UPDATE wiped sd card, phone is plugged in. did the update. when it asks to restart i hit yes and then it goes to the boot animation. i feel like im getting somewhere right?

So did it boot fully?
hopefully. the ruu the granite gave you is for the stock rom and stock recovery. so if this works and you can boot up, do not be alarmed that when you try to go to recovery that you get a red triangle. this is a stock recovery and you do ot have access to it so you will get the red triangle. all you need to do then is folow dustwin's instructions on getting amon ra installed.

yes.i update then reboot it works. but then it freezes at the google sign in page. so then i can get into revovery from there. but when i start it up again it does the htc evo reboot.

hahaha im gonna try and copy a nandroid from my clockwork folder and restore.. could that work? im hoping now that i can get into recovery...
you can't get into recovery until you install one. go here:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html and go to switching recoveries section to get the directions to get you amon ra installed.

its only booting up with the charger in and only getting into recovery when i restart it from holding the power button down once its already booted up and on the sign in page. this is weird.. gonna try the amon ra

now the sd card isnt mounting. i got it to boot up.and i can get into recovery...but once there its not reading my sd card for a restore or anything. i could really use some tips or ANYTHING. I JUST WANT MY EVO BACK!!!!!!

Try a different SD card if you have one. It's possible that your SD card has gone bad.

I think he is not able to access the card from within recovery to try and "Recover" on of his images.
My Advice is forget trying to restore one of your images. Go with a fresh setup. First wipe everything except SDCARD 3 times manually then get the superwipe (found on rooting for dummies) run that (I personally run it 3 times as well) Then flash the ROM and go from there. Make sure everything looks ok before trying to Reinstall your apps, or a Kernel.
