PSA: Froyo for the LG Ally is Going Out Now | Android Phone Fans
I understand what you are saying.If you want root DONT TAKE THE OTA!!
the bootloader has changed reportedly so it's advisable to just wait for the Dev to cook something up
Ok then Good to know.Right now no. With the mobile update way it does something to the bootloader where we cannot access it BUT it doesn't touch the custom recovery (based of irc reports) if one is there. This method is also more dangerous than the OTA way. If we could get into fastboot then a recovery could be flashed that way. It's possible the OTA could block fastboot too.

I know when i flashed mine today with the mobile updater, it left my recovery alone...but i had to hold volume up, menu, power to get into it...from there i was back into amon-ra recovery, and was able to flash the newer version of superuser and kept root. I did have to install superuser ver. 2.3.5 with root explorer before i updated.
Hate to keep bugging ya but is there a way you could edit your post and put a link to your thread in it?For all we know, the OTA update, and the LGMU update are two different things.
Don't take the LGMU, and or the OTA until the dev's have fixed any problems/removed bloatware/rooted the 2.2.1.. Just be patient and wait for a better release. Or if you're not too worried about root there are several guides to do so.
When it comes to the recovery, and root;
When you apply the LGMU (NOT OTA). You keep your root, and recovery. And as long as you update the SU (it's in one of my posts) you can keep your root and recovery menu. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO WAY TO ROOT 2.2.1 WITHOUT HAVING IT PREVIOUSLY.
Well now thats what I am talkin bout Brotha.Yes, you can push a custom recovery and install SU, from there install rom manager and install clockwork and you'll be back in business.

Oh crap manyes, I can make a guide if need be. Just push with adb and boot into recovery. From there it's simple.. thats the right link too.

Yes a new updated guide would be nice. That old one gets the job done but I have seen it be very confusing for newbs.yes, I can make a guide if need be. Just push with adb and boot into recovery. From there it's simple.. thats the right link too.
Your the man bro.Not my personal number, so I'll be fine.. thats only my dev phone.
Death do you think those people are stuck forever or will there be a remody for this state in the future?Its not possible.
The v6 method works. I did it 5 or 6 times last night helping drellisdee.
But seriously though. WHOEVER GETS THIS OTA DO NOT INSTALL YET. WE NEED YOU.
