Root Project Elite v5! (ASOP Gingerbread)

One thing I have noticed in PE is when downloading an app from the market the runner says "starting download" and stays there until the app starts to install and it changes to "installing", so it never shows the progress of the download. This was happening in LGB for me too, but not on CM7. It's just a minor bug, was wondering if anyone else was getting it.

I was seeing some of this, too, and then I did all the stuff suggested here and now I'm seeing progress bar and everything is installing as it did pre-Gingerbread: Project Elite.

This ROM was really starting to slow down on me, even making it difficult to answer calls. And it got to a point where I was constantly getting kicked off the browser. Not to mention Facebook constantly reverts back to the main screen when I'm trying to view my friends stream. I decided to give Simply Stunning a try, but the battery life is no where near PE. I may give Liquid 1.3 a try until the next PE comes out.

I had lots of lag also. I enabled compcache and my lag went away. May I suggest you look at the PE FAQ theres some info on your problem of lag and remember like with anything you have to maintain your device like anything you own. You cant set it and forget it.

Haven't looked at the FAQ yet, but which % amount would you suggest for enabling compcache? Haven't seen a huge slowdown like Yankee has, and battery life has been pretty good, but I'm all for increasing some speed. :D

I have always kinda stayed away from compcache since the first few times I tried it, it seemed as if my Droid just didn't like it. I wasn't sure what percentage to go for, so I just went the middle of the road on that. Hard to say for sure if it's helped just yet, seems the lag comes and goes at times and right now it's ok. I'll have to read up more on the FAQs. Sometimes the more you flash, the more you take for granted. ;)

I try to stay away from those settings too. I saw the faq and read up on it and tried it and it cured my lag. Flashing can be addictive. I went from Petes GB to nightleys (hope I spelled it right) to liquid 1.3. to this one. I like this one by far. Well so far that is :p

I would say try the lowest setting and see how it goes from there.

Nah, def didn't help. In fact, it seems to have made things worse. This wasn't lag, it was straight up crawling. Right now it's fine and dandy, but earlier it was taking about 20-30 secs to perform any function, be it opening an app, trying to change a setting, and I couldn't receive a phone call because it couldn't get to the screen without freezing.

I was guessing that it was because I had LauncherPro, Handcent, xScope, and Facebook locked in memory. But I took it that you needed to in order for these to function correctly. LP redraws, said you need to lock in texts to receive them, and xScope and Facebook constantly close down on me (which even when locked in, they still did). So I dunno. I hope that a new ROM is being worked on because this was the best GB ROM I've been on yet. Hopefully flashing a new theme will help in the meanwhile.

What kernel are you using? With setcpu what's the lowest setting you using. 250? Sorry I ain't much help.

Actually, pretty much the same thing happened to me. The first few days were nice, with some very occasional lag, then by last night, it was down to a crawl. I had VM heap and compcache already enabled. I tried adjusting them down slightly because I had no ram left to install anything (I have very few apps to start with) and I ended up in a boot loop and had to restore my old froyo smoked glass. Oh well, this was a fun rom.

Over the past 24 hours or so I've also had some serious lag problems. Just before it began I had started using setcpu again. I disabled setcpu, and though I am not sure if this was really the cause or not, I've not had any lag for the past 4-5 hours.

No compcache and no adjustments to VM heap have been made.

...

Been having similar problems the last couple days. Getting random lockups. Phone becomes totally unresponsive; can't even do a reboot. Not sure what's going on. I've also had the incoming call screen screwup such that I couldn't answer a call. I think my problems have worsened since enabling compcache.

Now I know it wasn't just me. It's really too bad b/c this has been, IMO, the best GB ROM I've used. I hope this is an issue that can be addressed in future iterations. For now, I'm trying out LGB1.3. I already miss the themes.

I disabled compcache and rebooted yesterday, and my phone was running better afterwards. However, today, I had 3 random lockup/reboots. These were preceded by the phone slowing to a crawl. So I don't know wth is going on. Seems like my phone keeps getting progressively worse, which is so strange since it ran like a champ the first few days I ran PEv5. My battery life has taken a big nosedive as well, along w/ the performance quirks.

Going to give Pete's GPA13 a try.

Yeah I got some lag issues and also couple of times when charging, my phone got really hot and I mean over 65 degrees C. It didn't happen every time though. Went back to CM7 for now.
