Official Swype on Incredible discussions

It kept failing for registering for me, then the page wouldn't load. Finally it said I was successful in registering, but I haven't gotten an email.
 
Those of you saying you tried shapewriter while the beta was down and had trouble getting it to recognize your words. I can't fathom why. Shapewriter's recognition is ridiculously good. It helps me with words I don't even know how to spell off the top of my head. The other day I wanted to write "smorgasbord" so I just somewhat blindly slung my finger all over the keyboard being sure to get it in some general ballpark of how I thought it was spelled, and it got it right away.

Does Swype perhaps cater to more "common" text habits? Like I'm sure smorgasbord is a word rarely used by "typical" texters. But I type my texts the same as I do anything else, with mostly proper grammer, fairly large words, and no shorthand. Shapewriter seems to cater to that perfectly.

I'm not putting down Swype, I'm just wondering why you Swype users find Shapewriter nearly unusable.
 
i finally got it register, after about a hundred tries lol. the install takes a couple tries too.

i use shapewriter right now, but imma give swype a shot. mainly because the symbols i use are hidden are all over the damn place on shapewriter! its a pita
 
anyone else getting it to install but then when it registers i get an error message saying the license failed to register? So it is on my phone but I cant use it, this thing is the WORST ever at trying to install. Im gonna have to give up, four hours of it today is way more wasted time in my life than I should have spent?

I got that multiple times. I believe it is timing out before registering, so then you have to start over. Mine finally all worked and it is back on my phone functioning properly. Don't give up lol.
 
Registered and then asked them to re-send the download email and I still haven't got anything from them more than an hour later.

Kinda sucks because I jumped the gun and uninstalled the other version already anticipating this.

Hurry up, Swype!
 
I asked for my download link invite to resend like 5 times. Finally got it resent, installed and it's working great now. Checked my email and there are 3 more invite emails lol.
 
Make sure to uninstall both swype and installer/ reboot phone and kill all apps/ make sure you have view as mobile for internet/ go back to link and do all the steps again. It worked for me after about the 4/5th time. All is good!
 
I keep getting that I do not have the correct permissions to install swipe (yes I installed the old version, rebooted, stopped running services, etc.)
Anyone else get that? Any ideas?

Do you have allow unknown sources checked in your app permissions? That'll get you past that part atleast.
 
I noticed I finally got the email today. Was excited, until I downloaded it and was about to install it. As soon as I read that it can capture your typing and passwords etc it was a no go for me. I deleted the installer and did not bother installing it.

I will stick with the stock keyboard thanks.
 
hmmm.... I got the the email for their Beta download that had all the instructions. Went to the download link from my phone and the page gives me a message saying that I am not on an Android phone and I can't download.

Has anyone else seen this?

Yes did you read the FAQ?

Enable your web browser to use mobile view only and try again.

Yep. Both the installer and the app installs. It's failing with my permissions to register.

Anyone getting a Parse Error when clicking on it from the download page? I keep getting that, and when I try to do from Astro, I keep getting "Directory Swype-Installer.apk could not be loaded." Any help would be appreciated.
 
Got mine installed no problem. Forgot to turn on Mobile view in the default browser but after switching it and hitting refresh I was up and going.

So far I'm 50/50 on it. Its kinda cool but I tend to get more type-o's with it. I'll give it a couple weeks and see how it goes.
 
I just installed it and am having a problem I don't know if it has to do with swype. My screen won't timeout anymore and turn off. It just sits there and doesn't even dim. This didn't show up untill I installed this new beta. I had a unoffical version before and it didn't have the same problem.

Did you re-boot? sometimes that clears weird issues like that
