Official "New Android Market" Discussion thread!

I don't think it's much of an improvement, but it's ok.

But I'm wondering about this new service that's running:

Market
Process: com.android.vending
Alarm Service

I never saw this before I got the new market. Should this be running all the time? What does it do?

I miss the update all button that would always POP up no matter how many apps you needed to update. Also, the best paid, best free, and the just in tabs are weird now. Those tads are a curved line now, and him having trouble trying to hit them.

Don't like it. 2 FC's and Rom Manager and Titanium Backup keep updating every day as though the previous one didnt "stick".
 
the my apps(all the stuff you have downloaded) isnt showing up on mine... keeps having network issues. anyone else having this?

Even if you could, I would think it being a google service(?) that as soon as your phone connected to market it would update.
If rooted maybe possible to "turn off " market , sideload .apk's dunno, I'll just live with it til fixed, google forums full of gripes about it, so they know of probs.
 
I only got mine yesterday. I like the new look, but there is a lot of wasted space with the design at the top half. I like the combined information on the app pages. The consolidation of information is good. Will take getting used to. I've not seen iPhone's app layout for comparison...
 
I literally just got the updated market on my phone- Cincy. Hope this fixes my "install unsuccessful" issue.
 
Still can't update. Tried to uninstall Slice it and reinstall but that didn't work either. Does anyone have a solution?
 
I've went as far as uninstalling Rocket bunnies and reinstalling but it gives me an error message "unable to download -18".

Actually it says"unknown reason -18".

Check your SD card for any folders left behind by the apps. I had to uninstall updates to Flash 10.1 before I could install the latest version.
 
Update: it seems things are working better although I have to uninstall the app then reinstall it. I tried this earlier today and it didn't work. This rocket bunnies game is still giving me the "unknown reason -18". I really hope I don't have to do this with ever app when an update comes through but hey, if I only have to do it once, well I'll deal with it.
 
You can uninstall the upgrade through Manage applications > Market > Uninstall upgrade. Not sure if the upgrade will be pushed again. I thought it had something to do with my Video camera crashing, but it didn't. Update: It reinstalled the update within the time it took to write this reply.

I've done this. The newmarket gets pushed automatically and randomly throughout the day. I'll have to go through my sd card and delete old files, attempt to.... Funny thing is, some apps are fine on reinstalling but some are not.

Agreed! leave it to the developer to decide how long!
 
Well, its now baked into the latest version of MIUI. I guess I'm going to have to live with this one. I've got to imagine that if Google receives enough push back they may rethink the 15 minute time limit.
 
I just did a factory reset and all I can say is that for the first 10 mins I have it, the old market is amazing.

The new one is just form over function :rolleyes:
