New member here, I've been following this forum for a couple weeks now and finally decided to join. I have an OG Droid with CyanogenMod7.1.0 - Droid-winner00 on it. I've been eligible for an upgrade for a couple months now and was really hoping to get the Galaxy S II but when Verizon decided not to get it I decided to wait... and I continue to wait... for the Galaxy Nexus! :)

Welcome!

Hopefully nobody posted this in the time it took me to set up my account and join the board:

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Cases Arrive at Verizon Stores

Verizon, for whatever reason, won

Does anyone plan to use a case?

I plan on using a leather pouch or something similarly all-encompassing - something to keep it snug and safe except when in use... just in case I need to sell it for a quad core sometime! (plus I have little kids who like to grab things and knock them off of tables/counters)

Is anyone using the CM7 ICS theme for their phone right now?

I have a few questions about how to set it up completely and how I can get the ICS style launcher and lock screen that I have seen some people have with theirs??

Thanks!

Also I realize this post is at least few days old but one of the things I thought of when you guys were dismissing the Rezound as being ICS ready as a marketing ploy is the fact it has the same screen resolution as the Galaxy Nexus, and ICS is optimized for that resolution. Just my 2 cents. :)

Not a big fan of cases either but I did put a CaseMate Barely There case on my Thunderbolt and it really is that slim. Might consider one for the GNex if they make it.

Am I the only one who doesn't want to use anything ICS related on my crappy Droid? I want my first ICS experience to be the pure, real deal. I don't want to be spoiled.

I downloaded an ICS theme launcher but deleted it before installing. :p

A commentor on Droid-Life just made a very good point!

Question... why would they launch the phone web only and then have cases in the store? It seems like this means that the phone will actually be in the store at some point.

Of course that doesn't preclude a web-only launch followed by in-store availability, but I'm going to use some of my endless optimism to call the web-only release rumor complete bunk!

It's more HTC's history of shoddy updating that we were dismissing.

I purchased a case for my Droid however ended up taking it off and leaving it off because every time it was a pain with using my gps mount. After getting the Galaxy Nexus and spending a couple weeks with it I will decide whether I want a case, I'm pretty sure I won't end up picking one up though since I want to enjoy the slimness of the Galaxy Nexus.

Absolutely. I haven't seen too many cases on the internet yet, so seeing them in stores already seems to indicate they might be there soon.
