One of the clearest explanations I've seen, and kne which addresses the errors on both sides. Well worth the time to read and gain some factual understanding instead of relying on headlines and soundbytes.

Agreed, well written, and largely squares with other sources I trust, well cited.
She is a deeply flawed candidate; She makes mistakes, sometimes does a poor job of explaining the situation.....Partly because she seems to have an off putting personality. A significant handicap in a politician, (unless your name is trump).
I like the author's advice regarding how to handle the controversy; But the advice can't be followed in the real world.
First, it is too late, and few would be convinced to change their minds, turn their backs on a ginned up narrative that is tailor made to reinforce their view of Mrs. Clinton.
Second, since it is so late, it would only give the appearance of late inning damage control; Even if all true and a sincere mea culpa, it would give a sense of "let's try the latest draft of plan C" to try and make this thing go away.
And third, the specific language the author proposed opens about nine different ways for the opposition to selectively cull out bits and twist them in new directions; A time honored but hardly laudable political technique.
(Written moments before the ridiculous video posted above, thanks for making my point for me. Way to take things out of context, and add some heavy handed production techniques.) 15 minutes of wasted time.
They did an excellent job of making her look like donald frequently looks, except he does it in real time, and in context.
She is often her own worst enemy, and in the handling this matter, her initial silence may be the largest single mistake made. I view that silence as further evidence that she didn't think for one moment she had done anything wrong. She couldn't imagine this little story would last more than three days, or that it could be helped along in the manner that it was. "There is so little to it, why should we be worried anyone would even try to make political hay out of it?
In hindsight, major political misstep.
Not criminal, and nothing out of reason in the context of such a large machine.
