Official Release Date Rumor Thread

Samsung you're killing me :(

My birthday is September 10th, how much of a chance do I have that I can get the GS2 by then? :cool:

It's AT&T and other US carriers killing us to be exact.:mad:
Nowhere outside US wireless carriers have this much power over manufacturers.
 
I am in the same boat as many...

but my return expires this sunday :(

so...new choices

keep the infuse and trade up later using the buy back
return the infuse and use the iphone
return and get an inspire hoping that I get a new 30 days and possibly return the inspire later for the sg2 or thrill

I doubt I will keep the infuse...I haven't been "wowed" by anything but the rear speaker and the screen.

the radios suck..the wifi, blutooth and gps work when they want to...and I really enjoyed the processor in the the htc phones much more than what is in the infuse....which brings me back to the sg2...will it really be any better

ugh..decisions decisions.
 
All indicates to a September 8 release date( sprint rumor and now this)
I really like this phone,but waiting for the Nexus Prime is looking like a very good idea right about now.
 
look at it like this... sprint is rumored to come out in sept, as is tmob's. now it looks like verizons version is launching in sept also. if we believe the samsung mobile ceo that leaves only us for an august launch date

the Verizon link was posted as just news. At this point any news is good news imo :p
 
Well, with everyone changing names, I'd bet ATT will jump on that same boat and will change it from "Attain" to "KickAss" or somethin like that lol.

It's always a roll of the dice to try and get away with a smart phone on a feature phone plan with AT&T. My understanding is that it's much harder to get away with it on phones that AT&T offers on contract even if you don't buy it from them because they're more likely to recognize the phone ID.

Yes. If it was once registered by AT&T, they are able to read the IMEI#, BUT the models that are already selling on Amazon, or maybe one from Bell, Canada cannot be identified by AT&T by IMEI. Do they have other means to catch us?
 
I called and asked my local att store about the attain and they laughed at me... :(

I was first inquiring about the thrill...which they said they know is coming out but have no idea of when.

edit..soooo..WOW

major kick myself moment...one of the guys I was hanging out with last night works for Samsung...had an sg2 but I assumed it was an infuse. I was less than 3 feet away and couold have played with it :(

trying to get him to meet up tomorrow haha

oh..and he is claiming late summer early fall, just as all of the reports we have seen


update 2...I will see him at a local get together tomorrow morning...that is the good news...the bad....no photos or video allowed :(

very...

I got a good explanation from the local best buy store. he said most of them don't keep p anymore. After multiple phones being delayed they have given up..they look through everything saturday night rather than study for weeks. He said they have done that with several phones and then they get delayed.

He had at least heard about the thrill...but absolutely nothing about the s2

At this point I am giving up unless the thrill comes out sunday. If it does I will at least look at trading my infuse for it but they made it clear at best buy that my 30 days is 30 days...even if I change phones that is it...no more returns once the 30 days is up and that is sunday :(

I will at least have the buy back option...and we have a line eligible for upgrade again in december.

I feel your pain. But this is nothing compared to Bionic. They have been waiting like seven months.

BTW, the Function forum got deleted today and we got fresh new restart on Verizon SGS2 in Stratosphere forum. So now Attain is the largest SGS2 forum here!
 
I've been waiting so long for this phone, I'm about to give up and just get the Atrix... There is always false hope given out towards the end of each month by all the websites, so I can definitely see a Fall release date for the GS2. I'm still using my Blackberry Curve from nearly 3 years ago, and the prehistoric speeds of this device are beginning to make me even more antsy for an Android phone. Dunno how much longer I can hold out... I think 4 months is long enough.

I messed with the atrix again last night ...just not feeling it... The infuse keeps up well and I just love the screen...though I have been overall satisfied with the infuse, the atrix had some strange behaviors compared to other android phones (mainly back button operation ..closing out apps completely rather than just going back a screen)

and my super sensitive eyes see the screen door effect some complain of. It definitely is not as bad on the atrix as it is on the photon...but it is there.


oh...and I missed my samsung friend by about 10 minutes this morning :(
 
That back button thing you're talking about would drive me damn nuts!! My browser started doing that, and I switched. I hated it!
 
I posted this in another thread earlier today before I came across this one...

I called Samsung today and asked them about the Attain (I'm an AT&T customer) and I was told that because Google/Samsung/AT&T are still discussing specs/terms that I shouldn't expect the phone until the 4th quarter sometime. So that puts it no earlier than October. Take it for what it's worth.
