My issue is with the horrible lack of communication.
Ok, so you want to do a "pre-order" that's not really a pre-order, whatever. At least tell people WTH is going on. Google hasn't said a word. It's like they're purposely trolling all the Nexus fans waiting to buy. I really don't understand their rationale in staying so hush-hush.
Even as someone who was able to pre-order one, I'm feeling nervous. Why? If there's such a limited stock, that means a) there might be production issues with the phone or b) there might be scarcity of components, or c) they just can't make many for some reason. No matter how you slice it, if there are quality control issues or RMAs need to happen, those of us who COULD order might potentially be stuck with a $700 paper weight if there are issues, because there's no chance Google will be able to replace them quickly if they sold out in < 1 minute.
There's no way around it, this launch was one of the biggest failures I've ever seen. Either Google is completely incompetent with sales or they did this on purpose to drum up a buzz for the phone. Either way, shame on you google.
It's worth a shot. I'm willing to bet the folks who see "add to cart" are people who are hitting the page near when someone else cancels their order. But with one cancellation and probably 10-100x that trying to refresh the page to purchase one, the vast majority miss it and can't order, with one lucky person getting in.
Do we have any confirmed orders past like 2pm EST yesterday?

I know it's a lost cause but I still check the play store periodically. Anyone else?
