btw the_chief I dig saying your user name in Spanish for some reason (I do mission work in Nicaragua and speak pretty good espanol).

 
Good Morning/ afternoon/ Evening (which ever applies to you :)).
First off let me say thanks to Steven58, HanS., HanS. sister, our lovely Mods and everyone else in this thread.

I just wanted to share my excitement for the phone that we will all have with in the next week or so *fingers crossed" I was so excited about getting the Galaxy Nexus that I completely forgot about my upgrade wasn't going to be available until 8/15/12 :(..... So I decided to call VZW about my numerous phone issues, my upgrade being transferred without me knowing and other little things. I asked to talk to one of the supervisors and was told I would get a call back. Less than 15 mins later I received a call! The rep apologized multiple times for my problems with the phone and how my upgrade was transferred. So she offered me a "Certified Like New" device and I said no thank you but if I get anything it would have to be something I want and something I can hold on to for a while. She asked well what are you interested in and I said the Samsung Galaxy Nexus! She continued with saying on we don't have a release date for that yet, but it should be out soon. I said ok then I shall wait until I can get it. Then she said well We would like to thank you for being a loyal customer and offer you an early upgrade! A $20 credit for the early upgrade fee and you $30 customer loyalty discount!

Long story short I'm getting my Nexus with a little discount :D

OK catch up later I have to get ready for school!
 
Not because if the 14 day thing, but because you may end up like me... had the ReZound for six hours now and LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Unless battery life is truly terrible on this thing, I may be one of those lost souls who spent a ton of time in here and did NOT end up with a Nexus.

All the videos look good, glad to see next week looks solid for you guys, but I am gonna toss on my Beats headphones and rock out to some Far East Movement while hittin the treadmill.

Peace, love, confirmed release and a Happy Thanksgivingto all the Nexians, pour one out for me when it finally releases. :)
 
Reading this thread makes waiting for this phone so much easier. Shame I'll have to wait until 12/29 for my Ice Cream Sandwich while all of you sloppily pig out. :p Small question: How close is this to the DInc thread? I was a little more active in that one than I have been here, alas, college consumes my life. :rolleyes:

Also, anyone read The Verge's review? Topolsky seems extremely impressed, and I was kind of caught by surprise. Hasn't he traditionally been an Apple guy, dating back to his days with Engadget? He gave performance and software a 10, and as far as I know the same two categories garnered an 8 and a 9 on the 4S.

I've asked this question twice now, and both times they said no, it's only 14 days from activation.

Verizon will not sell you a phone knowing you are returning it if you tell them that is your intention to basically rent they will not sell to you that is a pretty strict policy I have seen people run into in person.

Speaking of "broken family", I was better off when GNex was rumored delayed to mid December, since I'd already purchased the Rezound (on the 14th--to replace a desperately-needed phone that broke on the 11th). It kind of "made my decision for me".

Now, however, if this baby turns up next week, I have a decision to make. I *love* the Rezound. After 4 days, it's the best phone I've ever owned. But the GNex holds a lot of allure, a brand new version of Android and a major upgrade (similar to going from Eclair to Froyo). I'll have a hard time parting with the Rezound, though, because it's just plain a great phone. If I have battery life or other issues with the GNex, I'll be kicking myself (and my wife will join in if she can't reach me...).

Decisions and anticipation. Ugh!

IMPORTANT NEWS!

Just got off the phone with my local Verizon store's manager.

I said I had been reading up online regarding the release date and he said that it will be available to pre-order tomorrow and they will have them IN-STORE on Monday. He's an extremely trusted source, accurately confirming the Incredible and Thunderbolt release dates before Verizon announced them, so I trust his word on this. Just to add to the confirmation of these dates! I AM EXCITED BEYOND BELIEF :)

BTW this whole GNex anticipation has gotten in the way of my schoolwork lol. I haven't done my homework for a few nights because I simply can't stop updating reddit/this thread regarding new information o.o

Ummm, I don't want to argue that point, I think you're right. :)

For the benefit of all concerned - you know mods have an invisibility mode and can obscure what posts / threads it seems they're in.

And as I mentioned much earlier in this thread (when UBRocked was here, just before OfTheDamned returned) - there are more mods here than just the few you see posting.

Sometimes we're slow and you can see the bad stuff - often we are not.

I suppose that's possible.

But what's more likely?
1. Verizon offers the "God" return policy which would handcuff them from offering anything from today to Jan. 9th that's better then their current lineup

or

2. We are misunderstanding a policy which has been run before, and is meant for holiday presents rather than a return policy for normal activations?

However, that put things squarely into the holiday for delivery. Something tells me a pre-ordered phone won't get to us before Monday anyway... so I may as well be at the store 20 minutes before they open.

Dang Eastern Time Zone folks - you get to play an hour before I do! :cool:
 
Stopped by a different corporate verizon store today than yesterday and when I asked about the Gnex and they knew what I was talking about, unlike the guys from the mall store last night. No word on a release date but assumes it will be out on or before black friday. He also told me they are expecting training materials this weekend and they have accessories in stock but he couldn't show them to me. Sounds like good news to me.

I've tried my best to not let this get in the way of my schoolwork. Seeing as how I have to wait until December regardless of when this phone is released, I convinced myself not to worry about it by justifying that the extra month of time would help to get any initial bugs worked out regarding the OS and any incompatible apps. Lol
