Root Problem with BACKside 02062012

Ever since I flashed BACKside 02061012, my phone's screen has constantly been freezing and the only way to unfreeze it is to remove the battery. Is anyone else having that problem? Do you think its a bad flash?

I've had a similar problem to this I am interested in finding out. If the problem is the same. It freezes the screen at a picture but I can still use the lockscreen. I have noticed if I unlock and then turn it between normal and landscape mode that it seems to correct.

It's a know bug with the recently added screen rotation animation. I have a potential fix I'm testing, but I cannot reproduce the bug as easily as some of you seem to be able to. The fix will be in the next build to test out. ;)

For me ithappens when I'm running an app that produces auido(not always when playing audio.just having the app open or running.) such as poweramp music player or some games when I lock the screenk (I only lock the screen in portrait mode if that helps)
hope you can resolve the issue
Btw is there a way to disable the transition so I can avoid freezing. For now?

What are your CPU settings? I had the problem with the new build when the min cpu frequency was 600 mhz.

The min. is where the CPU idles. If the min is above 480MHz you will experience faster battery drain as well as hotter CPU and battery.
480MHz is where you want to keep the min. if your over 700MHz max.

This is quoted, copied and pasted from Jerryscript.

For those with screen freezes which we believe are due to the new rotation animations, please try this:

Settings>>Display>>Animations>>No animations

And/or

Settings>>Display>>Auto-rotate screen

Let me know if this prevents the freezes, that way we can pretty much be sure it's the rotation animation causing the issue.

You may also wanna try an overclock, if not, raise 245 to 480, and run Smartassv2.

I've hit this a couple of times now, and I've been able to escape from the frozen state without a battery pull every time. What I do is turn the phone so it switches to landscape, then back. Even though the screen will still be frozen, I can swipe to unlock like always. The screen looks like nothing is happening, but it's still receiving input, so I can unlock it. It then returns to my homescreen and responds normally.
I don't know if this info will be useful or not, just wanted to share my experience.

There may be something to changing the theme. When I flashed I put Green Machine on too. If I plugged the phone into a USB cable attached to my PC and rotated it, it froze. I re flashed without Green Machine and the problem went away.

Hmm... then it's worth noting that I've experienced the same problem, and I too flashed with Green Machine. So far, disabling screen rotation seems to have resolved the issue. I've left all animations on, to help determine which is the problem.

I'm not sure if this'll be of much more help, but I also am having somewhat of the same issue with a slight variation. There has. Been a freeze up issue with screen rotation at times, but the problem was more frequent when I would play pandora and the screen would go to sleep, the audio would then start to crackle and sometimes skip. I would try to turn the screen back on to fix it and sometimes it would freeze up and reset the phone, sometimess it would just take a minute to bring the screen back on and then as soon as it was on Pandora played fine. Hope this adds something to help troubleshooting the problem.

It is important not to put your min too low if you use apps that will run when the screen is turned off. Once your screen turns off, the phone attempts to lower the cpu, sometimes regardless of the fact you have something running in the background. If you continue to have issues with audio while the screen is off, try raising your min value in the overclocking settings.

Most audio players are lightweight enough that this shouldn't cause issues. However, streaming players especially can cause issues since they are both using the audio system, and streaming the data from the internet. Do both with your min overclock set too low, and it could definitely become an issue. ;)

Wow, that's kind of like changing the paint job on a car to improve it's fuel economy.

Well all I can say is I know what resolved the issue for me, I installed IKandee theme, and the freezes and screen rotation issues have not reappeared. It is pretty strange indeed, not all that different then different themes in KDE or Gnome doing strange things, and a slightly different theme resolving problems.
