So here we have two opposite thoughts/predictions. I like the former better.
 
haha, I just called AT&T and they said it is that it will be released on the same day as the iPhone 5 which is around September 7th. So, yeah... they are completely in the dark over there.

From what i read, Microsoft had been courting Moto for a while, and Google couldnt afford to let another competitor torpedo them on patents. Thats why they paid a 67% premium on the stock price.

I havent heard anything about the sell off of the hardware division, but they have a nice opprotunity right now to sure up the hardware side of the business considering Android holds about 10% more of the smartphone OS market than iOS.
 
What's the logic on Verizon getting the Nexus first for passing on the SGS2? "Hey, we won't give you money by selling your phone, and as part of that agreement you can let us sell the other phone first" ?

Some of us are stuck using a crappy device, holding out hope for this phone (July release. No, August release. No, late August announcement, possibly October release.)....I know I'm in the minority, but I'm losing damn money waiting for this phone.

If we could have known in June or July that this phone won't come out until October, we could have made other plans. Or, if we knew it would be an early Sept release, we'd have some sort of peace of mind and just try to be patient.

The uncertainty is what has everyone up in arms.

You guys probably know already, but if you really want the SG2 that badly, you can buy one from Newegg for like $650.
 
Mr. Ed, you said you confirmed that it was coming out on 8/28 by someone from an AT&T store. Can you go to the same store and see why the date has changed and it is no longer coming sunday? I don't understand how all these stores people mentioned got a confirmed 8/28 when all of a sudden that's not the case.

If we really are going to have to wait until October, I'm going to have to get a new phone in September since my contract ends then. I know you can pay a restocking fee and get a different phone after the 30 days when you get a new phone is up. So if I buy an Infuse later in September for $200 could I later pay the restocking fee and get the GS2 for nothing? (If its $200 with a new contract) or would I have to pay an additional $200 on top of the restocking fee?

No restocking fee at Best Buy

I returned my Infuse to wait out the SGS2 and paid $149 (in early August). I dropped by Best Buy this week and they are selling for $99 now. Yes, you will be able to cancel your contract and get your full refund...but it wont likely be an even exchange for the SGS2.

$20 for the Infuse at Costco with a 90 day return policy. Problem is, they aren't sure if they are getting the SGS2 whenever it comes out.

I'm on an AT&T family plan, I know they sell AT&T phones there but would I be able to my upgrade on my family plan at best buy? I have no idea how that works.

Aug 28th has been my conspiracy theory...I had three sources confirm it but at this point I think it was bum info. I am going by ATT later today after work (if they are still open)

The phone call I missed yesterday was some quick cash telemarketer :confused::confused:

Alas...as many have figured out ..I may be someone else too ;)

"Our" source that let "us" play with the phone did in face give "us" a release date of 9/2 ... In MY last visit with him ...this past Wed He claims it was always Oct 2nd.... Like I said..I am hoping he was confused this past Wed when he told me this...not earlier in the month when he told me 9/2. I know I was not ...umm...I mean nacho was not confused when told 9/2, because nacho posted LITERALLY while at the table getting the info.

At this point I am getting frustrated...I don't "need" a new phone...and by the time this thing comes out there will be other new devices, with better specs, right on it's tail. It's one thing when something new six months later releases but we have literally 3-4 devices coming out within 2-3 months of the SGS2 that have better specs, including LTE

i've been asking people that all day but all they can respond with is "but the rumors..." if i had to put money on it my guess would be the "similar device" the rep was talking about is the stratosphere that was on the roadmap for a sept 29 release

I suggest you ask magdelaine on prime forum or Mr. Ed. They seem to be convinced on it from some sources. I also saw rumors on verizon getting prime first on multiple medias on android, but they might know better.

looks to me like they're getting from p3droid who is a respected dev, and claims to have gotten a Nexus Prime kernel and he got a C&D letter from samsung but if my memory serves right people in AC forums were said that VZW was also getting an LTE GSII
 
sadly my guy at ATT says the release date was pushed back again (He is the one that confirmed the 28th for me last week)

He said at this point they have no idea. The thrill is going through the same thing. They were originally told mid to late July, then August, now Sept OR October on both phones

He says he won't tell me anything else until he has them in hand :(
