Hi everyone. I have an iPhone 3G and am ready to switch to Incredible. I am thinking about ordering today to take advantage of free activation (which ends today) but am having last minute second thoughts because I've not seen and used the phone in person. I have a couple of questions:

1. Is the touch sensitivity on the Incredible at par with iPhone? Better/worse? I understand many may have not used an iPhone but any comments on how good or bad will be helpful.

2. Anything else that you've found that made you think you should have pulled the plug too soon (and waited until seeing in person)? I've read tons of reviews but wanted to see if anyone who's already got the phone may have something I could have missed.

3. Since many of us will be getting the first few batches, can that be a problem? e.g. what if there are hardware issues etc.? Do we always get a new replacement or can it be a refurbished as well?

I'll really appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks much.

I own a Iphone 3GS and I have had a chance to play with the Incredible for about 15 minutes, I can tell you that everything on the Incredible is better than the Iphone 3GS in every way. Touch sensitivity is better, its way faster, it feels thinner and the screen is MUUUUUCH better as is the camera and the camera features. There is absolutely nothing about the Iphone 3GS that i like better than the incredible NOTHING... Hope that helps calm your inhibitions...

O and can someone point me to the FEDEX document that you can leave signed for them if you are not going to be home when it ships? I thought I read it earlier in the thread.

yea, i saw that. i was thinking maybe they sold out and wont have any until may?? but the people who pre order will have them on the 29th..

The most likely scenario:

Well, since they figure that each BB is going to have a very limited number of phones available on the 29th, and since there's a good chance that most of those will get taken by pre-orders, that they'd probably be better off just hedging their bets and saying May to be on the safe side, since May 1st is only two days after the launch anyway.

I actually don't think we are that far off, we should have our orders processed by tonight I'm thinking. I also ordered on 4/20 and have a 32744xxxx number.

From the other thread, they are already processing 327425xxx orders. And it keeps changing like every 10 minutes or so. If it keeps going at this pace, I am thinking we will get the processing status around 4 or 5 p.m. (pacific time).

I was just going through and watching as well as reading all the reviews online about the Incredible as well as the 15 minutes I had to play with it, and it seems like this is one of the best (highly) reviewed phones I have ever seen. Cnet I noticed gave it an editors choice which is nice. Only thing that has bothered me was that a couple reviewers found it to be a bit plasticky. I personally found the phone to be completely solid and not plasticky at all. Personally the incredible feels much more solid than the Moto droid. Just wanted to post my $.02

A user (keving) who has already received their incredible mentioned that the vibration was very weak. I keep my phone on vibrate 100% of the time, and not being able to feel it would almost be a deal-breaker. Anyone else with the phone in hand experience this?

I've been trying to cancel mine for 3 days. Every time I call they're not open. I sent them an email asking them to cancel a couple days ago. I hope to hear from them soon.

For me, that was some of the best stuff in this thread. I still have a mental image of that jerk HTC rep in my mind. I can see him now, eating doughnuts and dribbling coffee on his tie.. I pictured him as overweight and sweaty.. Not sure if that was where MM was going or not, but that is what I painted in my mind.. I was glued to my monitor for the outcome on that one!

Oh crap, this is the real indicator of the immanent demise of the thread, when we start reminiscing about the high points of the thread and how they made us chuckle...

Oh man. I hope that's not the case. Everything is relative, so I'm hoping he has higher standards than most. I really just need it to vibrate enough so that I can feel it in my pocket. I've had phones that vibrate so loud you could here them from another room even it they were under a pillow. I've also had phones that when they vibrate you could hold it in our hand and barely feel it. I'm hoping the D-Inc will be somewhere in between.

OK, we all wan the incredible. Heck I ordered 2 in seperate orders one is processed and one is not. But here is a little food for thought.

When companies like Verizon, Amazon, etc sign contracts with a carrier like FEDEx, there are some conditions to protect the carrier. One is to prevent flooding of te system which something like the Incredible can do. The shippers agree to parse out their shippments to prevent an artificial Christmas Shipping Season if you will. Yes the shippments are going all over the country but when everything comes out of one or two warehouses (i do not know the exact #) it can flood a FedEx hub. There are only so many trucks, planes, etc to move the freight along with all FEDEx's othr customers. I have worked in this industry and my brother is an exec for FEDEx.

So the shipper (Verizon) parses out the shippments over several days. And YES some will likely receive their Incredibles a day or two early. Be happy! FedEx will not put on extra trucks for long haul or delivery just because Verizon wanted to sell tens of thousands of phones and deliver the 29th.

Verizon guaranteed on their site that if you ordered your phone by the 28th at 4:00 PM they would deliver it on the 29th with free ovrnight shipping. As for those that want to be upset about not getting their phone shipped overnight when they ordered it early...... I'm sorry your upset but Verizon it appears is living up to their guarantee of getting it to you by the 29th. If you do not receive it then you have every right to be upset and I would support you 1,0000 percent. I for one and just happy we were allowed to pre-order and have it delivered toour home or office as opposed to dealing with a mad-house in the verizon stores if they had not allowed pre-orders.

There are so many more important things to be upset about in life this is not one of them. Be patient, get your phone on or before the 29th and have an Incredible Day.

Just so you guys know, pre-orders in the store are official and you can go to any corporate VZW and get one reserved. They are held for two days after launch (not that anyone here will get there after 7:01am anyway haha) and all of the stores will open an hour early.

As far as having your package left at your door if you're not there to sign for it... even though Fedex might say they can't, it's at the discretion of the carrier. You can just leave a note taped on the door asking them to leave the package and write your name and sign it and they will leave it if it's a quiet area.

A little OT, but I am hoping to see Google, HTC, Moto, and the cell phone carriers find a way to get all their phones up to 2.2 when it comes out. It would be awesome to not have fragmentation. But I understand why there is-- Stock gets updated first, the carriers need to get the update, test it and decide if it's worth it to update, and companies like HTC with Sense need to update their overlay. I know it is wishful thinking, but I hope we could get the updates to all Android phones within 1-2 months. It would stink for 2.2 to come out (or 3.0 soon) and be stuck with 2.1 on the Incredible. But again, that is the essence of buying a new phone. Back in the day (eg, even now with non-smartphones), when there weren't software updates OTA, the software you got on your phone was the software you were stuck with for 2 yrs. Guess we're spoiled now

I get your point, but I wouldn't describe it as being "stuck with 2.1" when a few weeks ago having 2.1 was all the rage. I, for one, am going to enjoy how great 2.1 is until my phone gets the next upgrade. Just try not to waste too much time worrying about what is coming next at the expense of enjoying what it has now or you will never be happy.

Disappointing...I have followed this phone since Bravo/Passion days and I have to admit that these are disappointing.

Lots and lots of noise in them. Do you know what ISO you were taking them on? This is why MP don't matter...you shove too many on a small sensor and you get noise.

ISO was set to Auto. The pictures really did look great, I think that maybe when the forum resized them, it might have made it look worse. On my computer they look better than the attachments do.

Also stopped by my local VZW store to see if I could get my greedy little hands on one for a split second, spoke with the manager: "We have them in stock", He looked towards the back, "but we've been told that we may absolutely not bring the device to the front of the store before 4/29". He finished with: "I like you man, but I could lose my job. I just can't do it."

Completely false! I've visited now 3 local VZW stores and all of them had the Incredible behind the counter to play with, if you asked. All 3 tho had the rep kinda stand there with you or close by, I guess so you don't make a mad dash outta the store.. LOL.. Luckily at one of the stores, the rep got called to help someone so I was by myself for almost 5mins with it.. Ahhh, <drool>.. haha...

It looks like it just depends on the store manager/employee's. ALL of the VZW stores have them in stock now, just different quantities. So, it's complete BS that they say they can't bring it out or else they will get fired. Pa-leeze... morons

I agree with you completely. I was just sayin'. I do not think we are stuck with 2.1. I just hope it doesn't take 4+ months after 2.2 is released to get it. I still cannot wait to just get an Android phone. I will be happy with the OS for AWHILE. Heck, I wont even know how to use it at first

I don't mean to argue but my order is a 327380*** I pre-ordered @ 10:30 on the 18th and I don't have my shipping confirmation email yet.

I was thinking as much. But, when he hesitated about the accessories, and then admitted they had some in the back, I let it go. I'll take what I can get, and I really wanted to be able to protect the phone right out of the box.
