unless you're specifically having problems with the phone running with the stock ROM and not rooted, then there's nothing that the warranty would cover. Just because you can't OC means nothing to verizon or LG, as 600 mhz was the speed this processor was designed to run at. Like someone said earlier in this post, it looks as though your cpu BARELY passed quality control...
like i said, it had rebooted itself a few times before any of this, before i ever flashed a rom or installed setCPU
a couple times playing Antigen, and game you can get from the market for free, and then a couple times when having several browser tabs open and launching a video.....
so i called them up, they asked about memory usage and apps. i had 35Mb free at that time. her response was WOW, you're running really low on memory. to which i said not really, thats only 65% utilization considering the 100Mb or so you left us free after installing all those apps we may not care about but have no way to remove.......
so she's like, let me call LG and find out what the minimum is required to run without rebooting. i told her that should be zero, the device should never reboot like that from intended usage. then i grabbed my wifes ally, checked it. i told the rep her phone has a whole 15Mb's free and has not experienced any reboots at all
so then she says LG couldn't give her an answer, the only thing to do is to flash back to stock, removing all apps, and install one or two apps and seeing if it still happened. then after 2-3 days install a couple more apps. and to keep doing this until we found the point at which it starts having problems, then we know how much memory we need free.....which is absolutely ridiculous. i am not treating my new smartphone with kids gloves, especially when it is clearly malfunctioning. she's pretty clever in that by the time i find the breaking point i will be outside of the cancellation period without penalty you see....
i told her to suck it. i bought a smartphone running android to USE it. i should be able to completely fill the memory and still use it. would it be slower? sure. but it shouldn't reboot randomly? no, thats a sign of hardware failure, and asked her to explain my wifes phone running its ass off with 15Mb's free and no problems....she's like eh......
here's the thing, the first few times it did this i shrugged it off, but once i put setCPU on and tried to even run one step higher than stock and found out it would not run 30 seconds that way....just exposes the defect in it even more
it's not even about overclocking it now as i have since flashed back to original rom and uninstalled setCPU, now its about finding out i am going to have to carry this thing for the next two years, having to be extra careful not to overload it by actually running an app that makes it work, wondering when it's going to reboot on me.....it's BS and i will be taking it into a local Verizon store and demand a new handset or we can just cancel the contract
