After my voyager cracked and now I am using my old Razr I need a incredible phone :D But anyways my parents have a family plan and they are eligible for early upgrade so we are going to preorder the phone most likely cause you dont have to do that rebate stuff. So they are giving me the phone cause they don't need one and the question is when i preorder it does anyone know if you have to renew the contract right there or can you just get the phone and pay the 199 on the credit card and bring it to the vzw store to get it activated. Not really sure I never brought a phone online before thanks a lot.

Not sure about exactly when the contract extends but I'm guessing it's when you activate the phone. I was nervous too the first time I bought online from VZW but really, it couldn't be easier. You don't have to go into the store at all. I don't remember the exact procedure but I think you basically dial *228 option 1 and it programs the phone OTA. There may be a few additional steps but it's simple. You can always call customer service if you want them to walk through it with you but literally, you should be able to have it all activated within a very short time of getting it. Again, no store trips necessary. :)


OK, here's the activation url: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/activate Looks like you need the new phone, the ESN/MEID, the order number (of the online order you placed), last 4 digits of the social security number on the account. Enter the info, then do the OTA programming, and you should be good to go. :)

Yeah but my mom is the main line and she isn't using the phone on her number she has her own phone. I am going to take the incredible and trash mine so I probably have to go to the store to get the serial numbers reversed so we will have the same numbers we have now.

Well it is the latter, thing is, she didn't have to convince me, I had to convince her, she was due for an upgrade, but didn't know if she wanted to give up her Env2, she said that she didn't need all that in a phone, I told her that was where most phones are going and she should go ahead and update, so she got the Droid Eris and she loves it. But daughters know how to get what they want from Dad.

On a side note, she could do the motivation speech for you too. LOL

Yeah i've called like 5 stores, they're all closing out here in san diego and one said they couldn't tell me...odd. I'll have to try tomorrow afternoon. if so, i'm definitely gonna be freezing my @ss off sunday morning when bestbuy opens :)

yea, my wife also has an eris, got it the day it came out! LOL Also, I've been with Verizon for 14 years, and when we got married I added my wife to my plan, long story short, somehow her number ended up being the primary and mine is an add a line, so she gets to update phones twice as often as I can.

Eris has lcd and 550mhz processor does not underclock (to my knowledge). Incredible had amoled screen and processor is around 200mhz at idle and gets faster only when needed. Not apples to apples, though an extended battery still might not be a bad idea.

FWIW - I really like the back...it's distinct. Not as industrial as the droid but manlier than the Eris or iPhone... Like the red accents too. Nice.
 
I tried to download the PDF for the user manual, and the link was dead. Can anyone help me out with getting the manual. Thanks in advance

The Inc. won't be "BLOATED" some people just have to find SOMETHING to bitch about. If you don't like the app or widget simply remove it from your home screens. If you don't use it, it won't be bloating anything.

So far, I only see one thing BLOATED around here.........

Yeah I had to do that when I transferred everything from my voyager to my razr but it is difficult to explain. My mom has her own phone and I cant upgrade till like july so they can get a early upgrade cause she is a primary so I was going to take the upgrade she gets so its like her getting it but then she would have no number if i do that cause it will be under her number. So how would they switch that it might be the same way there. Unless when I get the phone I just put in my number and do it on that website and see if it will work which it should. But thanks a lot anyways you guys are awesome. I never owned a smartphone before and I am very excited.

Just wait until you get the phone. Get the official link, and then you will be able to read the final version. The one posted here is just a draft.
