me to i did notice i do have some occasional disconnect problems fixed with a reboot but there rare. an dont even know if it has to do with the kernel anyway . so i was wondering the same.thing

I wanted to comment that I have been using this kernel on my Ultra without the wifi module zip on OP flashed to it and I have been using my Ultra tethered to my Intercept over wifi with no problems. It's using the stock wifi module and it works fine. Did I miss reading something?......it works like this fine for me.

same here...every time i redo my phone i usally install the wifi fix for the hell of it, recently tried without it and have had no problems so far..
Thanks again for your work BZ

i enabled that, maybe if the kernel boots this time i will have an alpha release

vv this is already enabled by default vv
CONFIG_HAVE_LATENCYTOP_SUPPORT=y

I'm following instructions for installing new kernel. cwm says "restore complete" but when I check settings I says kernel 26357 and rom manager still only has noop or cfq as options for I/o scheduler.

Thanks for the feedback.... I'll look at it tonight when I get home.

Sorry about asking for something else to be added to your kernel but making it compatible with CM7 would help. It would need BOOTCLASSPATH changed, the netd fix for CM7, and a rmt_storage fix in the initramfs. Penguinrepair already has these fixes in his kernel but adding them to your kernel would help debug the rotation bug we have in CM7.
You can rip out the initramfs from penguinrepair's kernel and look at the changes. :fight:
Edit: BTW...the kernel is not the source of the touchscreen bug. CM7 for the TU does not have the touchscreen bug using a stock kernel and a modified initramfs. Something in the GB stock install is causing the TS bug...my guess is that CIQ is causing latency in the TS data stream.

Thank you Bob for your new kernel. It is compatible with CM7 now.

  • Fixes rotation bug
  • OC works(tested with No-Frills)
  • Governers and I/O Schedulers also selectable using No-Frills
  • Apply on boot works
  • Su works fine
  • Touchscreen bug gone

Looks like the touchscreen bug in stock Gingerbread is gone too.

Edit: Bug report for WiFi with modules flashed. WiFi error:
WiFI_BobZ_2.1 - Pastebin.com

Confirmed from console:
# insmod /lib/modules/dhd.ko
insmod: init_module '/lib/modules/dhd.ko' failed (Exec format error)

Dmesg:
[ 832.928042] dhd: version magic '2.6.35.7-g4873f0f-dirty preempt mod_unload ARMv7 ' should be '2.6.35.7-g4763763-dirty preempt mod_unload ARMv7 '

Hope this helps.

Did you try the wifi fix? Judging by the description for the wifi fix I believe it will work for this new kernel too... see op

Just wanted to confirm the wifi fix does NOT work with the new kernel. I think that's what Bads3ctor was saying, but I don't fully understand "dev-lish" so I thought I would post in layman's terms. :D

i keep my phone on 1.4 always..and lows at between 368 and 460 mhz...on interactivex

i usally never go above 1.4 because im not trying to shorten the life of my phone..and if i do go above 1.4 its usally just to test and benchmark..never usally that long

i found that if i go below 368 on the low side..the phone can be a lil laggy after waking up..

Try using SmartassV2 I find that there's no lag when waking and it manages the processors clock more intelligently than interactive when the screen is off.

Updated OP with Wifi fix

Sorry for the problems, it's not easy to work on multiple projects with a wife and five kids interrupting all the time!

Thanks bob and I bet its even harder when you don't have the phone you're working on!
