I find it extremely hard to believe that they wouldn't subsidize it. Like it was said before, they'd lose millions upon millions of dollars.
Having said that, if they did refuse to do it, I'd stay. My wife loves her unlimited data on the iPhone, and it's the only network with real 4G on an extensive network. I'd probably go the RAZR route. A locked bootloader isn't a deal breaker to me, since I'd probably just slap Launcher Pro on it and move on. It'd kill me not to have ICS or an HD screen, but I don't want to wait til next year and the Vigor (I refuse to call it by it's real, stupid name) has the same battery issues as other HTC phones, I'm sure.

Well, if the posts I read are to be believed, we're (well, I'm) expecting a launch date from Verizon tomorrow. Maybe I read the posts completely out of context... I don't know... but there are still some pieces of this puzzle missing and Verizon needs to fill in the blanks:
16GB or 32GB?
Launch Date?
Subsidized or not?
Size of the battery?
Once we have THOSE answers, all we can really do is gossip about specs and bean-dip in this thread until the first person picks one up in the store
Is the RAZR released or pre-ordered for Oct 27th. If released, then I don't expect to see an announcement for another week. Besides, all the press beforehand on the RAZR event leads me to believe it's another week since we've heard absolutely zero about a launch announcement for the GNex.
When a phone is announced, like the recently release razr and 4S, they normally give you talk time, video time, etc, etc.
Do we think they've got something to hide, or merely didn't think to mention it?

In my profession and with life in general, if it seems too good, it is. If it looks like chit, smells like chit, it is........... chitty. I bet when you call for customer service you get a rep named Peggy with a mans voice, eh?
I bet you can cruise craigslist and find some nice chit there too.
I'll pay a tad extra for the right to call Verizon and hammer them into submission.

Can you give examples of why you think this will come tomorrow? I thought verizon's hesitancy to publicly commit to the G-Nex had to do with wanting to give the RAZR a fair chance, in which case I wasn't planning on hearing any further verizon plans until after the 27th.

27th is pre-order date for RAZR, and I'm guessing November 3 is actual release.

I'd consider it unsubsidized, depending on the cost. Then I have an extra upgrade that I can use anytime.
If it's 599, then it's only 300 more than the 299 I'm already paying. 300 is a drop in the bucket compared to the thousands I pay under contract. And I'm sure I could always sell it and recoup a good portion of that investment.

With all signs (except FCC) pointing to a November 10th release, Verizon only has a few short days to announce this thing. We're talking 16 days until we can potentially OWN THIS PHONE!
EDIT: Yeah, maybe I was wrong about Tuesday... but Verizon is still getting intense pressure from us and time to do some talking up about RAZR and Nexus.

I saw that too, and was going to post a link to it, but I don't think it really relates to us. There have been too many Samsung phones released in Europe that don't see U.S. shores until months later. (Not that this is one of those occasions, but still, Europe could announce it's coming tomorrow and I still wouldn't know what to think about our chances.)

Yeah, just saw that as well. So, it's possible we'll see something Tues, but I thought historically, Verizon did all thier announcements and releases on Thursdays. The RAZR event on a Tues was an annomally.

Verizon officially announced the Bionic and put it on sale the NEXT DAY

Millions upon millions? I'm not following the logic. How so? Normally I follow you, but you've lost me here. I'm presuming you think because a bunch of people are planning on jumping to Verizon, but won't otherwise? That seems to be the only logical progression of the thinking because as you noted below, you're going to just move to the Razr and not leave, so no harm no foul...I think most people ON VERIZON will do the same...Thoughts?

I think many of us are looking for systematic patterns of releases by Verizon, when in truth they are just winging it. Perhaps some of it's contractural, some delivery issues, some business case decisions, and other is just plain luck of the draw (like if it was a holiday the week prior).

People on contract are money in the bank. People off contract aren't. Verizon will do whatever they can to make sure you are on contract.
I don't think they'd lose money in the short term, but don't like the prospect of potential loss of revenue long term.

I have a contract renewal on my plan as well.
You could actually pay the full price for the GNex, renew the contract with the Razr at the subsidized cost and sell it. The difference will subsidize your GNex.
With that being said, I would just keep my upgrade for the next phone....maybe.

I think the Bionic launch was messed up by manufacturing delays. I think they had wanted to launch this phone back in July. By the time it was ready it was a matter of getting it out the door ASAP to at least get some sales off it before the GN,VIGOR, and RAZR came out and up staged it spec wise...

Out of curiosity, have there been other phones that have been released unsubsidized? I'm not aware of any, though I'm no expert. Just wondering if we're expecting a deviation from the norm from Verizon (because no bloat or something?) or just guessing because pricing wasn't given? Seems like a no brainer, but again I'm no expert...
