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Also, going with the one phone a year theory, wouldn't that mean we have one Android phone, one iphone, one Blackberry phone, etc. There wouldn't be much to choose from. I think that would be horrible.
Actually the idea of taking one model and making it their flagship year after year. Building a brand so to speak. The iPhone is a brand. The Galaxy S series seems to be moving in this direction. Lets see what the SGSIII brings to the table

We could use any model. For instance the upcoming Moto "Spyder". Moto could take that model and continue to evolve it and have it be their flagship phone year in and year out. They can still release other great phones through out the year but their Spyder is their premier phone. Hopefully I'm making sense......

i, too, hope that vzw doesn't screw up the Nexus and try to release it as a bloated up Droid Prime or something. personally, i think the time has come (and i think vzw recognizes, as well) for a pure Nexus device on vzw.

Personally, I'd be fine with the bloat so long as we get the Prime or whatever they call it. That's what rooting and rom are good for. If we get it I'm sure it will be rooted within days if not weeks.

I will however be pretty pissed if we don't get it at all.

Ok, I think I may have misunderstood your first post. I wouldn't mine what you listed above because we still have choices. Apple gives you one choice only which I don't like. I do like the idea of a flagship phone from each manufacturer with other lower spec'd phones for others to choose from.

Welcome Huskerkate....GBR!

Heads up for the game this weekend....rumor is the team is wearing all black!

HOLY .....!!! no kidding?! that would be suhweet!!! a definite first...(i remember when they wore all red against OU in '86, but i'm dating myself...) they better bring it, cuz they haven't looked consistent enough the last 4 weeks to bring down a top 10 team, imo. hopefully they've just been running vanilla sets to get by (a la the TO and Charlie McBride days), and will open it up on Sat!!

so that this isn't a completely off-topic post, the inkling/impression i was getting was that there might be 2 devices headed to VZW: the bloated up Droid Prime/Charge 2 (SCH-i515), and the open, vanilla Andy Galaxy Nexus/Nexus Prime/Nexus whatever device (GT-i9250). has that been eliminated as a possibility, and i just missed it??

In all honesty....I'm embarrassed to say it but I am a spec prostitute (would use a more colorful word but it's not family friendly)

Yup I said it :) what the heck I believe in honesty.

I would love to own a phone that remains top tier/cutting edge for at least a year. Heck even 7 months I'd settle for.........

haha that's completely okay then. lol always makes things okay when you are completely honest.

I really hope this isnt real.

Yeah, me too. It's odd how much praise it is getting, but I really don't see what's so exciting about ICS if that's it. The task switcher looks like Honeycomb, OK. Separate apps and widgets. And .. what else? Hopefully there is more to ICS than this. Or better yet, hopefully it's fake ..

This may just be the ICS like laucher. I forget where I saw it but I remember seeing that somebody made a launcher that is basically a mock-up of what they expect ICS to be based on rumors.

So...I have been lurking this thread now--checking nightly. But, I just got to take in this whole page with two minutes of ICS and then the official invites for Samsung's event having official Google branding as well. I was so overcome with geeky excitement, I tried to explain all of this to my girlfriend. She was watching Lifetime and cared very little about what I was saying. If she even understood what ICS was.

Anyway, that all forced me to break my silence. I have nothing to contribute other than how awesomely awesome this is. I'm really geeking out here.

This caused me to break my silence too! Noone here at work cares, even though I tried to explain it to them.

This is exciting news indeed. This is much more the kind of thing I was hoping for, as I was very skeptical of anyone other than Google announcing/showing off Ice Cream Sandwich for the first time. So, finding out that Google will sure enough be with Samsung at CTIA bodes very well. This could even mean they're ready to release the SDK and subsequently the source code, so with our outstanding dev community we could very well have ICS ROMS running on our phones before any new devices are even released... very exciting.

Firstly, I've been married 32 years. You and I need to talk. The way to your gf's heart is NOT through her cellphone. When you have a son (Like I do .. he's 17, then you can talk cellphones. :p)

This caused me to break my silence too! Noone here at work cares, even though I tried to explain it to them.

Glad you're here! :D

That would be awesome! I'd of course much rather have a brand new shiny phone in my hot little hands but I definitely would not complain about having an ICS rom running on my OG or Xoom even.

Well, I've been married 21 years. The Darling Bride says I never talk to her. SO I have her pause the Wifetime TV movie and try to explain that I'm breathlessly awaiting the Samsung/Google CTIA, hoping to see ICS & Prime since it's due at the FCC. I get the deer-in-the-headlights look and then Wifetime movie resumes (courageous wife saves family from evil husband... AGAIN :p ).

Sometimes it's good to have fellow geeks to talk to: and I'm thankful to be here!

I wonder if that Bed & Breakfast she wants me to take her to has 4G & WIFI...

BLAH, BLAH, I hate Apple. Verizon this and Verizon that. Who makes the most phones.(Who cares). ICS or GB. My Aunt said she likes Jelly beans better. ETC...

Sorry, I just needed to vent;)

Its all lies until FCC says different .

Ah, I had for some reason forgotten about my Xoom. This may finally give me a reason to root it. It'll be interesting to see what the dev community can do with tablets. I'm sure the possibilities are endless!
