Official Release Date Rumor Thread

4 different names for Galaxy S u.s. phones because each phone was unique. Same internals, I believe, but hardware definitely varied from carrier to carrier, most notably the Epic with the slideout keyboard.

So I'm doing some digging on the rumored Galaxy S II Plus and it looks like the only difference will be....

1.2 Dual Core A9 TO 1.4 Dual Core Nvidia Tegra 2
AMOLED capacitive screen TO WVGA Super Clear screen

This handset is rumored to be released the same day as the iPhone 5.

With that said.....is this upgrade worth holding out an additional month or two over the impending Galaxy II S release to AT&T?

Could you put source on that? CPU and display spec doesn't look like what I heard before about SII plus. I'm still skeptical that two similarly speced phones will be released in a few months.

There has been some speculation news that Samsung may refresh, bump up spec on SGSII for US to better fight iPhone5. The only major thing is clock speed bump to 1.4Ghz Exynos (not tegra) and including LTE radio. SII plus is probably just to distinguish it with regular international version of SGSII.
And there was news that Galaxy Z with a little lower spec (tegra2, super LCD, otherwise similar spec) will come with 3G radios. I guess you got mixed up on two info. Z might be coming to US along with SGSII. But there won't be two versions of US SGSII like regular one and plus one.

I just found a rumor in an article that says that the Attain may be released on July 23rd!

"Samsung Galaxy S2 latest rumors point that the smartphone version going to Verizon may have 4G LTE radios, while Sprint may get an additional physical keyboard packing version just like the Samsung Epic 4G. T-Mobile version is expected to be Samsung Hercules. Many rumours point that Galaxy S2 is expected to be released on July 21 and one of the comments read that when one customer contacted AT&T representative about the release of Galaxy S2, she was informed that the smartphone will launch on of July 23."

And here's the article Is Motorola's Latest Smartphone Photon 4G a Threat to Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation 4G? - International Business Times

Seems like Attain is getting way less attention than Function on this forum. I wonder why AT&T folks are not so intereted in SGSII?

Maybe it is because a lot of us are still recovering from the serious BURN we got from the Captivate. Thanks AT&T.

=/ Yeah probably. But, I also think that most AT&T users are sitting happily with their best-selling Infuse, oblivious to what is coming soon.

Maybe so. Fascinate on Verizon was not any better and it got the last Froyo update among four Galaxy S in US. But somehow Verizon folks are a lot more interested in this new beast from Samsung than any other carriers.

Coming from someone that's recently purchased the Infuse, I can likely see that exact scenario playing out. Partly because the phone is a great and doesn't leave one left wanting. MOSTLY due to the info war it seems these manufactures are playing with eachother.

Seriously though, those folks out of the "know", that have just purchased the Infuse, is about to left back in 2010's dust...along with their single core processors, 512MB RAM, and 5 MP cameras.

This is the Android Market's single biggest area of opprotunity in the smartphone industry.

Mucho Thankso Mr. Ed! Now if only we can get US releated news on US news sites so that the US public can make informed decisions. :)

Almost perfect timing! The Thrill should be out the last week of July (the 31st, if I'm correct), which means the Attain can come out any time during August and it will be within the 30 day return period of the Thrill so I can do my battle royal between the two. :)

any way of confirming if the phone will come out this weekend? I bought a Infuse June 27th (in a hurry w/no research - very unusual for me) when my blackberry Torch died and I had to have a phone immediately because i was going on vacation the next day. I have not been able to get my outlook email to work nor sync with calendar or contacts. VERY FRUSTRATED. So my 30 days are up July 26th.

I am pretty sure it won't be coming out before this weekend. We would have heard something by now if it was. You could go to eBay and by you an old Moto Razr to get you by until it comes out. They are only like $30-40.

Just shuffle your pickups replace the Infuse with say an Inspire then you have 30 more days to wait. I know people who literally switch phones before the 30 day grace period is up every month.

They do have a limit, and they will remind you of that each and every time you return a phone.

As for the lack of excitement, my concerns come with reading *some* posts that seem to indicate that the GPS still isn't up to snuff in the SGSII. Knowing that Samsung seems to have no problems issuing with known issues (see SGSI -> Captivate) makes me hesitant.

That being said...the only other option even remotely appealing to me at this point is the Atrix, now that the bootloader is finally unlocked.

Say it ain't so! I was really looking forward to a descent gps this time around!

My Captivate took a shower last week, and after I discovered it was going to take >$70 to get it repaired, I decided to buy an external battery charger (usb port fried) and try to limp along until the SGSII came out. I'd been ignoring all new phone hype with no intention of upgrading this year until this happened, but now I'm dying to get my hands on it! But please Sammy, please fix your gps this time around!
