You must be left handed... no righty would put his icons that far away. There would be serious thumb strain.
It's possible this person didn't want the icons to clash with the wallpaper.

Not weird at all, it bugged me a bit as well. Turns out Simple Calendar will allow you to turn off the month and date display, see below. Not sure if simple calendar will let you exclude the date from the display at the bottom, but I went with smooth calendar widget because it allowed me to disable the date.... for some reason it bugged me having the date in my clock widget and my calendar widget. It still kinda bugs me that I have the clock on the main screen and in the notification bar. Is that weird???
I also tried the Vos Neon icons, I like the style and bit better but they don't convey conditions as obviously to me.Also, I tried about 40 million weather skins including the one you have. After a little while I felt the graphics on a lot of them were too cartoony for the clean simple look I was going for. I wish I was artsy enough to make my own.
I'm very text based so I read the labels better than processing icons. I also do know the position of each item pretty well.I considered the text buttons for the dock but never got around to it. Do you find yourself taking an extra second to choose which word to click on or have you gotten used to the location so that you know which app is where without even looking?
popovpumpkin - what clock and weather widgets are those?
Nice clean home screen!

Smooth Calendar has a lot of restrictions, even if you resize it the text does not expand. I also prefer to specify colors more exactly than the slider approach they use. And the entire widget color is set. Simple Calendar allows me to set individual item colors and styles.

Thanks for thinking enough of my design to spend the time critiquing it.
another. think i gotta tweak the colors a bit more. anyway ....

Awesome man thank you!
Can anyone here resize this please for the gnex?
Thanks!!!
There is just something special about blues and papers with blue in them on the GN screen. Also in combo with the stock icons, they just shine. That AMOLED shows it off so brilliantly. Looks good MyGalaxyNexus!
What ROM/launcher is that?
I haz wall paper
