Here's another question for you guys. I am running the CM7 beta 0.8 on my phone. I turn on the hotspot in settings I can't connect to it from my laptop. However my friends ipad and his sisters nook, my ps3 and other android fine connects to it just fine not an issue. But my laptop running windows 7 starter is a no go...

How old is your laptop? Perhaps your wireless card in your laptop can't do wpa2 encryption? try turning off the encryption in the Hotspot settings.

Edit: One more thing. Make sure that you have the latest driver for your wifi adapter in your laptop.

the computer is brand new and up to date. I have took the encryption off too. I don't know it works with through usb tethering I goes with the computer that is ok for now

My computer(Up to date windows 7) has the same problem,it will say there was a error connecting to the hotspot and will try to fix the issue.Sometimes it'll let me connect but most of time it says the issue could not be resolved.I find this Kind of weird because usb tethering works flawlessly with my laptop and wireless tethering works with other android phones,my ipod etc

You guys could try upgrading to my newer version of the CM7-TG-Reloaded ROM, it has updated code from CyanogenMod 7 & also disables wifi combo scannning, which should make it compatible with more wifi devices.

BTW, USB & wifi tethering works fine for me, first few times the wifi tethering connects, but waits a long time before it connects to internet.

Please keep in mind that rules of this forum prohibit discussion of tethering on Virgin Mobile as it's theft of services

Theft of services is - theft. Stealing, methods/apps to get around TOS agreements you have accepted and tips on how to work the system - are against our rules for discussion.

Thanks for understanding.
Virgin Mobile's official tethering policy

According to the Virgin Mobile's Terms of Service (ToS) available at http://www.virginmobileusa.com/legal/terms-of-service-no-annual-contract

Virgin Mobile's official policy about tethering is Quote:
Specific Terms and Restrictions regarding Data Services
If your plan includes data services, such services are provided solely for purposes of web browsing, messaging, and similar activities. You are responsible for all data activity from and to your mobile phone or device regardless of who initiates the activity. You may not use the data service:... (4) for an activity that connects any device to personal computers (including without limitation, laptops), or other equipment for the purpose of transmitting wireless data over the network (unless customer is using a plan designated for such usage)
Currently Virgin Mobile does not offer any plans that allow tethering. If you need to use your Virgin Mobile service for mobile internet please sign up for a Broadband2Go plan and purchase the appropriate device at the following link Broadband2Go - 3G Mobile Broadband Service | Virgin Mobile

An option would be to buy a mifi from them, as you can wirelessly tether to 5 devices from it :)

This has been discussed before without issue.
