I just got off the phone with my cellular provider that was running around with one of the higher-ups (his words) in Verizon yesterday. He ordered 6 phones from the Verizon corporate office and they will be in his store tomorrow. Because of the knowledge that I fed him over the past months (I informed him of the phone's existence before October 17th) and the fact that I have completely harassed (not really) him with emails, 3 of those phones are mine (wife, buddy and me). He obtained all my needed information (account password, SS#) so that he could go ahead and assign me a SIM(s) and throw it in the phone(s) to await activation. WOOT!
He said that the delay has nothing to do with the LTE issue and EVERYTHING to do with the botched software update. He also said that they are feverishly working on a fix and that tomorrow is unlikely, BUT possible. They want this phone out as badly as we want it. He threw out Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday as possible release dates.
