Root Over clock question...

As far a frying your phone...it would have to be experiencing thermal run away. Trust me you'll know if this happens it will get way too hot to handle. Your phone would run so crappy before that you would cleary know.

Best way to charge sbc for battery performance is overnight with it off. Preferably usb. I say performance because fully charging is poor on long term life, stresses the battery, leads to plating blah blah.

Ok flashed the kernel 4.3.4. Can no longer get WiFi or 4g.....says error for both. What kernel should I try?

Do you think I should try manually flashing it now? Kernel manager didn't give me the option to wipe cache and Dalvik (sp) cache.

Got it working...reflashed manually. How do I do the battery thingy??? LOL...ahhhhh, you've taught me so much.....what a guy.;)

There is a whole procedure lol. I have been using an app called battery calibration. You are supposed to charge it fully, wipe stats, then unplug and let it discharge. You can also wipe stats in recovery instead of using an app.

Where did you get 4.3.4 from? All the links I try bring me to an error page :(

Edit: duh, nevermind, you used that app

Yes, that was the only place I could find a working link. Doing it manually worked perfectly. Evomattnc, I don't really want to charge at night by usb, do I have to with this kernel? If I do,I'm not keeping this kernel. I needs my wallcharger at bedtime.

no you don't have to just suggested it for best battery life combo.

I wondered where you've been...lol. Thanks. What are the min. And max settings, I can use on set CPU with this kernel? Do you know? Thanks again.

Probably 245-1152 but every ones phone is diff.

Lol I do most of my forum trolling at work, when I get home all bets are off. Gotta give the gf attention to avoid her wrath, then continue my scrubs marathon for the third time in my life, play some call of duty, and flash stuff on my own phone lol.

Oh yeah, you have a life...lol. yes, put those things away and cuddle the girlfriend. You guys enjoy your night.

im not familiar with over clockr. is that an app you get in the market? i looked it up and could not find it. i think most of us here on this forum use setcpu. here is a thread that has some good info on it. http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/210253-setcpu-guide.html. main thing if you use setcpu is to make sure that you do not select the "set on boot" box. if you set it too high, you could end up in a boot loop. some can be set as high as 1190, but i would not go that high. i usually have it set at 1152.

U shud click on set on boot...ur giving the wrong advice

ummm i beg to differ. you do not want to select set on boot initially because if you set it too high your phone you will end up in a boot loop. so you should always not have that checked unless you know that your phone can handle it. once you know that your phone is stable then by all means go ahead and set it to be set on boot.

You can disagree but be diplomatic.

And as far as set on boot is concerned it's up to you if you set on boot. Ocn is fully correct though don't set it initially till you know it's stable or you will boot loop into eternity. You can feel free after... Yes we can get you out of the that loop but it's irritating none the less.

Once more this thread was old and you revived it to argue? Good job...

so do SetCPU and a havs kernel work fine together now? I keep finding conflicting posts on that subject.
I ask, because I like the havs kernels, but would like to overclock as well for performance to see if it improves some of the lags I encounter when using sense.

i used it when i was on sense and havs kernel. i just did not use any profiles. my phone seemed to like havs better than no havs.
