Official Release Date Rumor Thread

LOL ... and the guy I talked to last week said you could. In fact he was standing at the booth telling anyone who stopped by to just look at the displays that "the reason it's better to buy here was you are able to return it within 90day if something you like better comes out." His manager was right next to him. If I get something there I am going to record the conversation. :D

I really think it depends on the location. I am in Northern CA and my local Costco lets you return and exchange phones within the 90 day return window.. As far as I know this is general Costco policy, so if you are being told something different it may be a regional or locatiob specific policy. Go try asking at a different Costco if there is another one close.

As someone else up thread stated, what or how Costco as a third party retailer chooses to sell or accept returns is up to them. Not AT&T not Verizon or any other carrier. Costco makes its money selling the contract, either a renewal or a new contract, not the phone itself. So they can choose to swap phone. And most likely will rather than refund your money and have to CANCEL the contract.

That's my understanding on their return policy too. I know some of my friends, some member here actually exchanged theirs with different one. But as jinwons pointed out, a lot of folks here seem to be claiming that it's only for the same phone, quoting what they heard from costco. Is there any official info on it on the web?

I think this deserves a call to AT&T, actually, as ultimately it's up to them whether or not to honor a contract discount on an exchange.

No that's only costco thing. It has nothing to do with AT&T as someone said above. And you can exchange phones only once in 90 days, not multiple times.

ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with AT&T .... well, the CONTRACT part is all AT&T (TMO and SPRINT) but absolutely not the hardware discount. An independent retailer can give away every phone for free any time they want (if they want). They all follow their own policy just as AT&T does regarding returns & exchanges of actual devices. It's that hardware that usually brings in the subscribers and that 2yr contract is all AT&T cares about.

The 90days is COSTCO policy on TV's Computers, Major Electronics & Mobile and if they want to have their booths in Costco they have to follow that policy on any physical purchase. My guess is, the large amount of foot traffic they get is worth it.

I used to work for a company who sold a specific automotive product to Costco. You have to sign away your life saying you will take ANYTHING back (RTM's from Costco) that a customer returns for any reason in any condition at any time because that is Costco's policy.

I'm at Walmart and there is an AT&T rep. She says "two weeks." I ask, "the 18th?" She says she thinks its the 19th. But i'm not allowed to post this. ;)
Good intel gathering! You would think they would make it official for a release that is only 11 days away.

Perfect timing, all I can say is this may be the second failed announced release date. At this time I will only believe it when I see it. On the other hand phone arena has updated the Attain listing with new photos including the lack of a slide out qwerty display :).

Oh, she also thought the name would be SGS2 but admitted that she didn't really know for sure, things could change, etc.

I cant wait. These are the thoughts in my head
"This or the htc holiday? Maybe the waikiki? This or the htc holiday? Maybe the waikiki? This or the htc holiday? Maybe the waikiki? This or the htc holiday? Maybe the waikiki?"

If you wait a bit, you might buy the Holiday before the SG2.

I have a feeling that if the release date is set for the 18th (or 19th), they don't have time to change the name of the device. They need time to print all the boxes and stuff. Here's hoping that particular AT&T rep actually knew what she was talking about and wasn't just quoting some blog she read that may or may not have made that up.

There is no such thing as an AT&T rep at Walmart per se. Walmart employees sell the phones/plans. This was an AT&T rep who happened to be inside a Walmart speaking to the Walmart employees about upcoming phones, plan changes, etc.

I've been reading the posts for the past few weeks to keep up on release dates and opinions of the phone. I signed up today to add that a few days ago I had someone at Best Buy when I asked about the phone whisper to me to watch their web site for pre order. I have no idea if this is reliable info, but they did know about the phone.

Pre-order would be nice..... although I am leery of buying/pre-ordering the phone anywhere other than an AT&T store...... just in case they didn't come through. Best Buy was suppose to be selling and have stock of the iPhone 4 on release day and that fell through for many.

I did a search on Best Buy for the Galaxy S2. They are listing an unlocked European version for $799 and some cases. The cases are listed as "Silicone Gel Cover for Samsung Galaxy S2 Attain, Function and Within" which doesn't exactly make sense since they are different sizes. Also, the picture appears to be the Euro model.
Wireless Xcessories Group - Silicone Gel Cover for Samsung Galaxy S2 Attain, Function and Within - Black - SILGALAXYS2BK
That led me to the case manufacturer "Wireless Xcessories Group" where I also found cases listed specifically for the Attain but without pictures Wireless Xcessories Group - ATTAINCOVCL

However that same company lists a case for the Epic 4G that does have a picture.
