Official Swype on Incredible discussions

swype has typically killed any beta that is out there, including the one you have, whenever a new one releases. i'm not a programmer, so i'm not sure how they do that, but that's why everyone went nuts yesterday, all the "borrowed" beta versions died when the new beta was released. if you have been sent the official beta email, you should delete any other version you have and download the official one (if you can...the site has been sloooooowwww because everyone is trying to download). that way, even if they don't release a final verison in the market anytime soon, at least whenever the latest beta dies, you will be able to download the new one, as you are now part of the beta program. i don't think swype is trying to screw anyone in the official beta program. if, when they release the final version, they make it a paid app, it will be well worth it, and *everyone* will have to pay for it, most like. i don't see any downside in joining the official beta program. only up.
 
Since you guys are on rt now, I just installed but can't get it to work on the Incredible. The install directions say press and hold and then you will have the option to use swype but it just keeps giving me the option to paste. Can you help me out. I assume I would have to go into applications but I just can't figure it out.

alrighgty thank you...that's what i was thinking.

I did have the red/black swype which died yesterday. I then found a link someone posted and downloaded that(stock colors) and it's been working great. But i guess being part of the program and all that jazz would only have benefits being that SOMEHOW...no idea how...Swype is able to kill any running version of swype even when it is copied. I'm pretty impressed with thier ability to do that still.

Also, I suppose it's always a little better to do things the licensed/legal way.

have you activated swype in settings?

menu-->settings-->Language & keyboard...then check mark Swype

if you've done that try and clear your clipboard somehow...paste w/e it wants to paste then delete that and long click the input field
 
I didn't see Swype in there as I had thought I would. What I did do is go into astro file manager and attempt it there.... oh wait.... nope that didn't work, it looked like it was going to but nope. I am uninstalling and reinstalling. Let's give that a try. I'll get back to you. Hopefully it will be in the area you mentioned above this time. Downloading.......

i had a lot of problems yesterday getting my swype to install and work properly on the inc, so i sent a message to them and they responded super quick and helped me out. if you are still having problems, i would suggest you send them off an email and see if they can walk you through something. like i said, very quick response yesterday, and that's with all the craziness i'm sure they are going through right now. :o
 
Yup (1.56.30.7625)

is the latest BETA (unless its changed in the past few hours)

To if you have the APK
get a file manager ( astro for example )
navigate to file
select it (if asked choose open in program manager )
install it

ONCE its installed, you need to..

go to setting
select keyboard and language
you should see swype here
click the check mark for swype

your not done yet...

choose your favorite text input program ( chompsms :P )
open it
"long click" (about 3-4 sec) on a text entry box
you'll get a pop-up the says input method
click it
it should should the default and swype, choose swype

if you have problems try rebooting
 
The "installing swype" screen was on there for a good 15 min all for the next screen to say "registration of the license failed." UUGGGGH! Guess I'll try and contact them.
 
Spent some time with it this morning and watched the tips & tricks videos on the site. Absolutely in love with Swype. I'm getting faster all the time and all I want to do is find as many reasons as possible to type on my phone.
 
Beta is officially opened up for general sign up as of now.. run run run! I just installed it and it's working well! :)

Go to the link they provide on troubleshooting, tips and tricks, or whatever they called it (forget), but I had several problems but they were all addressed in that section. Originally, it didn't recognize my phone as a droid. I had mobile view unchecked in my browser, which was giving the error. I found all the answers I needed in their help section. Much quicker than flooding them with emails.

As mentioned, their site is being flooded with download requests. Took me 4 tries to get it downloaded, AND registered lol. 3 times it loaded fine, but timed out on the registration. 4th time was the charmer and it is now working on my Inc as before, minus my nice blue keys lol.

Actually. It did install and is working although having issues advancing to the next screen in tutorials. It did not register though. Don't know if that will be an issue or not but hey, it's on there and seems to be working although when I swype a word it doesn't recognize anything. Just remember I have never used this so it may be as simple as some additional tutorials. Just wish I could advance to the next tutorial screen.

Thank god I got mine last night. The site seems to be running slow with all the people trying to log in or register.
 
Are you still able to use it? I can't seem to input words. I swype a word but it won't record it. What the hell?
 
Installed it this morning. Took a while since I do not have wi-fi at work and 3G is not great to download a file of this size. I got through the install for it to crap out on the registration. Finally it worked.

Getting used to it. Works well. Only thing I do not like is there is no .com button on the keyboard when using the browser.
 
If anyone is having issues logging in from the installer, I'm pretty sure Swype is taking a BIG hit in bandwith with everyone downloading this app. They're website actually just crashed lol. Its been taking me a while to d/l

Ok,so sometimes my username and password work and now it keeps saying its invalid. WTF
 
I am now an official swype for android beta user. I have come clean and own an official beta. I feel better about myself now :) :)

I've had same problems. Was able to install - even though got a registration of the license failed message. can use the KB but no words are registered , just a beep. Have tried a couple times.
 
Swype is failing big time for me. It keeps saying "Swype installation failed, enter the username and password you registered at beta.swype.com" then the few times it actually worked i get a message saying "Package installation failed". No, I believe this is called, SWYPE FAIL

Edit: Ok, I just kept trying and trying and trying and it finally worked for me. I've had the new version I found online but I just feel better getting it from the devs. lol
