**** OFFICIAL **** ICS COMING SOON thread... Post all questions and info here!!!!

ICS finished download with Wifi off and then it said "the update could not be properly validated. Please try again. Suggestions? I tried the download again with WiFi turned on and bluetooth off and still recieved the same message again. HELP??!! (please)

I got the same thing on the first pass. I am going to try again now. I guess a factory reset would work, but doesn't that wipe all custom settings and the like? That is a ton of work to get it back to the way I want it... lol. My fingers are crossed this time.

I pulled it, THEN thought to install rootkeeper. It blocked SU permissions for rootkeeper without even being installed. I decided to try and install anyways, and its installing. . Thought for sure it would fail since her phone is rooted, but they figured it how to block SU. So now i will need to figure out how to root again. Think i got it covered tho.

UPDATE: stranger still, while rootkeeper is blocked, other root functions were preserved. ROM Toolbox can still access SU permissions. Rootkeeper is automatically denied, however.

Also, there used to be an option in Contacts where you could limit contacts displayed by only those with phone numbers. Does anyone know where that option is? I can't find it in "People"... the replacement for Contacts in ICS.
I have been going crazy trying to figure this out also. The only 2 options in display settings is sort list by first name and view contact names as first name first or last name first.

There has got to be an option for this hiding somewhere...

Got the update this morning, d/l went slow as expected. The update took, even though I was rooted. Root keeper only gave partial root, so I used mattigroff's RAZR utility (1.7) to root, all is back to normal again.
Interface is smoother than the leak, everything works so far and there are no issues to report yet on my device.

Why hasn't ICS included a 'restart' option as part of the shutdown list? I just don't get that for the life of me....

I have been in Haiti for 10 days and was checking about ICS today.... and found out it should be here today....

But all I get is a greyed out "system updates".... wifi on or off does not make a difference.... I have also restarted twice.... We also live in an extended network (non-verizon towers), I heard that this does not matter.... ???

Bring up dialer, hit the search button.... bottom right "magnifying glass" that you never use :)

edit: it's not perfect, lots of people have discussed it, but hey.... it'll get you into your contacts.

Yah, there's been some weird reports to actually get the update to work. One is like a bootloader, hope everyone can get it installed easily, but not always the case.

updated last night. did a reboot this morning fershitzngiggles,
i dont like the path for getting to contacts.
is there a way to edit the shortcuts from the homescreen? to use Go SMS instead of the stock messaging app?
my numberpad keyboard is even more laggy since update making typing anything a daunting task, pretty much forced me to start using swype.
4g data connection is still spotty in the southern los angeles area.

about the only 2 good things i can find are:
1- launcher pro does actually work unlike early reports that it didnt.
2- screenshots.

i am really not impressed.

ICS so far is a nightmare! I backed up root, unloaded it, dl the update which went fine. During install it stopped at 'starting apps' and I let it sit for a hour and it was still frozen, so I hard rebooted and it started up fine. Looks like all the apps are there. But it runs so hot it trips the thermal circuit and I can't get it charged unless I turn it off! And it's burning through the battery when it IS charged so incredibly fast I can't keep it going. I mean it drains in a couple hours! So I've been painstakingly going through every app, seeing if it's that. I also checked every setting I can find to see if something isn't set right. The screen is set to minimal. I may end up having to go back to GB or something because this thing is presently unusable, totally!
