As stated often before, and clearly evident to anyone with a shred of respect for logic, truth, history, and any sliver of a mortal soul.......
If you voted like I suspect you did.......
You belong there; May you forever rot there, for what you did to my great nation; Expect no mercy, even for your descendendants in the coming generations.
U need to take your hatefulness elsewhere. It's funnel how Republicans are blamed for so much crap & here's someone of the other party saying (unsurprisingly) despicable stuff. [emoji49]
I.E. - "ur only allowed to think what I say, not see what I do".
Seemingly typical of "Democratic thinking" these days...

I just cant wrap my head around .. voting for drumpf

it is like planning to a family vacation in Iraq.
why, would you do that? and take your family with you?
We're voting the way we are so we don't bring Iraq to our doorstep & homes.. BTW, ur bleeding hearts aren't worth the lives of our children & families. Our rights to exist override your desire to infiltrate our society with murderous refugees & psychotic liar in chief.

With all due respect, Father G, my patience is (way beyond) exhausted. I'll think about what you've said, and consider it overnight.

I hope you were being ironic, Father G, in condemning my thoughts .
I am not condemning your thoughts. I even agree with many of them. But to basically tell a long time contributor here that he should rot in hell for his convictions and voting his conscience is beyond rude.

He started this thread to discuss the GOP nominees, and many (myself included) hijacked HIS topic. I recommended that we butt out as off topic, and instead he changed the topic to include the dissenting views of other parties. I considered that a class act.

We were warned by "Unforgiven" to be civil in our discussion here and you ignored this simple request. That is why I replied in such a blunt manner.

With regard to the statement that we are no longer one nation, that is simply wrong. There are outside influences trying their hardest to destroy our democracy. We may be somewhat divided, but still ONE. We had many differences when the tragedy of 911 occurred. The results? ONE NATION BONDING TOGETHER!

This election is the worst I've ever seen, between 2 of the most disliked people ever to compete for the highest office in the land. Truly sad.

I've said it before and will say it again: Money runs the country. Money runs everything. We don't have leaders, we have "owners." View my favorite clip one more time if in doubt:

I only vote because I have no right to complain otherwise.

^^---- Wow that's some powerful stuff there. He's got it absolutely right!

The ONLY way the 2nd amendment could be repealed (ONLY way) is if 2/3s of the members of both the House AND the Senate vote for repeal AND THEN…THIRTY EIGHT of our fifty states would have to vote in favor of ratifying the repeal.
No. She's gonna reverse the Heller decision.. Which she may be able to do via executive order.

Please define "bleeding hearts" and how you can "honestly believe" that ANYONE running truly cares about you. They DON'T.

I think so. Too bad he died before health care became such an important issue and political football. Can you imagine THAT rant?

Edit: The closest thing to (only begin) to correct the status quo was Bernie Sanders. Had he ran as the independent that he really is, I think he could have made it. But alas, he was Trumped by the Clinton money machine. I am comforted that I helped him win Michigan. He just ran on the wrong party ticket. We missed a truly great opportunity because of that.

I'm a little punch drunk due to working 16 hour nightshifts all week with no end in the immediate week or so.

I'd like to try and inject a little humor: For those old enough to remember, doesn't Kaine remind you of Red Skelton? One of the best comics ever :)

To anybody still considering: Brexit won because people wanted to "stick it to the government", not necessarily because they wanted to leave the EU. Be careful what you vote for - you might get it.

Assuming we still have an internet to use and people can still afford smartphones by then, I'll be intrigued to hear people's views a couple of years after the fact. It will be interesting to revisit this thread and see where we are. My guess - and hope - is it will be "plus ca change, plus ca reste", but one can't discount the possibility of a real life version of the Hunger Games, either.

I hope that however it goes down, people will own their vote. Accept that if you vote 3rd party in what is a two-party system, you effectively cast a vote for whichever of the main candidates actually wins, and don't spew moral high ground about "voting your conscience".

However, most important is VOTE. If you don't, you have no right to complain about what you get, good or bad.

PS @Unforgiven, I sincerely hope that you don't delete all posts or lock this thread. It's been one of the most civil online political discussions I've seen, and it would be a shame to stall that. Occasional bumpy moments have self-regulated, which is kind of cool too - makes me think maybe there's hope for the country yet...

That is so true. The parallels here are clear. The Brexit campaign whipped up hysteria, by focusing on emotive issues like mass immigration. These issues resonate with a certain (not insubstantial) demographic.
And let's not forget the blatant lies. They had a campaign bus with the slogan, in 2ft high letters:

"We send the EU £350 million a week. Let's spend it on the NHS instead. Vote leave"

Literally all of the above is a lie. Yet you wouldn't believe the impact it had. People blindly believe things like this, without question. Because they want to. It fits in with their views.

Do me a favour, and read the "Bang Bang Crazy" series at Stonekettle Station. Jim Wright is a retired Navy firearms specialist who knows more about guns and shooting - professionally and personally - than 99.9% of the population, and has A LOT to say about the situation. He is pro firearms AND pro firearms control. He also is a self-labelled Republican who has voted as a Democrat for several elections because of the country's slide to the right (THAT, imo, is "voting your conscience", ie based on policy instead of moniker or label.)

His articles are long, and very dense, but he has a lot to say, imo, and it's worth the time to read it. There are multiple article under that tag; it's a series.

I wish I could "like"this more than once. (We're bi-national, but have been away from the UK too long and couldn't vote, which was beyond frustrating).

That's a great read. My favourite part was this statement and response:

No military will set foot on our soil because why? Even if you somehow manage to take out the military, the public will turn on you from every direction. At least I know we would here in Texas. And don't forget, we may have to turn on our own government someday. Stop electing communists and we wont have that problem. Let them take our guns and we are helpless. Also don't be a fool and think if you make guns ilegal that the criminals will just turn them in. They will be the only ones with them. I wish someone would have been packing in that movie and returned some of that fire.

Just so I’m clear here, you’ve bought yourself the biggest, most powerful, most heavily armed, most technologically advanced military in the entire history of mankind, complete with nuclear weapons, stealth bombers, tanks, and many other advanced capabilities too numerous to count. You’ve given them a full decade of intense combat experience in multiple theaters under a vast variety of conditions from mountain terrain, to forest and jungle to desert, right on down to door to door urban warfare. They have more than ten years direct experience in counter-insurgency tactics against multiple heavily armed, experienced, and utterly ruthless civilian militias engaged in guerrilla tactics. But you figure that an invader that can take that mighty force down can be beaten by you and your drunken rednecked beer buddies and a couple of Chinese knockoff AK-47 replicas, do you?

Jim Wright is awesome (as well as witty). I don't agree with everything he says, but I *always* find what he has to say interesting and valid.

many people were saying...
smart people told me...

2012 was the end of it all...
if drumpf wins.. I guess 2017 is the deadend.
only 5 years off
