Official Release Date Rumor Thread

The Holiday sounds snazzy and all, but I'll take the 4.3" OLED screen over LTE... My brother has the Atrix, and it's more than fast enough with HSPA+. Maybe I'm so blown away with the speeds because I'm still rockin' the EDGE B-)

This news is a bit more indirect to the Attain's release date, but its something...

I ran into a T-Mobile guy this morning and asked him when they were getting the SGS2. Instead of the deer in headlights look I got from many of the AT&T folks....he said they just started training and based off previous training schedules...he expected they would start selling the last week of September.

HOWEVER, the T-Mobile SGSII is different than all the others and may be why they are dropping so late. FYI....he said the T-Mobile version will have some new version of the Enyox processor and some different graphics processing chip that hasn't really been announced yet that improves benchmarks....probably why they had them under the case for the launch event.

went to costco the other day to get the thrill. Was 29.99 but is now 50, which is still a good deal, plus they give you some free accessories (screen protector, holster, car charger). Unfortunately they were out of stock. I was bummed at first, but then I became concerned that they might not get the S2. I know some of you got the Thrill from costco assuming they'd have the S2, but I don't think that's a safe assumption because I don't think they ever sold the Iphone4.

I actually had no idea the play was coming to att. I figured maybe sprint but had no idea.

I always said I would grab that phone if it had only been equiped with 4g

:(

I will add that I highly doubt you will see the attain hit that weekend. My source still stands by 10-2

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during that conversation that decided on the 10/2 date.

The T-Mobile guy I talked to this morning said they were launching last week of Sept. Considering the T-Mobile version will sport a more recent version of the Enyox Processor and have some new graphics chip...AND the 4.5" screen AND the design of the case the most different out of the bunch from the original SGSII.....I can understand why it's taken them a while to roll this out.

AT&T on the otherhand has nearly a direct port of international version (sans the hardware button) and according to your source, AT&T will likely be the last to get the phone.

Be it AT&T and/or Samsung...they completely botched the handling of this phone.

That's interesting... where is source of that?
T-mobile Hercules was rumored to be getting dual snapdragon like Sensation instead of Exynos and some analysts guessed that was the reason why they didn't allow hands-on on announcement day at NYC.

Ugh....so this is probably why we had a member here post a week or two back that he was told by his local AT&T rep that they were told to have extra staff on hand for the weekend of the 18th....and not because of the SGS2.

Bout ready to say screw the SGS2 and just finally get something, but once you waited this long for something, its difficult to just let go! lol.

Tmo's reported release date is still October 26th from what I understand....but that can all change. (My source first told me Att would get it first...but a few weeks later we found that Sprint took first spot in negotiations to release it on the 16th)

I should see the guy again this weekend...I will share any new info that I find

I am so tempted to buy a junk phone (I wonder if I could find a Nokia 5110 :D) on MetroPCS or other small carrier and flip the bird to Samsung & AT&T.

The only source I have is the guy I spoke to this morning. I don't know what his position is with T-Mobile. I was waiting in line for breakfast and looked over and saw his T-Mobile badge...so I asked him when they were getting the SGS2.

He said they just started training for it, and based on previous training / release schedules...he figures it will release the last week of September.

I asked him what differences the T-Mobile version would have and he said it was going to have a slightly different processor. I jumped in and said...the Tegra 2? He said no, it was Samsung's Enoyx...but it was different...like the size was smaller and that there was going to be some other GPU chip or something that would help improve its benchmark ratings....and he said the GPU part was something that wasn't even announced yet.

And then he went on about the 4.5" screen...which we already knew.

If you look at the Samsung SGS2 website, you'll notice that the BIG BULLET points they have for Sprint includes the 1.2 Ghz processor....you'll notice the BIG BULLET points they have for AT&T includes the 1.2 Ghz processor....and then you'll notice that the processor is missing for the T-Mobile.

Hope he knew what he was talking about and that's real. Looks like it didn't get out to any major medias yet. If true, it will be better flagship phone than HTC Amaze on t-mobile.

Not trying to be rude, but do you really think 2 cheap-o phones are gonna stop a high end phone from coming out? More like it will come out that day, people will come in for both phones, and they will be more inclined to try and upsell everyone.

Before I even heard about the GS2, I heard of the Arc, its still not even out. Back then my decision was for the Thrill or Arc(mainly cause its a sexy a$$ phone). I'm hoping AT&T is just gonna pull a fast one on us.

It is almost unheard of to release 3 high end phones on the same day, but not 3 phones for different markets. They don't need more staff for a low end android, and a playstation phone that's already been out for forever. And correct me if I'm wrong, but most of those stories in previous post stated big grins on the reps/managers faces when talking about the 18th. They are some ******ed(mentally challenged) reps if they are getting excited over a 50 dollar phone.

My AT&T rep lady didn't skip a beat. I said, "Do you know anything about the new Samsung phone coming out?" She said, "Two weeks." And she didn't want me to post it all over the internet.

well... luckily your only posting it a few places ;)

Let's say she read your posts and you'll go to her to buy the SG2. I think she'll be...

Well, if we don't hear back from puddin'..... I'm volunteering for the rescue squad. Might have to go raid walmart first to restock on some ammo, but i'm there!

Just got off the phone with my local AT&T and the rep said they had a conference call today and they were told that the sgs2 would be in store late September. Indent understand why NOBODY can get a single date!

Screw that, and screw the carriers and manufactors for hording information from the consumers that pay for their existance....especially considering we get locked in for 2 year contracts or stuck paying 2x what you would pay for a laptop with better performance.

Its not like we only have a few phones to choose from. This is a highly competitive market, and as consumers, we are owed accurate and timely information so that we can make informed decisions.
