***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

Call me crazy, because I'll be the first to bash the claim I'm about to make.

Is it possible the HTC had been working on the incredible and a CDMA Nexus One?

Then Verizon convinced HTC to make the Incredible Verizon's version of the N1. Then the CDMA N1's are already made, so they get dropped onto Sprint.

I mean. honestly, has anyone actually SEEN a CDMA N1? And How many people have spotted the Incredible in some way shape or form???

This is just random theory.... so don't bash, just comment, becuas eit kinda seemed logical to me.

________________________________________________________________

Don't retort, just report!

Honestly i have been thinking the same thing.
BUT... 1)Back BACK in the day before anyone heard of Nexus One, the phone was actually being thrown around by the name of Passion and or dragon. and it was a CDMA device that was supposed to be released for Verizon. This info was given by a tipster who HAD the then "Passion/Dragon" and took photos with it.

And 2) there are a total of 4 total listings for the nexus one, at the FCC:
ending with... PB99100, PB99110, PB99200 and PB99300

i BELIEVE *someone correct me if i am wrong* 100=T-Mobile 110= At&t and 200 and 300 for Verizon and Sprint

The HTC Incredible is believed to be the PB31200

Therefore, as much as it might seem like MAYBE the "Surprise" and the delay in the Verizon nexus one are because they are the same phone it is not true. UNLESS the PB993120 is a COMPLETELY different phone that absolutely NO ONE in this world knows a shit about which i highly doubt.

Hope the information was helpful! :)

OH i almost forgot, i read somewhere once that in the FCC filings, the PB99110 was 1mm shorter than the PB99100, this makes no sense in my head, can someone confirm as to why that is? Does anyone have a Nexus One for At&t?

So i have been bored, pretty much just screwing around with our Incredible Resources. Maybe the following is useless, maybe not.

Im not HTML expert so bare with me, but i examined the
https://infodoc.verizonwireless.com/Infomanager/Areas/Equipment/159211.htm
we came up with.

First off, interestingly enough, it was last updated april 1st. Im going to start repeatedly checking the update marker on the page to see exactly when it was last updated, and to see what kind of progress we are making.

I pulled up the source code of another piece of VZW equipment, and the source code of the Incredible (all from that site)

I noticed different code variations in which the image display on the Incredible was written to specifically exclude certain source images. The Other piece of equipment i looked at had no such exclusions (all of its image codes were set to visible display) (oh, the thing i was comparing the Incredible page code with was the Gateway laptop at I.D. 159008)

Anyway, i pulled up the source code for the Incredible, copied and pasted into word, and started Editing.

Once finished, after having set the display code to "Visible" for all the page images, i went to a HTML test page and loaded up the code. Low and behold, there where 5 seperate images which where hidden. NOTICE: I Did Not See these Images. By trying out the HTML code on a random test page, i was able to see yes 5 seperate image areas, but as i couldnt host the code on the VZW Infodoc server, i couldnt actually access them. In reality, what i was able to see was 5 link host areas where images belonged, but were not actually there. (They would have been had i access to the Infodoc Server for VZW, as i could have then hosted the code there)

Anyway, this may not interest most of you, but for those of you who at least enjoy the fact that verizon does indeed have specific captured images of the Htc Incredible well.... there ya go.

I know it's my first post on the list but I'll just say this...

When I heard about the droid, I was so damned excited but it just didn't feel right in my hands and I figured I'd wait until after the new year because surely the android compatibles would be flooding the market. Then February hit and I started looking around and I got wind of the Incredible. Ever since, every person I know with a verizon account has gotten a droid and I almost feel good holding out - knowing that once the Incredible does come out, they'll be stuck with their clunky devices unwilling/able to upgrade again so soon.

On the other hand - and not to jinx anyone else, but - it would be just my luck to finally get my hands on the Incredible only to find instantly that it's a device I didn't like for whatever reason...

This is a bit OT but tooooo funny:

The quote below is a reply from a post on Gizmodo about the Jobster showing up during the Palo Alto iPad launch:

Steve Jobs Makes a Stealth Appearance at the Palo Alto Apple Store - apple ipad - Gizmodo

His showing up was real, but the reply from the following person had me rollin'

I was there- I SAW THIS!!!!! I SAW HIM GET THERE!!!

And it wasn't just him- he rolled up with Eric Shmidt too! They pulled up to the sidewalk in Steve's SL and they were like, "What's up?" Some people waved, some girls started to walk over from the line to the curb.

Steve was like, "I'm parking this shit." Eric was like, "Dude- slow your role- chicks are coming over!" Some girls were walking over to the car. But Steve was kind of agitated looking, and he saw the security guy keeping the line straight. So he whipped his car in to a handicapped space like 30 ft away.

They got out, and walked up to the line. Eric was talking to everyone, like "How's everyone doing?" and he was really smiling. Steve was looking around within hands in his pocket, and all these people were asking him questions. He was like "What's up What's up- yeah what's up," as he ignored everyone and walked up the line away from Eric, who was standing there as some girls and some dude with an apple t-shirt started talking to him.

Honestly, they both smelled like weed. Everyone started to notice and some people got quiet. Some kids in the line right next to where Steve was standing were like, "Whoa dude," and they made some subtle gestures like they were smoking something.

Steve freaked out a bit. He said "What- what's up?" about 50 times, trying to relax and be cool.

Meanwhile Eric is just standing there, with about 8 girls around him. He starts giggling, and a girl asks him what he is doing today. He says,"I don't know. I'm going to work on some search engines or something..." and starts cracking up, and walks over behind a telephone booth. By this time, everyone knows they're stoned.

Eric is now standing behind a phone booth, but he is plainly visible to everyone- and it's about 8:45 am! I think he thought he was hiding or something, and he leans around the phone booth and says so the kids closest to him that are staring at him- "Yo- I'm gonna hack that thing by 12 today- I'm gonna put XP on that bitch- Steve's gonna flip!" I assume he was talking about the iPad.

Then- I guess Steve got tired of saying "What's up?" to those kids, and he's pretending to read some magazine in a rack on the sidewalk. Somebody from about 20 ft behind me yells, "Steve- it's 8:45 in the morning! Wake and Bake?"

Steve drops the mag, grins, and yells, "It's 420 somewhere bro." Everyone laughs, and he looks at the security guard- who is grinning and hasn't even remotely bothered Steve, and says, referring to the guard: "Yo- somebody- somebody, like buy this dude an iPad. He looks like mad or something. Like bro- chill out." The guard looked a little uncomfortable.

Then, just like that- Eric walks over to Steve, and says something I couldn't hear, and Steve says, "Ok so thanks for coming and I hope you enjoy the pad and I hope you use it and I hope you get to use it and I hope you like it and thanks for coming out and thanks for being here. So like, thanks for supporting Apple and thanks for being here. And thanks for coming."

And with that, they walked over to the car, got in, started it up, and started playing Lady Gaga for about 30 seconds. It looked like they were arguing, and then they turned up AC/DC really loud, and drove away.
(BTW - I hope everyone realizes this is just the person who replied's made up story)

Erm you shouldn't need to host it on the VZW server to see the images. Just make the URLs of the images absolute (put the http://wwwblaahblah in front) rather than relative (how you have it now).

I think you're mistaken. I did the same thing and saw five broken images as well, however I realized something as I looked at the hosted page and the local page, the navigation bar was no longer there on the local page because all the images are hosted on the server.

The broken images that you see are the five buttons on top for navigation... that is, if we're seeing the same thing.

A while back we were talking about the capabilities of the Droid processor vs the Incredible's. I think Apple's A4 SoC: Faster than Snapdragon? - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News does a good job comparing the 1GHz Snapdragon in the Nexus One (very similar/same to Incredible) to the 600MHz Cortex ARM A8 in the iPhone 3GS. The 3GS processor is the same architecture, close to the clockspeed and had a dedicated GPU just like the Droid. So I think we can reasonably expect, using these results, for the Incredible to be faster than the Droid/current gen iPhone.

In addition to the faster CPU, with more ram under the hood, I think it'll be easy to see the speed difference in any side by side comparison of the two.

Or that while everyone was obsessing about the Incredible and the N1 they were secretly making a device that will blow them both away and will be released 31 days after you get your Incredible... and I used to make so much fun of those people obsessed with the Iphone.

As usual the last one left on the forum. Bored here at work.

Would be interesting if there were actually other separate pictures thatt we could find in that code.

anyone know where vzw's wharehouses are? Maybe one of us can go there and tip a guy to let us see the phone. I'd do it if there was one with in 50 miles or so

I for some reason don't think there will be a commercial. I know this is supposed to be a high profile phone, but other such named phones don't always get publicity before release.

Maybe after the release once they see the handset take off in sales.

I can see the evo getting a commercial considering its the first 4g phone.

Commercials take time and I would like to think we don't have that time because it will be released soon :)

someone posted before that they know someone in marketing and that the Incredible commercial had begun filming about 7-10 days ago. Something like that.

So do you all think Verizon will celebrate its ten-year anniversary with tv commercials and phone releases this week? I can see both sides. Throw a party and tout its success vs. 10 years isn't super old - does that imply weakness? Would you want to draw attention to it??

Weakness??? 10 years isn't very old. But Verizon is the product of a name change after the merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE in 2000. The two companies changed their name to Verizon. GTE can be traced back to 1918. That makes Verizon at least 92 years old.

wikipedia/GTE

Weakness? Look at it this way. In only ten years they have become the largest in the US with arguably the best service and network. If anything your "10 years isn't super old" argument should imply their strength by them taking over the industry in only 10 years.

Could you inform me where these five images are that they're hiding? I looked at the source code and didn't see any hidden images. The five images I saw were actually the five tabs at the top of the screen.
