Post Here if You Have Received The Update

Manually updated, took about 5 minutes and sucked my battery down.

Tried google maps and my location was still off my a couple hundred yards, and google navigation wouldnt work. What settings is everyone using: use wireless networks? use gps satellites? skyhook?

stupid question from me: do I have to be on 3g or is wi-fi ok? I searched "3g" in this post and got no results. Thanks for the quick hit. I started the process on Wifi and then thought about. However, the secreen says "Software update" and "communication in process". Stock Rom and rooted. Thanks again.

I tried that (*#1472365#) and got a "USSD code" running message, and then a "rejected" message.

Same here.

Have you both tried setting a shortcut to lbstestmode?

I'm trying to find that out too.

I searched the thread, didn't see anyone else have this issue. I flashed my device back to stock, so no root, no lagfix, no anything. Looked for the update and it found it right away. Got to 2% downloaded and died. Now when I look for the firmware again it says, "no firmware." I have rebooted the phone and still no luck.

Anyone else seen or seeing this?

I had that issue. Pull the battery, slowly count to 10, reinstall battery and power up phone. That should fix it.

Ok updated manually [did not remove sim]. Downloaded quick and install was painless. Media scanner is faster for me. Phone seems more responsive and it might be my eyes playing tricks but I could swear the screen seems tad more detailed. All my software is functional. Did not try GPS since I'm in server room.

When I did my update I had Wifi on. As soon as I told it to search for an update, the 3G icon appeared. Wifi stayed on but 3G was used for the update.

Tried GPS after update. My settings are back to stock. GPS locked onto 7 satellites outdoors in 10 seconds with a 10m area. Opened Navigator and set an address. GPS seemed to be working, even threw it a curve and turned around and it re-calculated the route. Seems to be working to me.

Wow. So the download stopped at 7% or so. When I went to resume, it restarted my phone - tried to update - said update failed and now the phone is... dead.

Won't turn on. Won't charge. Won't anything.

Rooted Only.. Downloaded the update..Successful..Took about 3 min..
Have tested the GPS now fro about 3 hrs and it has been FLAWLESS so far. Locks in about 10 sec or less and TRACKS DEAD ON now. WOOO freakin HOO

I finally got into my GPS setting using anycut. I created a shortcut to LbsTestMode. I can confirm that my setting have not changed with the update. I still have the XDA setting applied i.e. MS Based, Use Skyhook ON, supl.google.com, port 7276.

I will not be changing a thing. My GPS works for now so no tinkering for me...

Got the update, have not tested GPS yet, but something new... Youtube widget now says: "Connection problem. Touch to try again." No luck getting that resolved yet.

Gps inside my house works better than ever. Locks on 4 satellites in 30 seconds. I had tried all the fixes and nothing worked before. This update definitely did something.

K, that worked.

For others:

  1. Long-press
  2. shortcuts
  3. activities
  4. LbsTestMode
  5. 1st Option that appears (com.sec.android.app.lbstestmode.LbsTestMode)

I don't have "activities". Did you use an applications to give you access to that or are you rooted?

Thanks, that worked but I downloaded the update and after the reboot the install got to 50% and then died. After next boot there was no change in my system. Any ideas?

I updated but I think I already had it or something. Nothing has changed under about phone... Where should I be looking and for what? Thanks

Firmware - 2.1update1
Kernel - 2.6.29 Sept 11#2
Build - Eclair.UCJH7

I got the same firmware and kernal but a different build, still the old build, mine went to 50% and failed!! Anyone else that failed notice this, our kernel shouldn't have updated if it failed to that should it have and if it did would anyone know how to fix that, i've updated my clock all the way to oct1 to get updates and they have failed, I then did a reset on my phone and it updated now but not sure if it failed yet.....still dowloading hopefully that will fix my failures :(

Let me tell you, this beats having to use ITunes to update your phone.

Actually, no.
Mine updated told me it failed, but yet reports:
Firmware version: 2.1 update1
Baseband version: I897UCJH7
Kernel version: 2.6.29 jetaek.lee@sep-11 #2
Build number: ECLAIR

But no option to re-run the upgrade, nothing, nada, zilch.

At least with a desktop application you had more control and could re-run.

Tomorrow I'll try again and see if it thinks I stll need the upgrade.

Maybe just the crappy extra software was all that failed as I see no signs of the office app I did not want anyways.

It took over 3 minutes to get a GPS lock outside - definitely not fixed for me here!

Is the
[*] the satellites that there's a 3D lock on?

Not a good lock at all in the house, accuracy 25 meters.

Just ran the H/W test and it locked, indoors, in 11 seconds. Interesting how inconsistent it is.

I did not get the QuickOffice app on my phone, I had to download it from the Market. Look for the one that is called "Quickoffice for Captivate". You may not want the app, but it will let you know if you have the fix if you can edit a document.

update, my compass seems to be much more functional now. Google Sky is actually semi usable finally. My accelerometer is not calibrated however?
