Prez Candidates

There's still a month left to mount a successful write in campaign on both sides. Won't be easy, but "possible." Just something to think about...

I did notice John McCain has publicly stated his intention to write in someone else he believes to be better.

Donald Trump Says Campaign Not in Crisis, and There Is ‘Zero Chance I’ll Quit’

Donald Trump, under pressure to step aside as the Republican presidential candidate after the disclosure of his having made lewd comments about women, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on Saturday that there is “zero chance I’ll quit.”

“I never, ever give up,” Mr. Trump said. He also said his campaign isn’t in crisis: “The support I’m getting is unbelievable, because Hillary Clinton is a horribly flawed candidate.”

Mr. Trump said he is considering making a speech on Saturday night to discuss the controversy as well as his campaign’s positions. He said the commotion over his remarks will blow over as it did in other instances, such as after his attacks on Sen. John McCain and his proposed ban on Muslims.

Is there any practical way for Republicans to replace Trump at this point? Not really

In the deluge of Republicans denouncing Donald Trump’s lascivious boasts about groping women, a common refrain emerged Saturday: The GOP nominee should withdraw from the ticket.

The pleas to step aside came from many corners of the GOP universe, including Hugh Hewitt, the conservative radio host, and South Dakota Sen. John Thune, a member of the Republican congressional leadership.

Trump has so far defiantly rejected calls to withdraw. But even if Republicans managed to persuade him to bow out, their political headache would not suddenly vanish. An attempt to replace Trump on the ticket would pose staggering logistical hurdles.

For one thing, Trump’s name will undoubtedly remain on the ballot.

OTOH, Trump's numbers may very well go up. It happened when Bill Clinton (finally) publicly apologized for his transgressions. Maybe I'm just a bit deplorable myself, but I somehow admire that he was chasing tail like a 16 year old at his age a decade ago. Just a "guy" thing perhaps?

Doesn't mean that I would actually vote for him, but this latest "news" isn't why. There's no way in hell he will destroy "the system" that allowed him to become a person of privilege, despite his claims to the contrary.

Of course Hillary won't either - sigh. What a mess. I'm truly at a loss as to what to think anymore. At least I tried by helping Bernie take Michigan...

I don't mind what he said... to other guys.. I think a lot of guys "say shit"
I know I do...

but with married women!! ... NO
force himself on women... NO
his over all demeanor to women.. is terrible. he has NO respect for women!

just more evidence.. the drumpf is a leading deplorable.

Does this affect the future of the country ... NO
Did this happen recently ... NO
Is Hillary innocent of all similarities in her past ... NO

At this point, does Trump look like a winner... NO
Is Trump out of tricks in his hat ... NO, I'd like to think.

so there are still people.. that still think he is a good leader...
someone they trust to run the country.. to look out for the people of the country....

I just cant get my head around that...
before this year... I would never believe a man like drumpf would make come so close to POTUS.
I would bet every thing I have.. against this.

if I saw this in a movie.. I would think the writer / director was stupid.

how the hell did Hitler make it to the top?
well.. here you are! amazing!

Drumpf is about hate...
racism .. riots.. banning a religion form entering USA... lies..
building walls.. containment camps...

and you think Hillary is closer to a Hitler???
because????
She lies more & is very sneaky about it, she kills ppl just for too much information(paranoia). A loudmouth idiot can be talked to for a change in temperament, whereas Hillary is inherently evil & psychotic in many ways.. meaning she won't change. The SS is absolutely cringing at the possibility of having to serve her any more terms. She's the embodiment of the kind of person many ppl dread interacting with. You have about as big a reality distortion bubble with politics as Apple fans do their devices. I'm not happy with Trump for many reasons but my biggest dread to "our" safety (Americans) is Hillary, what she's been doing & planning. [emoji88] Wake up, bro.

It Can't Happen Here (or can it)?

At the risk of getting into the middle of a p*ssing contest (not my intent), which of the two actually USE these methods the most (if at all)?

1) Scapegoating

2) Fearmongering

3) Lying

4) Emotional oratory and personal magnetism

5) Accusing opponents of weakness and disloyalty

6) Violence and physical intimidation

7) Personal insults and ridicule

8) Folksy posturing

9) Gross oversimplification

10) Attacking the news media

With the (possible) exceptions of #3 and #8, I'm of the opinion that Trump is the clear "winner" here, having used (nearly?) all 10. I have no facts I can (readily) cite to support #6, but the rest most certainly apply. Your opinion(s) may very well differ. If so, I *assume* we're all open to hearing/learning why anyone "factually" believes otherwise? I'm confident we can all be civil here and I reserve the right to change MY opinion should the facts sway me. Peace...

Sorry, you are saying that she has people killed for knowing too much? Have you been hanging around the tinfoil hat sites?
1. Yes. Notice how ppl with dirt on her are dying so much? Just saying.. Doesn't take any rocket scientists to notice the pattern.
2. No, just reading the news like anyone else and knowing from experience of the past how she is. Take heed.. She's scary

can you point me directly to these example of news reporting... Hillary taking out her opposition?
open my eyes....

her being mean to the SS.. she is a meanie.. bullies the big bad tough, gun carrying bodyguards.
is not the same as ... disrespecting all women! hating other races..

Actually I am a "rocket scientist", and see no patterns that go beyond those you could create for many politicians.

Sure, she's an operator, and in decades at the top of US politics she's had many dealings with people I'd find distasteful - heck, she used to be friendly with Trump until he decided that the other team would serve his ambitions better. But please don't expect me to take you seriously when you tell me that she's a Bond villain with a secret network of killers doing her bidding, and yet despite this immense power and the Machiavellian skills needed to keep this secret she has trouble managing her email or her husband.

Pattern Cases in point, see below. You have no idea the "Mrs. Hyde" she IS.
Thank you Sir, this is exactly what I was referring to (for @Hadron)
it is this uncanny string of folks expiring that scares me about Killery.

she only has to make a wish in silence it would seem and the trouble makers disappears for life.
Exactly.

Hope everyone else has as much fun as I am anticipating; Tonight's "debate" should be a hoot and a half!;)

Latest revelations:
(Latest example of a liberal, elite media doing a hatchet job on an otherwise good and decent man, who can't catch a break?)
Some tame version of locker room banter shouldn't be a problem. (Bless their hearts, there are some women who can keep up with the boys, in more than just this arena.):D But this was significantly beyond tame. I'll horse around a little, I enjoy comedy routines that take three or four steps out of bounds; But this is real life, it went far beyond what many would consider acceptable, and it was a true indicator of his character. A simple half hearted apology, for "ancient history" doesn't cut it. He's running for the highest office in the land, should be held to a higher standard than a 20 year old frat-boy. I suspect donald has spent the better part of a lifetime surrounding himself with the principled, courageous sort of yes-men who would laugh at and agree with his antics, no matter what. Hardly the kind of environment that would foster any personal growth; Instead, leading to the kind of narcissistic, childish tendencies which are so evident.

As damning as it is, I don't need this latest bit of controversy / evidence to pass judgement, truly wish this particular subject didn't enter the political discourse in the first place. It seems likely that donald will go "all in" with his tactics, sink to a desperate, new low in the debate tonite. I wish he wouldn't, and I hope she doesn't get down in the mud with him, if for no other reason than to uphold the quality of discourse in politics as a whole.

Rats leaving a sinking ship:
I'm not much impressed with others of his party that clearly weren't happy to see donald edging toward the nomination; But refused to speak their conscience at a time when something could have been done about this mess. Then they withheld any endorsement of the newly minted nominee, until it appeared to be politically expedient. They gave tepid support, in many cases, not wishing to get too cozy, but not wanting to be left out in the cold, either. And are now withdrawing their support, after the latest of many unsettling revelations. Just enough to distance themselves if he implodes, not so much that they can't step back in if he (or a substitute candidate) were to win.

Principled and courageous leadership at it's best. I'm looking right at you, Ted Cruz. Paul Ryan is still onboard, huh? Rudy - Christie, still on board, huh.? Nothing less than full throated condemnation by any of the sort described will earn any of you a second look on my ballot.....Ever. Step up, do the right thing (finally). Senator McCain came close to getting it right, he often does inspire me to think well of him; Even if I disagree with his policies, others would do well to follow his lead. I don't care much for Pence, but he strikes me as basically a good man, in an impossibly tough spot. One he willingly walked into, let's see what he does next.;)

I recognize it would be very messy; But I can easily imagine a scenario where donald either recuses himself, or is made to walk the plank. And a replacement ticket could have a reasonable chance at winning the general election. Stranger things have happened, and sometimes people get a perverse thrill out of being a part of strange events.

"So, Mr Trump, what do you have to say regarding the tape of you bragging about your sexual assaults on women?"
"ISIS! ISIS!!!! ISIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
