Root Project Elite v5! (ASOP Gingerbread)

Went ahead and flashed this. So far I'm pretty impressed. Very zippy on the stock kernel.

Only issues I've noticed so far:
Slow LP home screen redraw even w/ only 1 page having 2 widgets.
Battery indicator shows my battery suddenly dropping from 50% to 20% (skips right past 40% and 30%). Is this a kernel issue?

First off love this ROM! Lock screen is clean and nice! Runs great and no redraws of LP for me. Great work guys.

Now on to my one issue, my exchange email does not work with this ROM or any Gingerbread ROM. It will work fine for an hour or so then it just stops syncing. I open my email and hit refresh and it does nothing. I then have to force close and it works again. Can anyone help with this issue??? I have had this on UD, Liquid and now PE. Is there a way to lock your email in memory? Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had this issue with a couple of ROMs. I would suggest, if possible going into your OWA. I don't know how your exchange is setup, but my new rule of thumb is to login to my Outlook Web Access page (OWA), go to options, mobile devices, and delete all the mobile devices associated with my phone. Then I apply the new ROM. That might help, worth a shot.

BEST GINGERBREAD ROM EVER!~ I tried most of the GB rom but this one its a keeper for me... super fast, smooth, everything work (except of 1 app but I emailed the Dev) great great customization...

thumbs up! I am donating fantastic job! :]

this ROM is SUPERB. Maybe its b/c i havent upgraded since LFY1.95. But damn, this thing is fast, can tweak practically your entire system/setup. And so far battery is decent(giving the fact that i've had sync on the entire time, and o.c at 600-1100 interactive)

No redraw lagg, fluid app drawer, A+

I didn't realize there was a 5.01, but I'll jump on that for sure.

So far, I've got to say this is a very snappy ROM. Seems more fluid than the UD3.01 and LGB1.2 (I've yet to try 1.3). Each of those ROMs also had a quirk that made me move on from those ROMs (LGB would reboot, UD had the ringtone assignment bug). So far, PE doesn't seem to have any of those issues. One thing those ROMs did have was pretty nice battery life, and I still gotta get a more accurate depiction of PE's. Up to this point, it's been up to par with them.

Anyone else had problems with the keyboard and soft keys not lighting up at all? Came from the CM nightlies, did full wipe and installed this, and the lights not coming on seems to be the only issue I have with it.

This is the best one I've tried so far, even after calls I havent had any problems with 3G as of yet, have only used it for today, but so far so good, much better and smoother than even UD was, which I was surprised....I really liked PE4.5 before gingerbread and they've done a great job on this, if it keeps running good this will be a keeper for a while for sure

No, I haven't seen this at all. Keyboard and soft keys are lighting up just like they should.

I'm with you, Gunner - I've flashed nearly all of the GB ROMs on my OG Droid, and there's been at least one or two (or many) issues with each that keep me from running it for daily production. What's your overall impression of PE 5.1? Are issue negligible enough to keep it? I really want to run GB full-time but the various little issues pile up and it's enough to put me back on dew's Charity Froyo ROM each time...

Overall, after 24 hrs, this is far and away the best GB ROM I've run. My priorities being stability and speed. I have no desire to go back to Froyo thus far.

My only major 'gripe' w/ PE is the slow home screen redraw in LP. I have a very minimal 3 screen setup and yet I'm getting slow redraws as if I had a much more complex setup.

I haven't installed the latest update, so I don't know if that will speed up the home screen redraw.

Gunner, open up a terminal app on your phone and type the following in:

su
echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop
reboot

I was given this shorty script to run when I was having SLOW redraws and returns to the home screen while running dew's GB-based CROM and it helped tremendously...

Seems the light issue is a problem with auto-brightness enabled. It isn't kicking on those lights regardless of how dark the room is, or when sliding the keyboard open.

Also been noticing a lot of 3G dropouts after calls, and airplane trick doesn't always seem to work.
