drives_scanner.jpg

These came last night. The two external drives are replacing two still perfectly good ones. I decided that, with both 6 years old, ≈60% filled, and showing no signs of impending doom, this would be a good time to retire them. Also, my oft-mentioned, neverending, network drive housecleaning project included an almost-total revision of my media subdirectory structure. The current drives have backups of the old structure; I wanted to start fresh backing up the new structure.

The photo scanner was chosen after an exhaustive, and exhausting, search. I was looking for a simple, no bells and whistles scanner. It just needed to be stationary, have a feeder, handle photos of various sizes dating back many decades--without requiring manual cropping/editing of every scan, as with a full-sized scanner--and, ideally, connect to Wi-Fi and/or my Linux computers. This one works with or without a computer--that's what the SD card is for.

So now I can finally tackle the 'digitize all my family photos' project previously attempted, multiple times, starting in the '90s, with regular scanners. I inevitably gave up. It was just too much of a pain. :o

[Ignore the dark chocolate coconut Silk yogurt-alternative container--I just needed it to prop up my latest purchase on the bed.]

It's a bubbler. Kind of like a bong. My live-in helper chose it for me yesterday.

And, yep, that's really what it's for!

After swearing off recreational drugs at 16, and never looking back, my current situation has led to a number of things I never could've imagined. Excruciating, body-wracking pain and its accompanying lack of sleep, left me desperate for relief not being provided by my prescriptions. So I'm now smoking pot again, only last thing at night.

In doing so, I'm breaking a cardinal rule I instituted at 17, when I wanted to get pregnant: no smoking--of any substance--in the house. But at least this isn't like full-on stinky smoke, permeating every cell and fabric.

I have a pink Bubbler but it's built a lil bit different :D

My motorcycle dealer has put my 'outfit' together and drove it from his workshop to our house this afternoon.

It's absolutely freaking gorgeous, I love it!!

My 50 year old dream of having a Triumph Bonneville 'rig' has finally come true.

Happy, happy days .

:D:D:D:D:D:D

Looks like very good combined engineering. I researched it on the Triumph site and found the sidecar people. I can understand the desire!

I think North Wales has some great quiet roads, though haven't been there. (I think you are around there).

Enjoy riding it together enormously, along with the admiration and biker chat. :)

Yes, North Wales is a fantastic bikers paradise. We moved to Knockin, a small village just over the border in Shropshire, in March 2019, so still within easy reach of some of the best biking roads in the UK.

Is that a ring? Whatever, it's way cool!!

I order this from Amazon the other day and received it today. If I have to wear a mask the rest of my life, I might as well like what I'm wearing.

The advantage of something of this design (no straps behind the ear) is that I don't jerk my hearing aids out of my ears when I take it off. Masks that have the elastic strap behind the ear are a genuine problem for those with hearing aids.

It's a genuine 90% silver coin ring... Isn't that hot though?

It's more breathable than a paper mask. They are all hot IMO. I like it for the ease of just pulling it up when I go into an establishment.
I far prefer wearing no mask at all. Going 67 years maskless spoiled me. :)

GE_dryer_installed_071220.jpg

Had this installed last weekend. I'd put off replacing the old one last year, when I replaced its matching washing machine. Got another year+ out of it! :D But, alas, my helper got tired of running 3+ cycles to get the laundry dry...so now we have a matching set:

I hate buying appliances and wait until my hand is forced. My washer and dryer haven't matched in many decades lol.
I hear you! I share your feelings. And it's so hard now, because if you're NOT a fan of electronic...everything...your choices are limited. I had to really search for a large capacity, high quality dryer [and, last year, washer] that didn't have all the electronic bells and whistles.

A refrigerator is next on the list--my current one made the cross-country move; it's about 15...16 years old...so its days are numbered... *sigh*

My fridge is next in line as well. It is still chilling but the dryer that evaporates the moisture in the fridge is out. The replacement part is no longer available.

I am with you with the less bells and whistles is less to go South. The simple basic machines are scarce these days. :(

Uh-oh! That doesn't sound good. Mine is still chilling, too, but every once in a [random] while, we'll see water on the top of the refrigerator door. [It's a top-freezer model.] But opening the freezer door doesn't reveal the source.

Indeed. You know, as much as I love technology, there's a limit to where I want it. I mean, do we REALLY need to be able to see what's in the fridge from our phones? I think not...

A washer and dryer (the one and only matching set) is what my new wife and I bought for our first Christmas. I was bummed when we were shopping for I lacked the funds to buy the fancy schmancy set with all the goodies. The sales guy looked me right in the eye and said this set will last you longer because it has less to go wrong. I can't speak for the high dollar models but what I bought lasted may years. I haven't had any of their replacements last nearly as long as those first appliances.
