Nice job man! Not sure if i could be better to add a backplate to my 670 though :-P

I've contemplating doing something similar to my 580, but then I realized that I'm too lazy to OC, so the cosmetic effect wasn't enough motivation for me lol.

On a side note, build after upgrades:

CPU: Core i7-3770K
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD4H
GPU: EVGA GTX 580 SC (old)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) @ 1600MHz (added 2 extra 4GB sticks)
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB (old)
Ex-HDD: Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 2TB (old)
PSU: Corsair HX750 (old)
Case: Corsair 600T SE (old)
Aftermarket CPU fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212+

Future contemplation:

PSU: Corsair AX1050
GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 670 in SLI

Its a double edged sword. Now that there is no risk of touching live terminals I can touch the area of the GPU chips when the 690 is running and it puts a terrifying amount of heat out when I play Far Cry 3.

Typo there.... I meant to say I couldn't be bothered..

But the backplate cools the card down? I mean it gets rid of more heat?

Yes it has thermal pads (similar to the paste you use on your CPU) which transfer heat from the GPU to the backplate. Also since it is metal rather tha PCB it radiates heat better.

Mine runs plenty cool! haha 60 degrees C when gaming at high settings for Black Ops, I have friends that have cards idle at that temp haha

Anyone looking at getting the GTX Titan?? haha wish I could afford it it'll only set you back a grand

If the 670 FTW uses a 680 PCB... could I use a 680 backplate ? :D

Heads up : I will be uploading pics of my PC soon :D

I could get a Titan by selling my 690 and putting

If I had GTX 690 money laying around, you know damn well I would have one in my system lol.

Depends what you mean by "laying around" ? Like most people I had lots of junk lying around the house and its nearly all sold on ebay now. I also got my card on ebay as an OEM "buy it now" item and I knew if I hesitated it would be gone. I have my phone set to alert me of 690's for sale and one popped up on ebay for

I'm thinking it might be time to give away some more swag on Android forums. Someone email me a reminder. :)

I tried going on modsrigs.com but after I log in and click on the build tab, I'm logged out ?

Just added a pair of Bitfenix Spectre Pro 200mm fans to the top of my case to improve the airflow a bit.

The one flaw with my case, i have to use nzxt fans because it was made with proprietary positioned holes for screws

but they work fine so no complaints. Been thinking about getting the second 200mm fan on top, but never have seen a need for it yet.

Looks nice on yours though haha

I've been thinking of changing the fans/ adding a top one but never really got round to it. Now I'm thinking of just getting something like a Corsair AF 120 to replace the rear Cm one on my case.

( I know the cable management is pretty messy here. So much in fact that I had to use my head and my hands to shove the side panel back on)

Thoughts? :P

my thoughts are why is my cable management so horrid compared to every one elses :p

lol

Looks great! And nice specs, great to finally see it!

Specs are great and PC looks good but lose the stock cooler.

I know, i was going to but again, I got lazy and forgot about it. Although the temps are pretty fine, I might consider something like the cm 212 hyper if it's a good price :-P or if something else is better?

I might look to get a backplate for my graphics card in the future. Not sure if I'd prefer an ek 680 one (similar to yours) or a proper evga 670 ftw one.:-D

Might be cos I have (slight) OCD? And as you can see (and in some bits you can't) I used quite a few cable ties etc too.

cheers!

Again -_- I was putting off uploading the pics cos I'm just lazy. Although I've just realised that I could've done it in a minute from Tapatalk :'(

I have extreme ocd and it kills me every time I open my case haha but I just cant seem to get it done right, and I don't want to use cable ties until I know its right lol.

Wow that one post right when the page loaded makes me want to rip all my cables out! haha

Useful thread here - 2517 pages long - Post your "rate my cables" here
Some of the earlier PC's look quite comical

I think there's a whole sub-reddit for cable horror too, pretty funny stuff.

And man.... I want a 690 (or Titan).... But my 670 seems to handle skyrim at 60fps 2560x1600. (30" dell) But it struggles with The Secret World. I also don't even want to know how bad it will be at crysis 3 heh.

I definitely prefer the single card solution though. Mostly for less hassle. So I guess the 690 > the Titan unless I go SLI with the Titan? I could maybe convince myself to drop $1000 on a card but not $2000 :o

The question is whether I would be better off just sucking it up and getting a second 670 but they seem to have gone UP in price

This is what I have and I swear it was $399 when I got it...
EVGA 04G-P4-2673-KR GeForce GTX 670 Superclocked+ w/Backplate 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card - Newegg.com
($440 now)
