Official Release Date Rumor Thread

I guess you're not aware of the Sprint version which is $199. That leaves AT&T and T-MO for which pricing has not been announced but you can be certain it will be AT LEAST $199.

So who are all the carriers in North America selling variants for $99? You referring to that one tiny company in Alaska?

The small carrier in Alaska, Sprints model and I belive several carriers in Canada as well. I may be incorrect, and if I am please feel free to correct me.

I believe the Walmart deal is for new accounts only and that accounts renewing are for 149.99 -- Most of what I have seen have been new accounts get an additional $100 off while some you have to pay the full $199 or just $50 off for renewing.

If the Epic Touch doesn't seem to help my dropped call situation on Sprint or still have crappy service I will be switching to AT&T.

I think I will import the original SG2 though, like the looks of it better and no one still knows when this is going to be released.

I feel for everyone waiting. Yeah waiting sucks, but it is better when you at least no the date.

I noticed that Walmart and Sams have lower phone cost but the monthly plan is higher, or did I dream this. More than the difference in phone cost.

Not sure why but I keep finding myself annoyed that we still don't have solid info despite having an SGS2 in hand for over a week now lol. The release is irrelevant for me at this point, but i still wanna see it finally happen!

And thats really the rub. I've waited 6 months past my 2 year contract being up to purchase a phone that wouldn't be outdated in the first 6 months of ownership. At this point I'm pot committed....so waiting another week or so isn't really the big deal if I were dead set on this phone.

I get the earlier announcement was to jin up press....but your getting bad press at this point. Why not just announce when your ready to release.....or atleast give the expected release date when you announce the phone. Otherwise, your just leaving everyone to theorycraft their own reasons why we haven't seen this phone yet....which often times usually doesn't end up in a favorable discussion about the manufacture or carrier.

Maybe I'm ignorant of the cell manufacture process (actually, I'm sure I am)....but it just doesn't make sense to withold info until the week of launch out of fear that the competition will one-up. It has to take what.....3-4 months to feasably respond to intel on a competitor's product? You have to go through design, testing, and then manufacturing....IF you have the operational capability to start with.

So if its a 3-4 month turnaround time to make slight mods to a phone to one-up the competitor...why not just come out with the dang info 1-2 months before release?!?!

I am guessing he is referring to the Sprint version for $99 at Walmart. See attached picture. I hope it puts pressure on AT&T to not over price.

He was referring to AT&T when he said: " but I will be surprised if the ATT&T SG II is priced higher than $99.00."

It will be priced around $199 but that doesn't mean INDEPENDENT RESELLERS (Walmart, Letstalk, Amazon etc etc) won't be selling it cheaper. Let's Talk.com had the Sprint version for $80 for new subs ($119 for upgrades) over the weekend but Sprint isstill releasing it at $199 (before any rebates).

The CARRIER (Sprint) is not selling it cheaper, it's independent resellers who are. Same reason AT&T will not sell it under $199 bit independent resellers might.

They have the same pricing. Plan pricing is controlled by the main provider (AT&T etc). It is possible that some of these places just do not sell the lower plans (mainly because they get lesss commission).

9 months and counting out of contract for me. first i was set on the infuse when it showed up last december then in feb they showed the gs2 and have been waiting for that ever since. at this point by the time the gs2 comes out i'll be 4 months out of sync with the rest of the people on my family plan because they opted to stick with Infuses

Like I said it was pure conjecture. Though considering the length of time AT&T and Samsung has kept folks here waiting, I still wouldn't be surprised at a lower price than standard. Or even if it debuts with a $199.99 price tag, look at the LG Thrill and how quickly it has dropped in price. Even if it is new here in the USA it is still a 6 month old phone.

As for your point that Wal-Mart is the one selling the Sprint version for $99.99, to be honest I really don't think that matters. If there is a $100.00 price difference between what the carrier is selling the phone for and what 3rd party is selling the phone for, well people will vote with their wallets. I myself NEVER purchase from directly AT&T because that

Just saw my first Galaxy S2 commercial. Showed the AT&T logo at the bottom of the ad towards the end. Keeping my fingers crossed it's the 18th.

Mister Ed, I chalange you to compare plan priceing, (Radio Shack V At&t). Please let me know when you find out I am right. How do you think they are able to offer the phone at a lower price. This is a diry little secret, and people just don't check.

I've been seeing the 18th pop up more and more on various websites(not the gossip websites just trying to be top on google search) as I'm sure many of you have seen. I think(or hope rather) there was a release date leaked at the conference, and that they are not going off all the rumored dates

My only worry is that this is some ploy used by AT&T to make us wait another 2 weeks, only to find out we have to wait another 2 weeks...

It's gonna be sad when there are no more rumors to spread about this phone's release date.. but I guess I will see you guys (and gals) elsewhere

since i am a broke college kid, i was thinking about getting either the thrill or the gidim from amazon wireless. (fyi i am grandfathered in to at&t's unlimited plan that's actually unlimited) it looks like amazon only gives me options to change my plan, rather than keep exactly what i have and just get the phone (they didn't even have the same minute plan that i'm on)...guessing if i don't go through at&t, i'll lose my unlimited data, huh?

once you upgrade, everything's off the table no matter how or where u do it. your old contract no longer applies.

that's not quite true. go to best buy, they'll price match amazon (i think) tell them you want to keep your current plan.
