when does double data promo end? I was counting on that for gnex

I have contacted Verizon multiple times to ask about that. They refuse to give an answer. I found in a forums somewhere there were rumors of it ending 11/30 since the word was it was a November only special.

I have heard other places that it is a holiday special and will go on through 1/05/2012 or something.

The truth is no one knows. I am seriously debating if I should pick up rezound rentals on the 30th or not. I will definitely be scouting for info on when the double data will end as we get closer to the 30th. I will post it if I find anything concrete.

ICS is a momentary perk. Not a reason to buy the phone. In a month all the notable superphones will be running it. Heck, I've been running Gingerbread on a two year old Droid for months.

I want the Nexus experience and hardware, regardless of the software version that ships on it.

Wait too long and the hardware advantage shifts leaving only the Nexus experience to pull me in...not enough, frankly. Get a move on, Verizon.

Exactly! The only reason that I like the Nexus is because of Samsung makes a good cell phone and I wanted the SGSII from the get go. Now that the other companies are following suit with nice phones as well, I may just forget this and move on.:(

I thought I would be more upset about the December 8th date, but as CK points out in his cleverly constructed post, it is just a phone. At the end of the day, it really means nothing.

I think the thing that bothers me the most about this entire launch (or lack thereof) is that I have no choice. I can't just jump ship to AT&T and get the phone, or to Sprint and get the phone, because Verizon has exclusive rights to it for some time period. This eliminates competition, and IMHO, is terrible for consumers. If you want a Nexus, there is only one carrier that has it (in the U.S.), so you are stuck playing by their rules.

If AT&T announced the phone, and Sprint announced the phone, it would be a totally different story.

I really wish this phone wasn't an exclusive, because it might actually encourage Verizon to give us some information so that we don't jump ship.

Anyway, if anyone reads anything I have written (I don't blame you if you don't :)), I was very skeptical of a lot of the November and December rumors. I still have hopes for a launch next week, but if there is no launch next week, I won't be surprised.

And, I won't care either because I will be eating delicious turkey, and spending thanksgiving with my family.

The google page also shows the UK device as being only offered in 16 gb as well. I have a facebook message into the sole provider of Nexi in England asking them if they have the 32 gb version. If they do, then we can assume it will be offered here, as well.

Those who are saying that Verizon should just announce a date ... do you want them to just make one up, even if it's wrong?

This bears repeating: Verizon does not know the date yet. They are still deciding. There are multiple factors that go into their decision-making process, both technical and business-related, and we might not like the way they do it. But I can't see what it would accomplish to have them announce a date that might be wrong.

Maybe we should be blaming Google and Samsung: they really should not have announced the Galaxy Nexus until everything was all set and ready to go. (You can be sure that's what Apple does.) Instead they jumped the gun, announcing the phone before Verizon was ready.

What really happened, I'd bet, is that they were forced to rush the announcement because of the iPhone 4S. But it really was too soon.

I just got off the phone with my friend from Verizon. Even though I normally don't bother him with questions (he hates discussing work) I actually did this time. Now, I am paraphrasing big time here, but this is more or less what he was telling me.

On the subject of 32GB he told me that this is the only version he has ever known about. There was never a discussion about a 16GB option in any meeting he ever attended. He reminded me that that doesn't mean there isn't one, but that all references made to the specs of the device he has talked about or was talked to about had 32GB of memory on board.

On the subject of bloatware and delays he told me that the My Back Up Assistant app is planned to be Verizon's version of iCloud. The latest is supposed to support document and picture backup and not just contacts. He also mentioned future plans of being able to back up almost everything. While he didn't say that he specifically knew of any delays due to software he said that Verizon is determined to have this app on every phone they sell, including future versions of the iPhone. He also stated that he was not aware of any delays at the moment, but did say that there are plenty of stores/employees that have not had any sort of training on the device yet.

No release date info beyond the typical, don't worry it is coming soon that I usually hear.

So that is what I have for you guys today. :D

Thank you. It means a lot to me, and I'm sure I can say to a lot of others, that you went out of your way to call someone to see what you could find out; especially when you have stated prior to today that you normally do not ask specific questions regarding work.

Thank God!!! That should make people feel a lot better. I for one never fell for it only having 16gb.

Thank god? for 16gb?? wtf? This is NOT good news. Notice too, that now the UK version has been changed to 16gb only as well. Looks like we will SURELY only have a 16gb option.

This is a total deal breaker for me. My last two iPhones have been 32gb. I have been use to this storage amount and can not go backwards. Looks like I will probably be picking up the SGS2 on AT&T. Didn't someone say there would be a 0.01 deal on black friday??

Ignore that reply, I either read it wrong or he edited his post on me.

The Nexus page for Verizon (the 1850 battery) now shows only 16GB. No more 32GB.

Galaxy Nexus
Yes, some of the specs seem VZW specific, since they list specs for the LTE version, including the 1850 battery. That said, under network, it says "Varies," not Verizon, or CDMA, or HSPA+, which implies that this page is at least intended to be a little more generic than you may currently believe. Also, it's entirely possible that 32gb was deleted from that page by mistake and will be corrected first thing Monday (or whenever the webmaster gets to it).

I've got a friend in sales at VZW, whom I trust, who got his hands on a LTE demo unit (via Samsung rep visit) last week, and the unit he played with was 32gb. That said, I know that no one on this forum has reason to put any stock in me or my friend, but I at least feel pretty good that the VZW GNex will have 32gb of storage.

Go to the mall, read a book, go to the book store, work-out, play a video game, watch a movie, make some lunch, go get some lunch, write a love letter to your wife, call your wife and tell her how much you appreciate her then go out and get her a small gift. Tons of things to do :)

The Apple guys called it Hans. Their date never changed.

I can see you now; siting at your pc in day old clothes, full beard, bloodshot eyes, hair in disarray, tie slung around your collar pounding away at your keys typing draft letters to Verizon lol.

Not worth it brother. I promise you

Now get outta here and relax :)

says the lurker who seems to be on top of everything that's transpired here in the last 4 hours?

lol

I also have a nasty cold. So nope, I'm staying in today. Got the fireplace going and a nice big mug of hot chocolate. :)

Thank God!!! That should make people feel a lot better. I for one never fell for it only having 16gb.

What are you seeing? It still says only 16GB. (Not that I believe it isn't a typo.)

Ctrl+F5. Reset your cache. It has been 16GB all morning.

No need to, when I checked it a couple hours ago it was 16, when I clicked on your link it was 32, I closed that and opened it up again and now its back to 16 again... Oh well I still don't believe the verizon nexus will only be 16gb

I still haven't picked up the Rezound yet, for 1 reason and 1 reason only. I know how much I have loved my prior 2 HTC devices, and I know if I pick it up, I'm not going to trade it out for the Nexus. BUT, it hasn't been rooted or S-Off yet, and that fact was integral in my loving the Inc and Eris as much as I did so the thought of having to keep it stock and running it on HTC's clock scares me.

I really don't think we will be seeing this phone before the 8th. My rep said he would call and text the minute he knew something more than I do, so as far as he is concerned, they don't have phones, demo or otherwise, in and nothing has changed beyond marketing and accessories. The question is, do I continue to use a phone borrowed from Verizon for the better part of another 3 weeks, taking the chance that it could wind up broken and I would be out the cost of that phone plus the cost of buying another? Or do I jump ship?

You can do what you want, but I'd advise you to wait and see. I don't think 16gb for VZW is the final, or even correct, answer.

All be that I would like to agree with you, under Data it shows LTE/CDMA only. There is no mention of GSM anywhere. The site is a bit confusing, though. Hopefully a 32gb will surface.

Yeah, missed that. However, unless I'm missing something else, I don't see anything that says "Verizon only" (yeah, I know CDMA is only VZW, but still!)

The one I played with yesterday also had 32gb.

Hope you feel better!!
Thanks!

hey my brethren and....sistren? lol, how's everyone? i slipped out for a few to get some errands done, can someone kindly give me an update?

I accidentally got the thread locked down for an hour because of a long letter we worked on to flood Verizon with.

Rob, yes that Rob, came in and offered to do a letter himself and do a Phandroid article on it. (How cool is he, seriously??)

CK stopped by and tinkled in our Cheerios.

That's about it, I think.

Lol... I was wondering. Didn't make sense.

When I first heard that only the 16gb model would be availible in the UK, I started getting worried but told myself surely Verizon would not be stupid enough to try to market a 16gb capped device for $299 so it would surely be 32gb. Looks like I should have trusted my gut feeling.

For those hoping if its 16gb it will be $199, keep dreaming. Verizon will NOT release a top tier phone that has 4G LTE for under $299 no matter the storage space. They will not lower that bar until someone can compete with them in LTE, and AT&T is NOT catching up anytime soon without the tmobile merger to break up this monopoly.
