[Official] What Changes Have You Noticed After Updating to 2.2 (Froyo)?

A couple observations -

- The slide to answer call is smooth as butter.
- Ringers, notifications etc are louder
- Battery life is crazy good, seems to have doubled!
- Flash :)
- Gallery app is better
- You can click on the contacts picture now and it pops up a box to text, email call etc

Several expected others..

Well now....this is interesting....I have a button to push for answering....

Anyone else have a button to push for answering calls?

I thought I had this the other day as well, but I could swear I saw a new slider right after upgrading. So I just tested. If I am on the lock screen and get a call I have a slider to answer the call. If I am using my phone (not on the lock screen) I get an answer button.

After the update, my Handcent messages are way off on their time stamps. My received messages are like 7 hours behind the real time.

Anybody else have this issue?

I noticed this too, and I think I found a fix. Open Handcent, Settings/Recieve Message Settings/Set Time stamp offset/

Mine was set at -6 and messages were showing 5 hours earlier than received. (message received at 7am would show as received at 2am) I changed this setting to -1 and now timestamp is correct to my local time.

EDIT: Nevermind... it was correct for the first text received but reverted back to the wrong time after that.

Speaker sound is WAY LOUDER... I am sitting in my office and my wife just called the cell phone for the first time since I upgraded to 2.2. I almost flipped out of my chair!! Very nice since the sound sucked so bad on 2.1!

Froyo is nice. Does the dishes and the laundry too. Exchange contact pics still don't sync though. Somebody said there was no way to remove slide to unlock. Mine doesn't slide to unlock. Maybe because it was set that way before the update. With root we'd have to find the config file to change that option if it isn't linked in the menus anymore.

I may need to review this thread, but I'm noticing something is up with my Battery Manager and being able to view "usage statistics".
Error I get is "Sorry! The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. [force close]

If i could just get it to mow my grass that would be awesome!

We all get that. It's random in that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and no one has quite figured out what triggers it.

I don't like the new gallery. It seems like it loads way slower than the original. In fact I thought it was perfect prior to update. I do like the option to click on a contacts box to pull up quick shortcuts to any functions they would have, but this also makes it seem like the picture loads a lot slower when scrolling. I do like flash on internet but besides that nothing spectacular.

Yea I forgot, someone did an overclocking thread at another site. When we put Froyo on the Droid, he noticed Froyo handled sleep/standby better. Seeing how it got rid of the GPS bug most of us had, (where when u opened and closed an app using GPS, and the phone went to sleep, it wouldnt actually be sleeping) I would say it does work better on Froyo.

That might mean a lil better battery life with Froyo.

Has the GPS bug fixed been confirmed? I like leaving on the GPS, but hated running my battery down to 10% by 5:00.

TIA.

For those of you who had problems with Exchange 2003 not connection. Froyo has fixed this issue. I have synced my account and everything went smooth! :)

Testing it right now, at first glance it doesn't seem to be....phone still showing running at 100%, but I will let it run for a few hours and see if it drops as fast as normal.

I just noticed something else with Froyo. I have bus timetables in .pdf format on my X. On 2.1, scrolling to the next page, it would stop and load the next page. Took 1-2 seconds.

With Froyo...its one continuous scroll. I thought I had zoomed in all the way on the .pdf, I was waiting for the next page to load. lol

And all this time I thought it was a .pdf feature to pause at the next page. It even does it zoomed in all the way. Now I wonder, is this better than pausing at the pages? Cuz if I'm not looking I could scroll past what I was looking for.

Whatever the case is its another Froyo performance improvement.

Okay, update for me last post, it appears the GPS bug IS fixed.....

1) Turned GPS on (phone was at 100% running at this point because I just rebooted it).
2) Opened Google Maps (let it update my position).
3) Closed Google Maps.
4) Checked phone about 5 minutes later.
5) Phone is now at around 70% running (on 2.1 it would still be at 100% running at this point).

So it seems that annoying GPS bug might be fixed with Froyo, it seems to be with what I have tested which is how I confirmed the bug back when it was discovered. It may have to do with how Froyo handles apps and what not, it might actually be forcing GPS to idle when no app is using it.

Quadrant went from 1100's with 2.1 to over 1300+ (1307) with Froyo 2.2!!! WOOT!

The clock has an AM and a PM icon on the top right...
umm, the power meter widget and all the screen widgets were previously stretched and skewed out to fit the larger screen it now looks like they are crisper... for example the power meter widget use to like full stretched on the top part of my screen all the way across and could not see anything behind it, now the power widget have curved rounded edges and is slightly smaller, looks better, and you can see the wallpaper amongst the corners... does that make any sense?

Get Rom Manager from the Market. It has Fix Permissions option (advanced mode). That fixed these errors for me.

My exchange setup finally works! I dont have to use touchdown anymore even though I just got my license for it.

2.2 is fly and working great things, however TouchDown app that brings up mail/calender etc from an exchange server is NOT working anymore. Seems like 2.2 killed the certificate sub routine. Anyone have a fix or ideas to get back online with mail?

PS wrote to the guys at Nitro and put the blame on Google. Said 'I had to hang in there'

Just wait until the Engadget folks do another vs. iphone browser test. It's the "ew the iphone 4 is a second faster loading than the Incredible." Of course the incredible was loading flash stuff too and the iphone ignoring it. The X will be similar.
