Root Oxygen ROM

splatty

Newbie
Just wished to mention that I have recently completely wiped my Desire and installed RA-Desire recovery, S-OFF and the Oxygen ROM and the phone is now fantastic. Extremely responsive and battery life is superb. Achieving 1599 on Quadrant.

Actually, I've encountered my first problem! RomManager \ Clockwork mod applies it, starts up, than just has the word 'android' shining at me - but nothing happens. Back to the drawing board for me...

Update > Popping the battery and going into recovery, it applied the Oxygen ROM again and started up nicely - now to train myself to use this instead of Sense...

For how long?

Give it 15 minutes to build dalvik cache. Assuming you did a data wipe before install

Yup - I think that was what it was - after 15 minutes I popped the battery, and then it went on installing fine. Narrow escape, probably.

It's looking very smart. It's also really quick, which is appreciated.

I am getting something odd happening, though - although I've rooted, and got things working fine, doing things like trying to install a theme - thru oxygen - gets me to the stage where it boots into recovery manager - but then the manager always fails to perform the theme update.

Any pointers?

Just started using this myself today, it absolutely flies compared to other ROMS I've installed.

Shame there's no a2sd+ though. :(

Anyone recommend a fast Desire ROM with a2sd+? The space issue is the bane of my life.

I plan on switching to Oxygen once it's updated to 2.3.

Got really excited when I saw 1.0.4 today, thought it might be it :/

Oxygen is the ROM I've settled on too :) I rooted last week using unrEVOked and it was tremendously painless (though I was nervous about doing it)!

I like it, only difference I've noticed in todays update was the 'oxygen' splash screen thing on startup.

My phone runs swiftly now with better battery. Just having a few problems with MMS settings on o2 but it's not immediately important

Hi guys,

was going to make a new thread but this will do perfectly.

been using this since yesterday, it is extremely fast, i cannot believe it. Ive been using sense based roms and this is my first plain ole google rom. Gingerbread is great, love all the little touches, it seems quite polished and uniformed, may see not point in adding themes to this.

Ive never used standard google apps for messaging, email, contacts etc as i used all the sense based ones (they were really good).

Could you guys please help me figure out a few problems im running to.

1. The contacts - With the sense based version of this, all the contacts had info pictures from facebook. This does it too, but is there a way i can manually link them like within the sense version? Because some have linked up and some haven't. When i go to edit the contact, i can only choose one from the gallery or take on.

I never used the sense launcher but used the apps.

If anybody has any good work around, that'd be great.

Thank you

Is this ROM only for GSM phones? I'd like to find a decent, lean, fast rom for my US Cellular CDMA phone (my sisters).

Love this. But, in the manage applications bit how come my "Move to SD" is greyed out? I wanna put big apps like maps, facebook, flash etc on there.

That's for the Froyo-style A2SD, and not all apps support that (the app ModInstallLocation can be used to increase the number you can move, but there are still a few exceptions).

But Oxygen supports A2SD+ (move to ext partition on SD card), so if you have that the "move to SD" is irrelevant - you want the apps to be on the "phone", i.e. on the ext partition.

Hasn't Oxygen Gingerbread just been released? Oxygen v2.0 RC-4 is on XDA now...

Yeah, but Jammy posted that 10 days ago ;)

Haha, I've been on Oxygen since TEST4, currently RC3, downloading RC4 :p

Very easy to set up - I have a 512MB partition on my SD card for apps :)

Very nice - Had occasional reboots in RC1 and 2, but they've stopped.

RC3 was nice and stable... I haven't used RC4 enough yet to tell you, but it seems good...
