I am INCREDIBLY mad with Verizon right now. I've never been this furious with customer service in my life. Read on if you're curious.
I heard about the SMART30 promo code today, and read about how some people were about to get the discount applied to their already placed order. I figured I would go ahead and do the same.
I called *611, and explained the situation to the CSR. She told me that I could get my problem resolved by the internet service team (8663387390).
I called the internet service team, and reexplained the situation. The CSR said that she had been handling calls about the SMART30 promo all day and that she would gladly give me the discount if I could provide the credit card used to complete the original transaction. I didn't have it on me, so I asked if I could call back later. She said that she took a screenshot of the file (my account? I'm not sure what it was) and placed it into my account-- she ensured me that the next time I called with the card number, I would get my discount.
A couple hours later (just now), I called again, and reexplained my previous call. This CSR said that there was a recent decision (at 4:30pm or something) about the promo code. I couldn't get the discount because I didn't place the order when the promo was up. She said that the promo was an error and was not supposed to have been up until the 1st. I explained that the other CSR said I would get my discount when I came back with my card, and she got the supervisor on the line.
He said the exact same thing. Apparently, everyone who called in today to get the SMART30 discount WILL NOT get the discount if they didn't place their preorder between sometime the day before yesterday and yesterday (even if you called in before 4:30pm).
After some one-sided words (he kept shutting down anything I had to say with "the "treasury" handles all discount requests"), I gave up.
I was speechless, mad, and frustrated. I simply said "okay, thank you, bye" and hung up because I couldn't think of anything else to say.
So yeah. For everyone who got their discount, I don't think you'll be getting them anymore.
I hate Verizon. All they do is cheat us.
Why should the pre-order people get shafted out of 30 bucks that the people who buy on the 1st day get to save? Because we're eager to get their new phone as quickly as possible? Because we followed the news and got too psyched for it?
What do you guys think? Should I call back? What do I do?
You're an idiot. You were perfectly happy with the price of the phone an hour ago, but as soon as you find out about a promo code you flip your lid. If anybody got the discount, BONUS. If you didn't *shrug* no skin of your nose, you never thought you were getting a bonus in the first place.
