Root Problem with nandroid backups..

Yesterday I made a couple nandroid backups. One with Mik 2.61 and one with Infected r42. Today I was having an issue with my phone so I thought a wipe and restore would help. Well, both of the backups I made yesterday would not work. I would push the power button to start the backup and both times it said something about a problem with the backup and to check the backup log or something like that. I dont know of any backup log and have had no problems backing up in the past. What would cause 2 separate backups to not work? Just for your reference, I am backing up the first 3 boxes that come pre-checked, wimax ans sd-ext.

The first thing I would check is my SDCARD. Make sure it isn't a problem there also which recovery are you using?

I had this problem when I had 2 nandriods on the phone. . What I did was save them both to my computer. I put them in seperate file folders with different names. I then cleaned them off the phone. If you notice the nandriod is always saved in a folder named with the devices serial #. I deleted that folder from the phone and did a superwipe. I then went back in from computer with usb(Set phone as disk drive) and re-created the folder naming it the same serial number then I copied the nandriod I wanted to restore back into the folder. Then restored no problem. More times than not when I have 2 nandriods on the phone I have had problems trying to restore one or both. Now I always save the nandriod to my computer( I save the folder named with the serial # in another folder named with what Rom I was using at the time- just my way of doing it)

when restoring your nands, make sure that youre wiping the cache and dalvik cache at least once. Ideally you shouldnt hafta do this if going from one sense rom to another, but it cant hurt at all. If (in the futre) youre going from/to a senseless or AOSP(the best type of rom in my opinion) then youll absolutely hafta wipe the caches, if not do a factory reset. In that vein, you might wanna try a factory reset regardless just to make sure all of the old OS info is gone. Additionally, you can do a sms backup/restore to keep your texts and make a backup of your contact list just in case Google doesnt have em all and that you have a good, clean copy of a rom on your sd card to flash a fresh install incase anything goes wrong. Happy rooting my friend, and best of luck to ya :D

How would I do that? It is the one that came with my EVO. I save things to it all the time, transfer things on and off, etc. All with no issues. Is there some way to run a check on it?

And as far as the folder names go- When I do a backup, it puts the backup in a folder within a folder. I have been renaming the first folder everytime so I know which is which. I guess that folder would be the serial number one. Should that one not be renamed?

And lastly, I am using amon-ra (2.3 I think? the newest one I know of. from the stickied thread up top) recovery.

I have 5 nandroids on my sd and never have had a problem (not so far anyway) When you select restore it will show the nandroid folder in the list that folder should never be renamed Then it will show the backups.
I change the name to look like this MIKG-12032011 This shows me the rom and date and is sim to the regular name it was given. When i restore I wipe like im installing a new rom cashe dalvik and data and ext 3 times then i flash superwipe 3 times. Hope this helps some. Also i know there are things like spaces and so on that cant be used in the name.

yeah i think that you might be naming your nandroids incorrectly like mikey suggests. you get the oops something went wrong error when you do. just make sure that you name it with no spaces and no unusual symbols.

I never thought of that...I just thought back and I started having nandroid issues when I started naming them...I will have to try to format it better.
