My issue is with the horrible lack of communication.

Ok, so you want to do a "pre-order" that's not really a pre-order, whatever. At least tell people WTH is going on. Google hasn't said a word. It's like they're purposely trolling all the Nexus fans waiting to buy. I really don't understand their rationale in staying so hush-hush.

Even as someone who was able to pre-order one, I'm feeling nervous. Why? If there's such a limited stock, that means a) there might be production issues with the phone or b) there might be scarcity of components, or c) they just can't make many for some reason. No matter how you slice it, if there are quality control issues or RMAs need to happen, those of us who COULD order might potentially be stuck with a $700 paper weight if there are issues, because there's no chance Google will be able to replace them quickly if they sold out in < 1 minute.

There's no way around it, this launch was one of the biggest failures I've ever seen. Either Google is completely incompetent with sales or they did this on purpose to drum up a buzz for the phone. Either way, shame on you google.

I know it's a lost cause but I still check the play store periodically. Anyone else?

It's worth a shot. I'm willing to bet the folks who see "add to cart" are people who are hitting the page near when someone else cancels their order. But with one cancellation and probably 10-100x that trying to refresh the page to purchase one, the vast majority miss it and can't order, with one lucky person getting in.

Do we have any confirmed orders past like 2pm EST yesterday?

I would hold off on calling it the worst launch ever unless we reach February and people still can't order from Google Play. Until that point, the Nexus 4 will reign supreme in that aspect ;)

hahah yep, that's why I said "one of". I really hope this is nowhere near the debacle that was the Nexus 4 "launch".

Yeah, it's going to be a long 3 months if that happens to come to fruition. The one good thing I can say about the Nexus 4 launch is that T-Mobile did have units in store even while Google Play was sold out, though supply was obviously limited there and they were still Sim Unlocked. I'm curious to see if that will happen here as well.

With the GNex, only Verizon and eventually Sprint were on board (though they ruined the Nexus aspect of it). Though there was GSM model, it was never sold directly by AT&T and T-Mobile and didn't come to the play store until many months after it's global launch.

The Nexus 4 was only sold by T-Mobile, but was available on Google Play. Of course the supply issue regarding the Nexus 4 was a travesty and most people couldn't order one successfully until at least 3 months after it launched.

The Nexus 5 was only sold by Sprint and T-Mobile and didn't have the supply issues that the Nexus 4 had.

Thanks. I was too lazy to type that on a tablet.

Between Androidpolice and XDA so far roughly 500 in those surverys were able to order the NexSix. And roughly 6000 couldn't get one.

If people are being told they will receive their Nexus 6 on November 21st (and it seems like at least some are), I think that Verizon will make an announcement regarding pre-orders on Tuesday November 18th and begin pre-sale orders or maybe even start selling them on November 20th. MAYBE holding off to make the announcement on November 25th and the phone will begin sale on 28th, the day after Thanksgiving.

This will give them almost a month of sales of the Turbo under their belt. It will also give them a big phone (no pun intended) to sell the day after Thanksgiving.

Either way, I believe that Verizon will begin selling this phone at the end of November.

<snippage>

Never ascribe to malice that which can be attributed to incompetence.

To argue that this Nexus device is not vastly different from all previous model is asinine. Google has clearly changed their strategy.

Why are we even still talking about this? Its clear that Google didnt wanna 'preorder' this thing. Hell they probably didnt even start manufacturing the phone till this week Im willing to bet. This was just a test survey to see how much interest there is. Case closed, stop trying to fight your way through the minefield to order one b/c there was on intent to start sales. Ships a month after orders, come on guys lets be smart here....

For those who haven't ordered any device from google play, the devices will likely ship from Lexington, Kentucky based on previous experiences. So you can plan which shipping you buy based on that.

Why are we even still talking about this?

Because it's fun and passes time.

For new and existing Nexus owners...head over to the Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole. Been going strong for almost 3 years. Always accepting new supporting cast :)

We here in the Netherlands finally got our pre-order date confirmed by Motorola. November 18.
Prices are still unknown.

I've been reading about the great lengths people are going to in order to try and snag an opening when one comes up for sale: various computer programs and extensions that are supposed to ping them whenever one becomes available. And I've got to admit, that sitting here at work in front of the computer, with not much to do, I'm trying a couple of these out myself.

But once I get home, no, I don't think I'll bother. The phone will eventually become more widely available and I'm not in a desperate rush to get a new phone; the one I have still functions albeit with a little more lag and stutter than when it was new. But I'm not going to stress myself out over this any more, I think.

Google has been supremely incompetent when it came to this launch, whether by ignorance or willful malice, but eventually all will correct itself. And if they wait too long, by the time I'm able to get one there might be some reviews of the device, which may, or may not, only to serve to hurt them in the long run. ;)

I sure hope so. I don't know how much longer I can put up with this phone of mine that can't make calls from inside a building. :grrr: I just bought a new/used iphone for my son, I guess I could (gulp!) use his old iP4 till the nex6 gets release by BigRed... :coldsweats:

Nexus 6... What Is Google Thinking?

That's the question I ask myself. Otherwise reasonable, intelligent Google employees suddenly act like dolts. What is happening to cause them to hesitate, procrastinate , or hide instead of taking a pro active approach and communicate with their customers. Where's the organization?

Luckily I don't have a horse in this race so to speak, therefore I can comment calmly and neutrally. Oh sure I was planning to buy one, yet I'm flush with phones to enjoy and not in a desperate position as some are, through no fault of their own. When suddenly your phone fails or gets stolen or lost the urgency is immediate, if you use just one phone which is the norm.

Then there's the few words they did publish stating the pre-orders would start on the 29th, yet didn't have the courtesy to state a time. Instead of opening up at midnight EST which would be logical, or 8am or noon, they open mid morning PST.

Considering they've already pulled a stunt like this during the Nexus 4 release, one would think they would have been diligent to see it wasn't repeated.

Google proves once again that sometimes they're organized and sometimes they're not. How unprofessional.

I agree with this part... They are "Google" after all, and know what the interweb has been complaining about. A simple statement about "here's what happened" followed by "This is how we are planning to fix it" or "This is what our plan was - now wait for devices to be available with carriers" would be so much more productive!

Honestly, they don't have to do anything and they know it. They haven't promised anything that they haven't delivered. They said, "Pre-Orders Begin October 29th" and they did. The BEGAN October 29th. They didn't say "everyone that wants to can pre-order" they didn't even insinuate that everyone could pre-order.

They know that whenever they begin selling the Nexus 6 people will buy it. What's more, they don't need you to buy it if you already own an Android phone. They make their money mining out our data already. You are already paying them more than they will make when you buy a $700 Nexus. What is their hurry? iPhone buyers wanting a phablet now own an iPhone 6+. Android people that wanted one in September are still buying the Galaxy Tab. What is their hurry?

They know the longer we wait, the more excitement and jubilation that will come once they actually release it. Truly, Google isn't hurting for money. Their reputation isn't getting tarnished here. Especially to the point that it hurts their bottom line. Don't like the way they do business? Speak to Google in the only language that any corporation speaks. Stop buying their crap and using their free products. They will make an adjustment. Don't believe me? Ask McDonalds.

Google handled this whole thing poorly, and continues to with no response about yesterday. Really starting to feel this is not the Google that used to be. I personally think they've lost sight of what this was really supposed to be about, and quite frankly as someone who can throw $700+ on a phone fairly painlessly I'm not certain they even deserve my money anymore.

I feel your pain. But I have the money to buy outright and I'll buy as soon as they let me.

Everyone sassing Google,

Are you going to delete your Gmail account(s) ?
Stop using their search engine?
Stop using YouTube?
Stop using Google Drive? Docs? Maps?
Any old android devices?
Any Motorola products or any products that use Google patents?
Etc. Etc etc?

Lots of folks are bitter. We are all nerds and many are early adopters.

Lots of folks feel like they just got gut punched..

Kinda like walking into a club and seeing your boy or girlfriend cheating on you. So many are in rebound phase (I'm taking my money elsewhere, I'm boycotting Google and moto, I'm gonna buy an ifruit).

Knowing good and well all you'in's is still in love with Google and if she (he) came back, kissed you (here's some Google store credit for the fiasco) and said "I'm sorry, it's not what you saw with your eyes, I'm right here" (phone is avail for order not just pre order), all y'all (present company happily included + I'm still refreshing the page (I'm in denial mode :) ) would be at the order page now... :)

Stop hatin' on our pimp (Google) :car: :smokingsomb:
