Wow! The negativity! What on earth are some of you going to complain about next if VZW makes good on their promise to deliver a great phone? It's possible you know. In fact, I contend that some great phones have been released from them in the past. Lighten up Francis! :-p

What will we complain about? Very little. We're not Verizon haters. Otherwise we would have left already. But what great phones have they released in the past? OG Droid? Okay. Anything else?

Eris? Crap. Tbolt? Crap. Charge? Not as bad as Tbolt, but not "great". Revolution? Crap. Incredible? Crap. Incredible 2? Good, not "great". What else do you have? Blackberry Storm 2? Please.

Droid X? Passable. X2? Crap. Bionic? Not terrible, except for the disgusting excuse for a screen, the loud screeching in the background of music, the 3G/4G network dropping that won't be fixed til November. . .crap!

iPhone? That's the orgasmic perfect ideal for millions. But they're idiots.

We're not iSheep. Verizon sucks in the phone department. They rock in the network department. We want a little bit of balance, that's all.

Thanks SO much! Couldn't have said it better myself!

In another bit of semi-positive news:

No Nexus Branded Phone Is Going To Have A Keyboard - Thedroidguy

I know, I know, droidguy has no credibility. I'm just the messenger!

Edit: Seems to just be an opinion. It's interesting that he didn't say "Oh, I saw this thing and it didn't have a keyboard", like he's leaning away from claiming his hands-on testing of the phone. This guy has gotten so much flak for his Nexus reports, it's funny.

Sadly, there's STILL a chance of a keyboard: either on the supposed Samsung "Galaxy Nexus" or "Droid Prime". One (or both) of those phones is NOT the Google Nexus device.

Are we talking about THREE phones now?

Then again, I'll only believe a Google Nexus-branded phone on Verizon when I see it. We'll probably end up with one of the afore-mentioned devices instead of the Google Nexus, and one of the two will be a slider.

Knowing Verizon, it'll be the one that would make us "very happy", and not the one that Vigor beats. In which case, I'm stuck with yet ANOTHER friggin' slider, because this poor Droid is about at its limit for playing the waiting game... and so am I.

While I agree that most of VZ phones are crap, I have been extremely happy with the Incredible .... great phone with a great bunch of Devs working on ROMs around the clock. Although VZ likes to bloat the hell out of their phones if you have a good following and DEV community the phone will end up being awesome (it just needs to have really good specs)

On a side note...why is it that VZ is so far behind the other carriers with their phones??? If you have the best network (which they do) why not back it up with some kick ass phones. I don't think that's too much to ask. Bring the Nexus Prime to us and I will be satisfied!

I believe they have Apple's mentality. In Verizon's world you ARE getting the best out there and you better believe it.

From Black_man_X on Twitter:

"... Lot of great devices coming."

I hope his definition of "great" is similar to OUR definition of "great". There may be hope for us all yet.

Honestly, I expect VZW to release the Samsung Nexus Prime with stock vanilla + VZW apps and bloatware. It sucks. It really does. However, it most likely will be the spec beast most of us have anticipated, it probably will have an unlocked bootloader, and hopefully *crosses fingers* it has indentical hardware to the vanilla google nexus device, so that we can have a common dev community and get almost instant ROM updates.

At best we get a PURE Google beast. At the worst, we get a monster of a phone with bloat that is easily removed. So stop worrying and getting caught up in all these crazy rumors.

I just hope it comes out soon, has decent battery life and the audio isn't crap on it so I can finally carry a single device instead of two :S

I don't see any of this as bad news. Personally, I think we're all going to come out of this very happy.

He's also saying:

"guys.. I never actually said it would be Nexus branded. I see alot of devices and design that never see release"

I think he's referring to the Droidguy article saying that no Nexus would have a keyboard.

This is all so confusing.

I don't think this would suck. This would be a relief, based on all the pessimistic thoughts I'm having.

I wish I was as optimistic as you, X24. IMO, at best we get a PURE Google Nexus beast. At worst, we get NOTHING. I'm too jaded at this point by the SGSII and Bionic fiasco that if we get only a Charge 2 with no ICS, I unfortunately will not be surprised in the least.

Guys don't get too worked up over this whole thing. Just resign yourself to the fact that we are dealing with Verizon and are not getting anything special (as usual). If by chance they do surprise us all the better. If not it is what it is. I'm personally prepared to get news of the "Charge 2"

As was already pointed out we have the iPhone and Android isn't their major concern or focus anymore.

edit: one last thought. This whole thing about them passing on the SGSII because it wasn't competitive enough and they wanted something better. I say....yeah right.

I would say I'm even one notch more pessimistic...at best we get a beast of a phone with bloat easily removed. At worst, we get NOTHING.

Theoretically if there is no Samsung 'beast phone', there's still the Vigor, Revolution2, and a couple other goodies coming.

But honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the Prime being canceled ;)

I can't wait to see this phone. Because I want to know what Verizon's definition of "you will be very happy" is. From there I will know what to expect in the future from them when they utter that phrase.

Nothing Verizon has out right now is that great, but IMO the Charge is the closest. If they had dropped in a dual core processor, 1GB of RAM, and sizable internal memory (even just 8gb), it would have been a great release back in May, and certainly a 2 year phone. The display is amazing. The size is fine (even though it's not super thin). Even the battery life is good for the hardware. The only thing that was crap was the software, of course, and that holds a lot of these phones back. Maybe what they need to do is focus on fewer hardware builds with more forward thinking features and keep their software development teams committed and focused on key software builds instead of spreading them all over the place. The fact that the dev community can offer you a much better experience on these phones vs what you get out of the box is downright pathetic.

The reason why Verizon is so behind the 8 ball with top notch phones is,
they have to R&D their so called OS (Bloatware) on the phone which takes time. That is why the other cell companies can release nice phone well ahead of Verizon.

Verizon stole Donald Trumps saying; Money, Money Money. " MONEY"

I mean, seriously? Use the Bionic for 5min in the store and you still have no idea for it. Give it a couple weeks and you really get used to it and the "screen door effect" goes away. While, for the most part I agree with you on the lackluster selection of VZW Androids since the OG, the Incredible was awesome (call it Verizons version of the N1 since rooting and ROMing). The X2 was pretty worthless. The D3 is solid if you need a physical KB.
For the past couple months I was seriously debating leaving VZW after 8years for both their selection of phones and their bend-over prices. I live in a big city that has pretty solid coverage from all carriers, so T-Mo was in the running.
The one thing I've come to realize (which should be obvious for all you folks), is that this big carriers (mainly VZW and ATT) have the money and power to skin and lock down all these phones. Look at the small guys (Cricket, Virgin, T-Mo to a degree) and they have a ton of Vanilla, unlocked phones. Android is open source, and it's a hell of a lot easier/cheaper to get OEM's to develop a plain jane skin on their phones.
For myself, I pay the premium to have exceptional service and coverage. I never really cared about phones until the D1, and now I'm hooked
I used our first upgrade for the Bionic, and I really like it. The new Blur is actually quite nice. And LTE, well, I get 4 bars inside my apartment and it flies :p If and when the Prime hits, I'll use our second upgrade for it and give the Bionic to my wife (who's said it's already too big anyway). But for now, living with dual core + LTE is sweet. I still can't wait to see what the Bionic brings :D

Dreadnaty88,
So you are having second thoughts about the Bionic?
Is that why you are surfing the Nexus forums?
Is the Bionic really that bad?

I am sure glad I passed on the Bionic.:D

I don't want a phone that I have to get used to before it gets less crappy. I want the same feeling I had when I unboxed and activated my OG Droid. Something along the lines of "Holy crap, this phone is awesome!"

Not "Well. . . hopefully that will go away. . . ."

Agreed. I need to feel as if I'm on the cutting edge of tech for at least 6 to 8 months. That's how it was with my DX (wasn't happy about the encrypted bootloader, though.)

Bionic fans went through worse dark days in April~June though I don't think it turned out to be the phone worth that much wait. I guess this frustrating wait for prime will be over for us sooner and better than that.
