Yes, and I am not surprised by it. I had read sometime last year that a lot of cell providers and phone manufacturers got together and agreed on starting to use MicroUSB as the standard charging port.

If you think about it, it makes sense. Soon nearly everyone would have a MicroUSB charger, and they would no longer have to include one with every phone. It would save them possibly $5 per phone, maybe more. Of course they wouldn't lower the cost of the phone, and would get people to pay $20-$30 for a new charger once theirs wears out.

Not all manufacturers agreed to it though, one that did not agree was Apple - but why would they. They've always done things their own way. Plus how could they then sell their high priced proprietary accessories.

even if we're still waiting for approval we still get it on thursday right? unless some strange mix up happens and the mess up but it is supposed to come thursday regardless?

Should still be Thursday. VZW has not given any indication to contradict the pre-order info stating that orders before 4pm on the 28th will be delivered on the 29th.
 
Ever since ordering this phone I have had this feeling, similar to the anticipation of receiving an item sold by Woot! occaisionally that is called Random Crap - you never know what you will get, could be Awesome (like a letter from the Woot! Gods, followed by the last item you get - maybe a big TV, or a pallet of 93 boxes of car wax, or a pallet of cases of action figures) or it could be other awesome little stuff, or as they advertise PURE CRAP! They normally sellout in a matter of seconds.

Its just an awesome feeling of anticipation.

quick question. ordered a case over the phone and got an order number. can i put that into the CHECK STATUS on the verizon site? how long should that take to update? how long should it be till i get a tracking number. ordered it at about 130 PST. so the guy gave me free 2 day shipping so i know i'll get it by wednesday. i'm just curious as to how that works.

I really wanted to go to a store this weekend to check one out. What's the point? It would be like watching porn in a crowded room. It may get you worked up, but you can't do anything with it. And you're equally embarrased by the goofy look on your face. :p

Therefore, I've decided that the first DInc will be my own.
 
Is anyone's shipping from Memphis? I checked the tracking on FedEx.com, and they're saying the Memphis shipping hub might be experiencing delays in shipping due to the fact that there were severe thunderstorms the previous night. I hope this doesn't mean my Incredible will be arriving on Thursday instead of Wednesday as it's scheduled for a Wednesday delivery! D: D:
 
I'm not sure if anyone is even interested in info about the phone anymore, but I stopped by the Verizon store on State St. in downtown Chicago today. They have an incredible behind the desk, and they let me play with it for about 20 minutes. Below are some random thoughts about the device.

1. The device is the real deal and it is everything that has been promised.

2. The size and the feel of the device could not be better. The ridges in the back are barely noticeable. The only thing I did not like about the outside of the device was that device was already collecting dirt and dust between the front and sides of the device. If you keep it in your pocket it is going to collect a lot of junk. Otherwise, I do not think the device looks cheap or plasticy at all.

3. The screen is fantastic and very responsive.

4. The speed of the device is awesome. Whether it is flipping through apps or surfing the internet the device screams. I have never used such a snappy device.

5. The on screen keyboard is nearly perfect. Compared to my storm 1 it is so easy and accurate to type on.

6. I am not at all impressed with the camera. It is difficult to use, but it is not really fair to make a judgment after only 20 minutes. Certainly the use of the camera will get easier with time.

I know not all stores have the phone yet, but if you do get a chance to fool around with the device you will not be disappointed. If you have already ordered the device you will be very, very happy.
 
has anyone seen best buy getting any in early to play with? my store (in Denver) says they wont have them until thursday or friday. same with all the verizon stores i called.
 
Regarding Turning Off Sense

You cannot turn off Sense UI on the Incredible as confirmed here. I find this weird since I was able to turn off the home screen portion on my ERIS. But, the Desire does not have the feature either. The Desire that was shown in the youtube video was an early ROM that had everything implemented. HTC felt it necessary to except the stock files making it 100% HTC Sense. :(

If you guys are looking to put the new 3D gallery on your phone, you can visit here for a quick install. And for future reference, if you download it from your phone, you can go straight into installing it skipping a few steps and making life much simpler.
