Root Project Elite v5! (ASOP Gingerbread)

Im still on 5.0! when you dl the .x rom update, do you lose any info or current phone settings? And theres no need to wipe right?

You don't need to wipe for either 5.0.1 or 5.0.2 and you won't lose any data or settings. However, with 5.0.1, if you have a theme, the framework is replaced and it will mess up your theme (5.0.2 does not do this). Most of the themes have been updated for 5.0.1, though, so you could flash 5.0.1 and flash the theme again, then flash 5.0.2, without wiping between.

Yo, definitely give it a go. The only issue I've had so far is that once my batter level dropped from 50 to 20%, but it was after recording a 5-6 minute video, with flash on. Other than that, no redraw issues. I have 3 screens, not much on them (i choose to have the scrolling home bar at the bottom to have all my most used apps). No 3g drop. And no app force closures.

Ive been running it for about 5 days now. This rom is very fast too. and thats on the stock kernal. Nowadays the only reason to go out and get a different kernel is if your experiancing problems, not just to go and get it for shits n giggles.

Give it a try, and if not, just load your nandroid bu of ur current state rom.

bsems, a lot of people have resolved the dramatic battery drop issue by wiping battery stats after getting to a full charge, letting the battery deplete entirely, then charging up to 100% again. That basically recalibrates your battery for your new setup and you'll get more accurate battery readings. I try to do this after each new ROM install.

Yeah, same here - in fact, PE 5.01 is the first GB-based ROM I *haven't* had much redraw/lagginess with. Getting ready to install 5.02 in next few minutes. Very, VERY happy with this ROM -- going on Day Three and have had no issues whatsoever. Think it's a keeper... :D

5.02 has a lock Home in memory option that pretty much negates the need for the command line hack.

Working pretty well so far.

All this ROM needs now is custom LED's and it'll be damn near perfect.

I'm still on 5.0.1, but I did come across an issue that may or may not be linked to this ROM. While trying to pay my phone bill using #PMT, I entered my credit card information, and I was being told that it was an invalid card. I redid it, same thing. Talked to an operator, who wanted me to do it with her on the line. She patched me through and I had to enter my phone number. While the number I was seeing was correct, the last digit of my phone number was incorrect. Even though I had punched in a 6, it was telling me that it was a zero. I should also state that I have 3 6s in my phone number, and only the last one was incorrect.

Anyway, I've not had an issue calling anyone, so it's not that big a deal. And I'm gonna update to 5.0.2, anyway, maybe that'll take care of it.

She really is.

I'm still stuck on CM7 nightly, esp. with Winner00 aka ExpertOnTech's builds - he has DSP Manager working, and I don't need SetCPU anymore, but if I were to consider any other GB ROM it would be this one.

One day when I have time to play (setting up 100 apps is a major PITA) I'll do it, promise.

I've tried and tried to use this but I'm having a problem getting my data restored!! I've tried with both Titanium backup and MyBackup Pro. Neither one is working for me! Currently I'm on CM7 nightly and I'm confused as to why I can't get my data over.

Had a similar issue on Charity 11 but it wasn't the ROM, Swype was the culprit - doubling the numbers I would type. Didn't happen with the regular Android keyboard. No problem with Swype and PE5 so far.

What is your data being restored from, and how do you go about restoring?

IF YOU ARE COMING FROM A FROYO BASED ROM YOU CANNOT RESTORE EVERYTHING, PARTICULARLY SYSTEM DATA

You're trying to restore data for system apps with version 2.2.x to a system with apps version 2.3.x - there are going to be some inconsistencies.

I've never used MyBackupPro, but I use TiBu extensively. with GB ROMs, here's is my strategy.

1) Install ROM (and GApps if necessary), log in to my account, reboot into recovery, install TiBu as a system App via software update, reboot. (This is the methodology I use with installing CM7 whenever I do a wipe)
2) Restore APPS ONLY without data
3) Reboot
4) Restore Data only for those apps I restored
5) Reboot
6) Restore only those system data / settings that TiBu has marked green, and only those I need to have restored (IOW, those that did not get restored on their own from when I logged into my Google Account, which is very very few).

Again, though, if your data is saved from a FroYo-based ROM, don't restore your system data to GB - you'll be better off manually setting all that stuff again.

I never try to restore system data other than call logs, sms & mms. And I'm coming from CM7. I'm really at a loss on this one. I've done a lot of flashing and have never run into anything like this. I think I may try replacing the memory card to see if that is the culprit.

Where do I get the Winner00 build? I love this ROM, but my bluetooth headphones will sound so much better with DSP manager.

***Does anyone know if the Project Elite team is working on a DSP fix?***

[NIGHTLY] [CM7] Discussion of Nightlies - CyanogenMod Forum - Page 119 is his last build. It is basically his own nightly build of CM7, with the DSP fix as well as (possibly) a few extra commits that do not make it into the regular CM7 nightly build.

To keep abreast of his builds, either follow that thread (an you'll ahve to watch it carefully, about 20-25 posts per night when we all get home) or else follow him on twitter (a lot easier, if you already have a twitter account): Twitter

Skip SMS by using SMS backup and Restore by Ritesh Sahu - Download SMS Backup & Restore for your Android phone on AppBrain

That may be a reason it is failing, if you have a *lot* of SMS / MMS. Try restoring data in small chunks (like 10 apps at a time, with reboots between restores) and see where it actually breaks. I'm betting one of your logs is breaking it, b/c it is eating up so much memory.

I never restore call logs anymore - I have a monthly statement that tells me who I've called and who called me. As for SMS, I make a near-monthly backup using SMS backup an Restore, so I never have more than a couple dozen in my phone, plus I am trying to get everyone to use my GV number for SMS. MMS, well, I had a few, but not many. They're long gone, but then again, they were not all that important in the first place.

But that's just me. :D

I should have clarified better. I was only stating that those are the only system stuff I restore but that's actually not my problem as MyBackup will allow me to restore those. Where I'm having a problem is restoring data to my apps. Both MyBackup and Titanium will not restore the app data. And I only restore data to a couple of apps such as games and my password app.
