Official Swype on Incredible discussions

Got mine installed no problem. Forgot to turn on Mobile view in the default browser but after switching it and hitting refresh I was up and going.

So far I'm 50/50 on it. Its kinda cool but I tend to get more type-o's with it. I'll give it a couple weeks and see how it goes.

I dint think it will take you that long. I'm on my first full day using it and love it. Watching the tips and tricks videos on the website really helped me get better and faster. Can't imagine going back to the stock keyboard.

it has literally changed the way I write on my phone. I could NEVER go back to the stock keyboard after this! I hope the beta lasts forever and doesn't expire like the last version...

I got it downloaded and installed. I cannot get it to work on my Dinc. The words do not appear. Suggestions? I enabled swype as instructed.

Initially not too sure, hard seeing through a fat finger when navigating to the next keys, but pretty cool on long words after crazy swyping and the word comes up!

This happened to me after several attempts of installation. Was able to swype but nothing appeared. I don't think it installed correctly. I uninstalled and tried again until I got all the screenshots shown on the beta swype faq page.

Anyone getting a Parse Error when clicking on it from the download page? I keep getting that, and when I try to do from Astro, I keep getting "Directory Swype-Installer.apk could not be loaded." Any help would be appreciated.

I hate to quote myself, but I'm just checking to see if there is a fix for this. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

anyone else getting it to install but then when it registers i get an error message saying the license failed to register? So it is on my phone but I cant use it, this thing is the WORST ever at trying to install. Im gonna have to give up, four hours of it today is way more wasted time in my life than I should have spent?

I also got this message many times. I read their FAQs and uninstalled Swype and its installer. Then I rebooted the phone and used a task killer to stop everything. The FAQ said to close any many widgets on the desktop as possible, so I opened up the 'Clean Slate' scene. After all of this I downloaded it again and it worked fine.

I was able to register on laptop, get email on DINC, and download and install withen a couple of minutes with no problems. I say refresh and try again...I just did it 5 min ago and everything is a go!

Still having troubles I see. I'm sure you uninstalled any previous versions by now but have you also made sure you don't have a previous version of the Swype Installer still loaded at Settings > Applications > Manage Applications? Just a thought I failed to mention last time.

After a day of trying.... Finally installed correctly. Their servers must be swamped.

Every message, including the ones starting that I don't have the correct permissions on my phone were all related to that.

No trick to install. Just perseverance.

If anyone is still getting an error along the lines of "Registration of the License Failed" or "You do not have the necessary permissions to install swype," uninstall swype and swype installer, then go to your home screen press menu-scenes-clean slate, then restart, run a task killer and kill everything you can and try again. I read something about getting rid of all the widgets you could on the swype FAQs and that's what finally let it finish installing for me.

I had the same issue. It's easy to fix, just follow the instructions. I uninstalled both Swype and the installer, rebooted the phone, turned off EVERY SINGLE WIDGET, and then it worked fine.

After numerous attempts, I finally realized that when I click on the link, it was defaulting to Skyfire. I used the native browser and downloaded the installer again and worked without a hitch the first time around. Thanks for the assistance. I feel like an idiot now. :o

Not at all. Glad you got it.

I pretty much did the same (although I didn't turn off my widgets) and it worked for me.

Also, for those still having problems, use the stock internet browser. I had to use the it instead of Skyfire because it didn't recognize my phone properly with Skyfire.

Just curious what skin the beta version of Swype that everyone is downloading is using. My trial period ran out on Tuesday, but I was able to find another version on one of the developers forums. It is the one with red letters and Droid Does on the space bar. I think I'm going to stick with it until it quits working or there is a paid version.

I'm using that version also, I gave up on trying the "official" way. I might try this weekend once things settle down and thier servers stop being swamped 24/7 :P

Although, I'm starting to get used to the droid does theme :P

My only real concern is, I hope they don't get greedy when they finally release a "paid" version. It's a great app and I defiantly want to support them, but I hope they keep the price reasonable.
