This is all I have to show for it--the manual for my new sprinkler system's remote control. :D

I finally threw in the towel when it comes to keeping my yard watered. Long, boring story...the gist of it is that I had stopped using the in-ground sprinklers before I got sick, instead using portable oscillating sprinklers and soaker hoses. But, alas, after my illness the watering hasn't been done properly, and I couldn't stand it any more.

I got several quotes, some of which took my breath away, and ended up choosing a company that's very highly respected in my area. The existing sprinkler systems could not be salvaged, so they've been completely replaced. Plus, I had sprinklers added to the area along the entire length of my driveway and the perimeter of the house; those were previously covered by soaker hoses.

My live-in helper was the one who actually saw the process and received instruction on setting the timer. The remote control is really just icing on the cake! It works up to 1,000' away from the base unit--so I can use it from my bedroom. :) [I haven't actually seen it yet, though...my helper has it.]

The great thing about the timer is that each station/area can be set differently. So areas that need a little more love right now are getting more water than others.

I can't even describe how glad I am that I no longer have to worry about my beloved plants getting watered enough. It cost an arm and a leg, but it was well worth it.

If you're right...that's appalling...

In an English speaking country it would be appalling, which China isn't. Clothing here often has random things printed on them, that usually makes no sense at all, sometimes even random verses from King James Bible I've seen. :D

OT and P&CA:
Here's a recent news article that got my attention:
https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/10/us/usc-chinese-professor-racism-intl-hnk-scli/index.html
"A business professor at the University of Southern California became the center of an international academic controversy last weekend, after the school administration received a letter accusing him of using Chinese words that sounded like an English racial slur."
US political correctness and Black Lives Matter seem to have taken over?

It hit home with me, because I've often had to correct my students for saying "nàgè" when speaking English. And I suggest using "um" or "erm" instead.

Nothing new here, Mike. My grandfather used to tell a story about when he was new to this country. He was an Italian immigrant in South Philadelphia where there was a great influx of Italians, much to the chagrin of whatever the dominant nationality was at the time. He was riding a streetcar (aka. trolley) and as was the practice, the conductor would call out the street names, since many of the riders at the time couldn't read (or at least read English). He called out Allegheny Ave. as "[al-uh-gay-nee av]" and my grandfather heard "All the Guinea's off" thinking they were telling all those of Italian descent to get off the street car. He was sure that at any minute he'd be thrown off and was ready to fight back, but when it didn't happen, he was confused. After riding that particular street car a few more times, he finally was able to figure it out. While he admitted his own mistake, he was still offended by the fact that these derogatory terms were used with such frequency that his misunderstanding was possible at all.

So, when black people have an issue with racism, I can empathize .... at least a little.

Yes, I know from various things you've posted how mangled, and downright nonsensical, English can be there. But random nonsense is one thing--asking to be raped is quite another. I guess I think they should have a list of off-limits English words, and not use them.

Let's just say it's reached epic, and often ridiculous, proportions.

There are limits if the writing on clothing is in Chinese. Like if I walked around in a t-shirt with "自由香港"(Free Hong Kong) printed on it, I probably wouldn't get very far. But someone buying cheapo fast-fashion clothing in a night market, good luck with English or any foreign language. And I've seen a few primary school students with the F-bomb word printed on a hoodie, or baseball cap or something.

This week has been a blur... I feel like I was caught in a hurricane of activity and dumped somewhere to wonder what happened.

It started off nicely enough: went to church Sunday, all was well & normal. I woke up Wednesday to realize we were the new owners of an RV! "We bought a WHAT???"

Of course, the Darling Bride was all "mountains and rivers and streams, oh my!" And I'm all "valves and switches and breakers, oh no..." A BAG of manuals. I've never owned a trailer before, and rarely pulled one... and now we have a popup camper! Well, at least it's a nice one...

Refill on my prescription drugs, I was tempted to get a new windows ten disc, could of brought more mooney just to have, because I did not want to think about home essentuals as that inside my SSID, although I did bought a new mouse, and a few other things with the card though, but I do not want to sink in that for techincal detail for my comp.. Nor I do not want to have the massive tower missing for a long spell though, and get it back either. So yeah... For now the drugs.
