Post Here if You Have Received The Update

no text, just checked like i do every other morning, updated quickly but sat on the pulsating S for quite a while, got the congratulations message. a youtube widget got added to one of my homescreens and i got quickoffice.

quadrant score of 888, but i cant remember what it was before, genius me.
my biggest lag has always been with the facebook app, and its still very laggy
 
Now noticing Connecting to DM manager now after reboots. More startup lag which I hope goes away. Yes, the #*# GPS shortcut doesn't work for me either and locking doesn't seem much better (or even fixed). Stock ROM. Hey, the YouTube widget is updated, woohoo!!!
 
I just tried 4 times to install the update, having to bump my date up by one each time. Every time it fails.
Rooted, Side-loading set, original GPS settings. WHA DA FAK?

Downloaded update, phone attempted to update then failed. Rebooted fine, but for some reason connecting to device manager won't go away. So I can't even re-try the update
 
I checked for the update while I was standing in line in the cafeteria at lunch time today. I would say that from first tap on the check for updates to the Congratulations screen, didn't take over 10 minutes. The upgrade completed flawlessly and painlessly for me. My Captivate is showroom floor stock, I've added a few apps in the month I've owned it, but nothing designed to unlock, root, or otherwise modify the basic package as delivered. Scored an 888 on Benchmark Standard. Not screaming, but not bad, IMHO.

I've not noticed any issues with GPS before the update, so I don't know if it's improved or not. I can say that while outside after lunch, the phone showed me to be in one parking spot to the left from my actual physical location. So that's what.....12 feet off? I'm calling that acceptable for any application on the phone. Lock time was less than 20 seconds from when I opened Google Maps and tapped My Location.

All in all, I have nothing bad to say about the Captivate. I went from an iPhone 3gs to the Samsung Captivate, and I have zero regrets. For me, the Android OS beats iOS hands down in the little everyday things, like being able to customize the ringtones for email and text message notification, PROFILES, ease of data transfer between the phone and computer, standardized power/data/audio connector, not being tied to iTunes, and the ability to have a spare battery......just to name a few.

Not meant to be flaming Apple and/or the iPhone, just my personal observations. As always, do your research and YMMV.
 
Unrooted, stock rom, only had the phone less than a week. GPS was almost non-existent with Google maps, didn't get a text for the update, but retrieved it manually, went smoothly, indicated successful, confirmed the firmware. Just did a test drive of a few miles through town and GPS seemed almost perfect -very pleased, so far ;)
 
Mine is rooted, sideload enabled, + 1 click lag fix. It updated fine.

Root and lagfix is still in place, did not try sideloading.

GPS - too son to tell, but seems to lock about the same.

Quadrant score is 2304. Seems to be my best score so far.

I think some AT&T bloatware came back, but not sure. I didn't remove all of it.

Update worked fine for me. I rooted in the past to apply one click lag fix but unrooted after applying it.
I'm not sure if my gps was broken, but it did seem very slow. First time I tried GPS Test after the update I got many satellites, but then google maps wouldn't display a map when I tried to get "my location." I rebooted the phone and now my wifi connection is fluctuating between 2 and 3 bars from my room (usually 2 max), and my 3g connection has reached 5 bars at time, (usually 2 to 3).

Edit:
After about 10 minutes, my signal strengths are back to their usual amounts. Problem is gps test isn't reporting any satellites and usually it would recognize a couple.
 
For the software update to install do we have to unroot phone and go back to stock settings , or can you run it on rooted/ lag fixed phones?
 
I was rooted and lag fix, backed out of both and I am still getting the error that it can not connect to AT&T server. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
 
yeah i am getting update could not be completed looks like going to back up via titanium and try again i tried it twice manually updating
 
Stock, no root, no changes made using LbsTestMode, applied update. My GPS performance is now worse that it was before. I can't get a lock and Google Maps places my location about 10 miles away from my actual location and sometimes it's a mile away, but never my true location. I'm past my 30 days now with AT&T and I'm not sure what my options are. Should I try altering some of the settings using LbsTestMode?
 
Update went without glitches. Seemed to have fixed the Wifi issue associated with networks using Netmasks other than 255.0.0.0 - GREAT news for me!
 
It downloads fine for me and then when it installs, it goes half way and says updated failed. I tried it the first time with root and lagfix and then I undid those and still no dice.

did you use something like odin to put your phone back into stock mode, i am wondering if thats something i have to do to get update to work
 
Folks, read my other post (Breaking News One), JH7 does not contain a fix for the GPS. We still have a week left in September, Samsung might deliver but based on my conversation with AT&T and them today, they have no clue. I was also blaming AT&T but now realize that Samsung is just saying anything to quiet the masses, we are all being taken for a ride by them.

I am starting to think they pushed this update out so they dont get any flak for promising an fix in sept. It seems to be the same old jh7 release thats been out in the wild for 3 weeks or so .
 
Don't hold your breath for another update in the next few days specifically to fix GPS . . . THIS IS THAT UPDATE.

From Android Central:

Samsung just announced that the update currently being pushed to the Captivate -- AT&T's version of the Galaxy S -- does indeed include a fix for the GPS issues that plagued a good many of us at launch. Here's the official word:
An update to improve the Samsung Captivate's GPS performance is now available. Captivate customers will receive a notification on their device that an update is available and will simply need to download the file to update their phone. The updates will be pushed to customers​
