daam i want this phone but i have metro and there is a rumor that metro might get it but i dont think they will i guess ill just buy the lg esteem what do you guys think

I guess I'm confused, because you say that your 'cooling off' is due to GNex not being what we thought, but then you reference the RAZR, which in my opinion is (spec-wise), an obvious downgrade in terms of screen, battery (1780mah in RAZR is more than 1750mah in Nexus, but figure in carrier bloat and non-removable battery and I don't think the RAZR is that much better. I would rather have a spare battery than 2 extra hours of life). Also, the source who said RAZR had better battery life never actually held the RAZR from my understanding, they just talked to someone who did. My worry about the RAZR's processor isn't just overclocking capability. The 4460 underclocked to 1.2ghz would operate much more efficiently than a 4430 overclocked to 1.2ghz, which would generate more heat and suck that (non-removable) battery faster. Given, this may not be the same 4430 that was in past Droids due to binning, but we don't know for sure.

I totally understand where you are coming from though in terms of personal preference. The RAZR is definitely sleek and rugged looking, that's for sure. But while you value that, I value performance, and those who put an additional case or sleeve on their phone is losing that aesthetic (hopefully the RAZR's durability would forsake the need for one, but it's an unknown). I have a Droid Incredible with a 2gb card, and don't really struggle with space. I stream all of my music through Google Music.

So, for me, the lack of SD card isn't much of a problem, especially if we get the 32gb version.

I think some of the unmet expectations stem from the rampant specs that were floating around in this thread. I'm not sure how much better the specs of the phone could have been. Processor at 1.5 I guess. There was a ton of conversation about processors that were just announced to be going to sampling. The processor in the GNex is pretty much the best available for production right now. Sure in about 6 months we'll have the newer processors coming that were just announced but that's how long it takes to ramp up and have phones produced using it. I'm not really sure what other specs could have been better in this phone. And sure other phones coming out right now have about the same specs. That's the way it always is. All these manufacturers are working from basically the same processors, memory, screens, etc being available.

I think they also were working with a relatively new tech(lte) and wanted to strike a balance between, specs, performance and battery life and the specs they came with were the best they could get without having really bad battery life. I mean these specs still match up with anything out now and anything slated to come out the next few months. You also have to remember the nexus line never was blow everything out of the water specs it was more aimed toward developers.

Just posted this on the size thread, but figured you guys would like it too.

Samsung GALAXY Nexus Visual Size Comparison

Size comparison for the Gnex (or any other phone). I compared it to the Razr and my D2 and didn't realize from the videos how thin both the Razt and the Gnex are! The Razr is unbelievably thin if this comparison is accurate. It looks like its just the thickness of the screen on my D2.

Don't get me wrong, i WILL be getting the SGN, BUT, that razr just boggles my mind.

I can't get it to work. I select Droid X from the list but there is no add button that I see and if I click on something else and click on Droid X again it says it's already in the list but it won't show it.

We already knew this to be true but to have it stated this way... Verizon...

I know this has been said time and again, but the OG Droid, Thunderbolt, the Xoom, and plenty of other Verizon devices that I can't remember right now all have unlockable bootloaders. I don't think Verizon is the only one at fault here. Motorola's just as big a culprit for locking the Razr bootloader. They have sway with Verizon, if they felt strongly about the bootloader, they'd take a stand. But they want a locked bootloader just as much as Verizon. Sad but true.

Did google say that their nexus line was a developers phone? I mean. I dont get what makes it a developer phone? Is it because it has ICS? NFC? Barometer? Facelock?

Spec-wise this is as good or nearly as good as anything on the market. What exactly is a developers phone?

Wouldn't every phone be a developers phone?

Agreed; I wouldn't entirely blaim Vzw. However, you have to remember that Vzw has locked bootloaders on almost all their phones (as far as I know). Only difference is that Motorola encrypts the bootloader as well as signing other partitions.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Well it's the first phone with ICS and it gets updates before every other phone, so developers can support the new OS before it hits every device.

wow, someone's panties are in a bunch...

Let's see how many people who said they didn't care about running ROMs sway from the RAZR now ;)

Lol. I agree. Anyone who hasn't used a locked down phone for an extended amount of time doesn't understand how frustrating it can be. I hope to dissuade anyone in this thread from it :D

Not only that, but with an unlocked BL dev'rs can flash roms and tweak the OS quite a bit. That is what makes it a dve'r device.
