Me: so man, totally random, but have you heard any news about a new htc phone called the incredible? or even the nexus one? i'm due for an upgrade soon and figured i'd give you some business

Him: i've heard of them both but they haven't told us any firm release dates. but i really think that the nexus one will hit sooner, possibly sometime this coming month [april]. we started hearing lots of stuff about the incredible over a month ago and then everything died down. the latest i heard is that they might be trying to re-work it with lte and that is why it's fallen off the radar on the retail end. apparently with all the new infrastructure they're working on they want a nice flagship phone to compete with that new sprint one and felt that the best representation was what they had going already with the incredible.

Me: oh shit wow, so maybe some big changes coming?

Him: yeah, their main goal is to push skype video by the end of the year. right now it's just calls, but what they're really going for is 4g video conferencing. i mean, this part is all just rumors and speculation, but even if this crap doesn't pan out, i don't see the incredible coming out in it's current form until at least may. i usually get training for phones about 2-4 weeks before a phone is released. thats why i really think the n1 will be out way sooner since we had that shit goin on today for it.

 No, I don't think so.

Who here believes that HTC is going to scrap the ADR6300, in as much as we understand it to exist per the Evergreen specs sub-forum, and then fundamentally rework its innards to incorporate?:
  • an LTE-capable radio
  • a front-facing camera
  • an HDMI port

Uh, no.

I'm not doubtful of the earnestness of BreakTheStatic's statement, but I do not believe VZW and/or HTC would scrap the current iteration of the ADR6300 ...even in light of the release of the Sprint/HTC Evo 4G.

Here's a question...while we're all sitting around gnashing on our own flesh....and I realize I could get rolled for this....but here it goes...deep breath. For those of you that are out of contract....would it be the end of the world to use Sprint for awhile if Verizon doesn't come through with a cool phone before the EVO hits? That's my current plan. I figure...what the heck...already on Sprint...in a 4G area...and the phone and WiMax may really rock. And...like I posted before...Sprints 3G is supposed to be pretty darned good...and in the fine print they actually contract with Verizon (or so I read in an article) to have 3G coverage via Verizon in non Sprint areas? I realize there are big fans of Verizon here...and I believe that is well deserved on their part...but Sprint is trying to keep customers...and people in WiMax areas should be a little bit hesitant to just walk by without considering the EVO...yes? And once again...I know I'm gonna get it for this...but I've been waiting like the rest of you...and just wonder if others feel the way I do. Would this not be a great plan? Like Kyle said...then after a year or two you could re-evaluate Verizon/Sprint and their phones and service. Okay...bring it! :p

Good question. Here's my answer. I pay about 250/mo. for a family plan. I'd have switch not one but four phones and buy four new phones. I'd rather not.

There were rumors about 90 pages back about a leak saying the INC had a 4.3" screen... maybe this is the latest truth?
No it's a 3.7" screen NKT has said that and it doesn't look as wide as the EVO and HD2 which both have 4.3" screens.

There will be a 4.3" screen phone coming to VWZ but it probably won't be til the late spring or sometime in the summer.

So basically these are the dates we should mark on our calendars for possible info:

March 27th
March 31st
April 1st
April 2nd
April 17th
Early May
Mid May
2012..... :p

Your friend knows very little about how phones work if he thinks they are "reworking" it for LTE. LTE is going to require a much larger battery (source: college LTE labs) & re-certification through the FCC. The design would have to change and thus also change the code name making it an entirely different phone. Verizon isn't stupid enough to push LTE until they get the battery tech to support it.

He obviously isn't an EE, hence why he works in a retail store. I was just reporting on what he heard from his reps and regional managers. All he said was that they liked the look n feel of the Incredible and wanted their first 4g phone to exhibit similar properties. no need to be an ass. i just got a weird feeling from him cause he seemed fairly confident that the incredible will not be out in the timeframe that we've all been tossing around here. the 4g/lte stuff like i said was just rumors. but when it came down to release dates he was pretty adamant about the N1 being available well before the incredible. take it for what it's worth.

The phone won't have LTE, Verizon doesn't even have LTE in but a few markets right now I believe with 25-30 by the end of year. First we'll see LTE aircards, USB sticks before we'll see them in phones which won't be until early 2011 at the earliest it seems.

So when MM said he probably would post what he found out around 9-10pm, I assume he meant mountain time? Stupid time zones, still 2-3hrs to go.

It also makes very little sense to make an LTE phone now when they are still a good year away from being ready to support LTE phones. Sounds more likely the manager was just throwing around the LTE rumor as more of a 'Sprint announced a 4G phone so we gotta have one too'. It just doesn't make sense to create a LTE phone now because by the time the LTE network is available for it the phone will be obsolete.

What i really want to find is a site or search engine that can search EXIF data of images.

Relate the search to ADR6300 and it should pick up a lot.

But, I can't find any EXIF searches.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I am getting psyched for CTIA! The announcement of the Incredible is going to light that place up. I wonder if VZW will announce it the first day to really kick things off or if they'll try to build a little suspense and hold off until day 2 or three. Whatever, I have been waiting 10 months, I can wait another day or two for the Mac Daddy of phones!

He's not just some random manager, he is one of my best friends. Grew up together and we've been playing in a band together for the past 10 years. He wouldn't just BS for hype or a sale or anything like that. He genuinely was telling me what he thought as a friend, not a customer or even a *spy* from a forum. I didn't even tell him I was snooping around. I went in just asking what was up.

Is this sarcastic?
