Let me see: How can I drip my information: Ok.. here goes. Over the years, I have cultivated a relationship with someone high up in VZW, who years ago, confirmed to me that the xv6900 was going to be upgraded to wm 6.1 waaay before the info went public.

Via email I asked this person specific questions about the N1 and the Incredible. I will summarize:

N1: There are no plans to sell the N1 in stores or online by VZW. Google has plans to sell it for VZW but there are no plans for VZW to sell it.

Incredible: Nothing to share as the testing process for VZW is so rigorous that many phones do not even make it through the process.

I might share the letter privately but I want to protect my relationship with my source, who has been very good to me.

I believe this person that the N1 will only be sold by Google. I would be nice if that were not so, but I doubt it.

Incredible: FAIL. Back to to the drawing board.

lol.

i appreciate your willingness to share info you have received. but, please, don't get us all excited by calling this "insider info".

Im actually thinking of Sprint. $69.99 all you can text or call to any mobile providers and unlimited data? That plus the supersonic sounds awfully enticing to me...are they tricky with their "calls and texts TO a mobile" is receiving texts and calls form other providers not unlimited? I live in b-lo so not SF or NYC where most dropping seems to take place..

I have sprint, i love there prices hate there coverage. I am leaving sprint when the incredible/nexus one comes out. I live in South Dakota and coverage isnt that great. Yes they have unlimited roam available but from talking to a sprint rep they are not looking at expanding into rual areas and when wimax comes out they will have worse indoor coverage and need more towers so i can see there coverage going further down the drain. I think if you have good coverage and everywhere you tend to go has good coverage i say go for it. if you have so so coverage dont do it

Photos from last week that our hard working detectives(on this forum) found, phandroid posted it and all the others major tech sites after... I was like yes new photos only to see photos i saw last week

Sorry about that, I did not even realize that was the title of the link or I would have noted that they are pics that we all have seen before.

I definitely have my doubts on the site since they are quoting us, but I was just interested if anyone else pondered over if the Incredible could be delayed for any number of reasons.

sorry to seem as if I was exaggerating. this source told things before they became public before, so I consider it, insider.

Hmmm that sucks. So no new HTC phone for Verizon except the N1.....Why don't they just slap a CDMA radio in a Desire and stop the charade! If it's being redesigned, does that mean it's dead altogether. Or will they have something by May comparable to the Desire?

in fact: based upon the info I was given, I may just settle on the DROID.

Here's an android website. It says its for apps but there are a list of android sites. Thought it was something to maybe scope around. But they all prob are getting thier info from us lol

That's what I said back to this person. I said, "ty for the info...even if it was bad news." You see: this person gave me good news when it was true.

It'd be great if you gave me something more to go on than this!

Is the Incredible dead?

How long will a re-design take?

Are you certain that they just aren't making changes?

what are you trying to say with the incredible fail? are you saying the one we seen has been scrapped according to your "inside source" or you saying in your opinion it is a fail and your just going to go with a nexus one?

Incredible: FAIL. Back to to the drawing board.

Let me see if I'm understanding this. Your "inside source" is saying the Incredible didn't make it through testing and will not be released on Verizon? Is that what you're telling us? I think we're a little late in the game for that.

I don't this person well enough to put this person on cross examination!

*****RAGE BUILDING******** This would be a situation where I would seriously think about dropping Verizon! This dude better explain himself.......I'm about to go nuts!

I highly doubt it got scrapped all-together, but if Steven's source is reliable, then a possible redesign may seem credible (maybe something more Desire-esqe?)

No. Here's the actual quote:

"Regarding the other device you mentioned [Incredible], I can't share anything on that device. There are too many variables associated with our selling devices inclusive of their passing our testing process for me to share anything about a device that we aren't currently selling. There are many devices that we plan to sell that don't pass our testing and we choose not to sell them."

That's exactly what I was inferring from the given data.

Either I'm really stupid, or that's pretty vague.

For them not to put something up against the Desire on AT&T would be, for lack of a better term, business suicide. Imagine someone who wants to jump into the smartphone world - aka your average consumer. They see VZW with an N1 that they're (possibly) not selling in stores versus AT&T who has the crowds gawking for the past 3 years over the iPhone, and now the Desire. And now enter T-mobile who is jumping in the high tier smartphone realm. For that average joe and his teenage daughter who have heard all the hype about smartphones from this person and that person, and who probably care for appearance more than actual specs, VZW does not look very appealing.

 I can just hear the customer service rep tell me that since it's an unreleased phone and Verizon never confirmed it; it is my fault for waiting -- oh and by the way - want a droid?!!?

It was much higher than a customer rep.

no i dont think so. he just said "alot of phones" sometimes have trouble passing thru VZW testing, not the Incredible in particular.
